Nordstrom Spring Finds That Take the Guesswork Out of Getting Dressed

There’s something about a fresh batch of Nordstrom new arrivals that makes me want to clean out my closet and start over.

May is right about the time when everything starts to shift. The heavy layers are gone, the weather is warming up, and all I really want are clothes that feel easy. Not fussy, not complicated… just things I can put on and go without overthinking it.

That’s exactly what I found this time around.

A lot of these pieces fall into that “relaxed but still put-together” category that I’ve been leaning into lately. You know the kind… comfortable, a little forgiving, but you still feel like you made an effort when you walk out the door.

When You Want to Look Polished Without Feeling Overdressed

Easy Single Breasted Blazer (Size 12) | Floral Puff Sleeve Button-Up Top (Large) | Seamed Crop Flare Pants (Size 8) | Block Heel Pump (TTS)

This is one of those outfits that works when you want to look a little more put-together but still feel comfortable. The blazer adds structure without making it feel stiff, and the floral top keeps it from feeling too serious.

I like this kind of outfit for days when you’re out running errands but might stop for lunch or need to look a little more polished. It’s easy, but it doesn’t look like you just threw something on.

Floral Puff Sleeve Button-Up Top

Floral Puff Sleeve Button-Up Top (Large)

This Puff Sleeve Top is one of the prettiest button-up shirts I own, but what really makes it stand out is how easy it is to wear. The muted blues and white keep it soft and not too busy, which means you can pair it with just about anything without feeling like your outfit is doing too much.

The fit is comfortable without being oversized, and the puff sleeve gives it just enough shape to keep it from looking like a basic button-up. If you’ve ever struggled with shirts pulling across the chest, this one has a little extra room, which I always appreciate.

I would wear this with jeans, white pants, or even tucked into a skirt if you wanted to dress it up a bit.

Seamed Crop Flare Pants

Seamed Crop Flare Pants (Size 8) | Block Heel Pump (TTS)

These Crop Flare Pants are one of those pairs of pants that look structured but feel surprisingly comfortable. The seaming detail helps give them a little more shape, which is great if you don’t want something that just hangs straight down.

The crop flare is flattering because it shows a bit of ankle, which keeps the look light for spring and summer. I paired them with a block heel, but they would look just as good with a flat or sandal if you’re running around all day.

Fit-wise, these are true to size on me, and they don’t feel tight through the waist or hips, which is always a plus.

An Easy Go-To When You Don’t Want to Think Too Hard

Stripe V-Neck Cardigan (Medium) | Raw Hem Ankle Flare Leg Jeans (Size 8) | TOMS Women’s Classic Espadrille Wedge Sandal (TTS) | Leather Handwoven Pouch Crossbody Clutch

This is a great example of how a simple outfit doesn’t have to feel boring. The white jeans keep everything looking fresh for spring and summer, and the striped cardigan adds just enough personality to make it interesting.

It’s one of those outfits you can wear almost anywhere, whether you’re meeting friends, shopping, or just out and about. Comfortable, easy, and still looks like you made an effort.

Stripe V-Neck Cardigan

Stripe V-Neck Cardigan (Medium) | Clover Link Bracelet | Clover Toggle Necklace

I really like this V-Neck Cardigan because it doesn’t feel like a traditional cardigan. The stripes give it personality, and the V-neck keeps it flattering without feeling too covered up.

I’m wearing it as a top here, but you could easily wear it open over a tank or tee. That’s something I look for now, pieces that can be styled more than one way.

The weight is perfect for this time of year, not too heavy, but still enough to wear in those overly air-conditioned places.

Leather Handwoven Pouch Crossbody Clutch

This is the perfect color clutch for spring and summer, and it can be worn casually or dressed up.

If You Love a Relaxed Fit But Still Want Shape

Tania wearing a cable knit cream sweater and wide leg jeans from Nordstrom
Cotton Blend Cable Knit Sweater (Large) | High Waist Wide Leg Jeans (Size 8) | Long Coin Pendant | Widow’s Mites Necklace | Leather Convertible Crescent Shoulder Bag

This outfit feels very current without trying too hard. The fitted sweater balances out the wider leg of the jeans, which keeps everything looking intentional instead of oversized.

I love this combination because it’s comfortable but still has shape. It’s a nice option if you want something relaxed but don’t want to lose that put-together look.

Cotton Blend Cable Knit Sweater

Cotton Blend Cable Knit Sweater (Large) | Long Coin Pendant | Widow’s Mites Necklace

This Cable Knit Sweater feels so good the second you put it on. It’s incredibly soft without being too lightweight, so it holds its shape nicely instead of clinging.

I sized up to a large because I like a little extra room, especially when I’m pairing it with something like wide-leg jeans. That balance between fitted and relaxed is what keeps the outfit looking modern instead of dated.

The Long Coin Pendant adds length, which I love with sweaters and tops like this, because it draws your eye down and helps elongate everything a bit.

The Widow’s Mites Necklace is a little more delicate, but it carries so much meaning, and I like layering it with the longer piece so it doesn’t get lost. Together, they don’t feel heavy or overdone, just thoughtful.

Aetrex Sydney Orthopedic Sandals

 Aetrex Sydney Orthopedic Sandals (TTS)

If you need a supportive sandal, these Orthopedic Sandals are worth a look. I deal with plantar fasciitis, so I’m always paying attention to how shoes feel after I’ve been on my feet for a while.

These have good arch support, and the velcro straps make them easy to adjust, which is especially helpful if your feet swell during the day.

They’re comfortable enough to wear for errands or travel, and they don’t feel bulky like some orthopedic shoes can.

For Those Days When Simple Still Needs a Little Personality

Open Stitch Johnny Collar Sweater (Medium) | Straight Leg Ankle Jeans (Size 8) | European Leather Belt (Large) | Tom’s Sip On Flats | Leather Shopper Tote | FOREVER Moon and Back Pendant Coin | FOREVER Vineyard Crescent Moon | Globe Boho Hoops

This is one of those outfits that looks simple at first, but there’s a lot going on in a good way. The texture of the sweater adds interest, and the straight-leg jeans keep it grounded.

It’s perfect for those days when you don’t want to think too hard about what to wear, but you still want to feel like yourself. Easy, comfortable, and just a little bit elevated.

Open Stitch Johnny Collar Sweater

Open Stitch Johnny Collar Sweater (Medium) | Leather Shopper Tote

This is a great example of how neutrals don’t have to be boring. The open stitch gives it texture, and the Johnny collar adds just enough structure to keep it from looking too casual.

I always wear a lightweight, neutral tank underneath something like this, just for a little coverage, and it makes the whole outfit feel more finished.

The fit is relaxed but not oversized, which I think is important. You still get that easy feel without losing your shape.

FOREVER Moon and Back Pendant Coin | 14 kt. Globe Boho Hoops

I’ve been wearing this necklace a lot lately. This FOREVER Moon and Back Pendant has a lot of meaning, since I am always telling my kids, grandkids, and even Joe, that I love them to the moon and back.

These gold hoops are one of those easy pieces that go with just about anything. They’re lightweight, which is important because I don’t want to feel like I’m wearing my jewelry by the end of the day, and they have just enough of a unique shape to stand out without being too bold.

If you’re not looking for full outfits and just want a few easy pieces to mix into what you already have, here are a few more finds I think you’ll love.

More Finds for Spring From Nordstrom

This is one of those tops that looks simple at first, but it has just enough detail to make your outfit feel a little more elevated. I love the textured knit and the Johnny collar. It gives it a slightly sporty, preppy feel without trying too hard. Easy to pair with jeans, shorts, or even a casual skirt.

This is the kind of top you’ll reach for on those days when you want to look cute but don’t want to think too hard about it. The flutter sleeves are flattering without being too much, and the print adds a little personality. It works with white jeans, denim, or even shorts.

A good neutral sandal like this is always worth having in your closet. The ankle strap helps keep everything secure, and the design is simple enough to go with just about anything. Great with dresses, cropped pants, or even shorts when you want something a little more refined than a flip-flop.

Vince Camuto Twist Front Jersey Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits can be tricky, but this one is easy to wear and super flattering. The twist front adds shape without feeling tight, and the jersey fabric makes it comfortable enough for all day. This is one of those pieces you can dress up or down, depending on your shoes and accessories.

Wit & Wisdom High Waist Relaxed Denim Shorts

If you’ve been looking for denim shorts that don’t feel too short or too stiff, these are a great option. The relaxed fit gives you a little more room through the legs, and the high waist helps everything feel secure. Easy, comfortable, and very wearable.

SPANX Smock Waist V-Neck Cotton Midi Dress

This dress is all about comfort without sacrificing style. The smocked waist gives you shape but still feels forgiving, and the cotton fabric keeps it breathable for warmer days. It’s one of those throw-on-and-go dresses that still looks like you put in effort.

SUGARLIPS Fernie Field Janey Cotton Poplin Maxi Dress
SUGARLIPS Fernie Field Janey Cotton Poplin Maxi Dress

I love a good cotton poplin dress for summer, and this one is such a pretty option. The longer length gives it a slightly more dressed-up feel, but it’s still lightweight and easy to wear. Perfect for church, brunch, or even vacation dinners.

Easy Spirits Hetty Pointed Toe Slingback Pump Nordstrom May New Arrivals
Easy Spirits Hetty Pointed Toe Slingback Pump

If you need a comfortable dress shoe, this is a great one to look at. The slingback keeps it secure without feeling too tight, and the pointed toe helps elongate your legs a bit. A nice option for events, church, or anytime you want something a little more polished.

SUGARLIPS Arbor Tile Lexya Cotton Shift Dress

This shift dress is such an easy piece to have on hand. It skims the body without clinging, and the print gives it a fun, summery feel. I’d wear this with sandals during the day or dress it up a bit with wedges.

This bag has that clean, minimal look that goes with everything. It’s a great option if you want something lightweight but still stylish.

This clutch is such a fun little statement piece. The multi-panel design adds interest, and it’s perfect for weddings, dinners, or any event where you don’t want to carry a big bag. It’s small but makes a big impact.

NYDJ Lilly Straight Leg Denim Shorts

White denim is a staple for me in the spring and summer, and these shorts are so cute! The straight leg keeps them from feeling too tight, and NYDJ always does a nice job with fit. A solid, classic pair you’ll wear all summer.

CeCe Floral Short Sleeve Mini Shirtdress Nordstrom Spring Summer Finds
CeCe Floral Short Sleeve Mini Shirtdress

This dress is just easy and feminine in the best way. The shirtdress style keeps it feeling classic, while the floral print adds a soft, summery touch. I’d wear this with simple sandals or even white sneakers for a casual day out.

One More Thing

If I’m being honest, I think I’ve been overcomplicating getting dressed for way too long.

The outfits I keep coming back to lately are the simple ones. The ones that don’t require a lot of thought, don’t need a ton of styling, and just feel good the second I put them on.

And maybe that’s where I’m at right now. My word of the year is simple, or simplify, and it’s showing up in my closet whether I planned it or not.

Simple doesn’t mean boring. It just means things work. They feel good, they make sense, and they don’t leave you standing in your closet wondering what to wear.

And honestly… that sounds pretty good to me.
