NINE NEW BEAUTY PRODUCTS THAT I’M LOVING

At the beginning of last year, I decided to try new retailers for my clothing. There are many brands, and I wanted to open my horizons and try new things. That was a huge success, and I found several new retailers that I now order from regularly. I decided to do the same thing this year, but with makeup, hair, and beauty products. Each month I’ve been testing and trying new products, and today I’ve got several to show you from my latest haul.

Here is a look at some of the new products that I ordered from Walmart. I ordered some sunscreens, some lotions, and some makeup products to try.

I ordered these two sunscreens to take on our vacation in April. My daughter has sensitive skin, so she uses mineral sunscreen from Bare Republic. Since she is a Marine Biologist, she loves that this sunscreen is reef-friendly. I ordered the Neutrogena Age Shield Face Sunscreen for myself. It has a broad spectrum SPF 70, and it is oxybenzone free.

Because of my insanely dry skin, I wanted to try the Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion. After reading the description, I couldn’t wait to get this lotion in.

Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion is designed for rough, dry, and bumpy skin, and that is exactly what kind of skin I have. So far, I’ve only used it two or three times; I love how it makes my skin feel. I need to be consistent, so I can see if it helps.

Now for the makeup and beauty products that I purchased. I just discovered the By Terry line of products, and I went wild ordering things to try. The first product that I’m trying today is this Hyaluronic Hydra-Primer. This product contains hyaluronic acid, instantly mattifies and blurs imperfections, and is suitable for all skin types. It fills in fine lines and wrinkles and helps to make your makeup last longer.

I apply a small amount on my face, especially in areas with larger pores and wrinkles. Blurring over pores and wrinkles is the goal so that my foundation won’t settle in the indentions.

After applying foundation, you will want to set it with a setting powder. The Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder is a loose translucent setting powder that contains hyaluronic acid. According to my research, hyaluronic acids’ main function is to retain water to keep your tissues well lubricated and moist.

I sprinkle the powder into the lid, and then I use a blending brush to apply it to my face. This one has dense and compact bristles to help the powder get into all of the crevices, and the bristles are soft.

Next, I used the same brush to the powders from the Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder Palette. I like that the powders give you a matte finish and that you have four to choose from. I used them in different areas on my face to contour and highlight.

I applied the darkest color on the underside of my cheekbone to give it a shadow. I want this part to recede in the background to help my cheeks stand out.

The lightest color is what I applied under the dark color down to my chin line.

I also applied it under my eyes to lighten that area and help it to stand out. I ordered this palette before I started applying faux tanner, and I should have ordered the darker version of this palette. I forgot to consider that my skin would be darker, either from faux-tanning products or from being in the sun. I’m going to send this one back and get the darker version instead.

Then, I moved on to my eyes. I am totally obsessed with these Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadows. These features Tahitian black pearls extracts, a powerful anti-aging ingredient with light-reflecting properties. I’ve always liked cream eyeshadows, but I’ve had a hard time applying them, and they end up settling in the creases of my eyes. These have solved that problem for me! They are easy to apply, blend, don’t settle in my creases, and last the entire day.

I’ve applied Frozen Quartz on my eyelid up to the fold for this look. You can see that the eyeshadow has a small amount of shimmer and reflects the light.

Next, in the fold line, a smidge above it, and on the outside corners of my eye, I applied Lumiere Mercure. This bronze-looking color goes well with the Frozen Quartz one I applied earlier.

The last shade that I used is called Blond Opal. I applied that under my eyebrow and in the corners of my eyes. Those are the two areas that I want to highlight.

This is what the shadow looked like BEFORE I blended it in. You want to smudge the edges, so there are no harsh lines.

The Lash Expert Twist Brush Mascara is the coolest thing I’ve come across in a long time. Most of the time, when you are shopping for mascara, you have to choose between buying one for volume or one for length. This dual-action brush does it all for you in a unique way.

Straight out of the tube, you have a standard wand. This type of wand is great for helping your lashes look as long as possible.

But, if you want extra volume, you will want to use a brush like this. You don’t have to change brushes; all you have to do is twist the top of the cap, which will transform the brush for you.

pumice stone

Here is a BONUS product for you, and it is one that I use all of the time. This pumice stone was initially bought to help with my dry, cracking heels, and it has done a fabulous job on those. But, my husband started using it on his arms and had me feel how smooth they were. That was all of the encouragement I needed; I now use it on my arms and legs every time I shower. I lather up with soap first, and then I lightly (don’t hurt yourself) go over my skin with the pumice stone. You would not believe the difference in how my skin feels. Be sure to follow up with a good moisturizer; I can’t wait to hear all of you thanking me in the next few weeks.

I ordered the Ombré Blackstar Cream Eyeshdow in the Blonde Opal. The mascara brush sounds fabulous. I use the Tree Hut body scrub on my feet every night, then apply Aquaphor to them and wear soft socks for several hours while it absorbs in my feet. The pumice stone would probably make my feet even softer. Thank you so much for sharing these great products with us!

I’ve been looking for products with hyaluronic acid but was overwhelmed with so many products. I will definitely give these a try. Are you just using the powder for foundation?

Ann, I applied the powder to set my foundation. But, if you don’t wear foundation, you can just use the powder.

Thank you for another post about affordable products that you like. Will be trying the pumice stone idea and the mascara. Would appreciate an update on the potential success of the transforming body lotion because I have those issues also. I’m just too lazy to try the make-up palette and eyeshadows ;-).

Jane, thanks so much! I’ve been using Rodan and Fields Radiant Defense Perfecting Liquid for about 4 or 5 years. It is skincare that is tinted like foundation. It is good for your skin and allows your skin to still show through, so it doesn’t look cakey. I use two colors and blend them together to get the color I want. In the winter when my skin is whiter, I will use more of the lighter color. When I have a tan, real or faux, I will use more of the darker color. The colors that I use are Honey and Beige.

Great post, Tania! I’ve been wondering about By Terry products for awhile. Now that you’ve been using them I’m much more likely to try them. I trust your judgment and you look gorgeous! I’ll be trying the pumice stone very soon. Sounds like a wonderful routine. Also, would you consider trying some Ta Ta Harper skincare?
