My Latest Makeup Routine From Nordstrom Beauty

I love playing with and trying new makeup. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not an expert when it comes to beauty. I watch makeup artists apply makeup and try to emulate the process. Here is my latest makeup routine and the products I used.

New Makeup from Nordstrom Beauty

I purchased a lot of items from brands I already know and love, such as MAC Cosmetics and HOURGLASS. Pat McGrath Labs is fairly new to me, although I have tried a few of their items before.

I wanted to show you the finished product so you could STOP right here if you don’t like the results. Lol! The lighting wasn’t great because the light above me cast harsh shadows.

My Latest Makeup Routine – Blush

I did my skincare and applied a foundation and a setting powder with my existing products. One of the products I used was the Divine Rose Blush from the Jet Set Kit. This is a light mauve rose blush that would work for most women.

The kit included a blush and matte lipstick, a lip gloss, and a lip shine, which is like a balm. This kit is a great way to try several products instead of buying full-size products.

My Latest Makeup Routine – Eyeshadow

MAC Eyeshadow Palette Encrypted Kryptonite

Eyeshadows are the easiest and most fun beauty products to play with. You can see immediate results, and they enhance your eyes to make them the “star” of your face. I bought the Encrypted Kryptonite palette by MAC because I want to strive for a smokey eye.

This palette has all the shades I need to create a smokey eye, which is fabulous for the holidays. If I start perfecting the look now, I’ll be ready by the time the holidays roll around.

My Latest Makeup Routine – Eyeliner

Brushstroke 24-Hour Liquid Eyeliner Pen

Don’t judge your eyeshadow until you have applied an eyeliner and mascara. The eyeshadow will look too bold or too much, but after you apply “thin” eyeliner and mascara, it won’t look as bold. This is my second tube of the MAC liquid eyeliner. I like how precise you can be and that it stays put without smudging.

What A Difference Mascara Makes!

Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara

When I do posts, I sometimes get asked, “If you could only buy one item, which one would it be?” Hands down, my answer today is this mascara! I was immediately impressed with how the mascara applied and didn’t clump the lashes.

This photo is to show you how BIG a difference mascara can make. You can’t even see that I have eyelashes until I applied ONE coat of this mascara. I can’t wait for you to try this one! To test out its staying power, I left it on overnight. The next morning, I barely had any smudging under the eye, and the mascara looked like it had the day before. It’s not a bad price either since it is under $30.

Eyebrow Gel

Arch Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel

I have blonde eyebrows, so I have to apply an eyebrow pencil or gel. This eyebrow gel by HOURGLASS is tinted, which helps a lot. I used an eyebrow pencil to give me the shape I wanted and then the brow gel to add a small amount of color and set the look in place.

My Latest Makeup Routine – The Lips

HOURGLASS Lip Liner – Flaunt 2

When I want long-lasting lip color, I first use a lip liner. The Flaunt 2 Lip Liner is a great neutral that I can use with lots of lipsticks. After I line the outer edges of my lips, I will use the liner to color the entire lip. After that, I apply a lipstick or lip stain.

PAT McGRATH LABS Dramatique Mega Lip Pencil

I ordered three shades of the PAT McGRATH LABS Dramatique Mega Lip Pencil. Nude Venus is neutral, and I ordered it to wear when I rock a smokey eye. The “rule” is to either do a bold lip or bold eyeshadow, but not both. The Garnet Glow and Elson 6 are both bold colors, so I would wear a neutral, lighter eyeshadow with those.

Here are the swatches of the lip colors I ordered from Pat McGrath.

The description calls this a lip pencil, but it is larger and thicker and more like a crayon. Here are the steps to get this lip pencil to stay put all day long and not leave prints on your cup. First, use the lip liner, then apply the lip crayon. I then set the lip crayon with powder and re-apply the crayon. This will be matte and somewhat dry. So, I sometimes put the balm or gloss on top for hydration.

I like adding the gloss as the last step, although I know the gloss leaves prints on your cup. I only apply a small amount of gloss in the middle of my lips. I don’t extend all the way to the edges of my lips which is enough for a nice shine.

I hope you enjoyed my latest makeup haul from Nordstrom Beauty. I like ordering my makeup from Nordstrom since they have free deliveries and returns (yes, even on makeup).

    Hi,Tania,
I absolutely love MAC Fix+.It keeps your foundation on,even in grueling conditions. My husband recently had major open heart surgery. I spent 12 hours a day in his room, and was required to wear a mask. My foundation stayed perfect all day, with the MAC Fix +. It is a wonderful product.
I am so thankful he is recovering well, now. All glory to God!

    1. Gabrielle, I’m glad he is recovering so well. That had to be scary! You are right about the setting spray. I’ve used it for years.

  2. sue koren says:

    Nice – very natural look

  3. I really like your makeup look. If only I didn’t shake so bad maybe I would try some of your suggestions!

  4. Tanya – Do you no longer do Rodan & Fields?

    1. I still use Rodan and Fields every day! I add other items into my routine, but R+F is always in the mix.

  5. Tania, your skin looks flawless! And the oatmeal coloured sweater looks wonderful on you. What a beautiful, soft look. Inspiring for sure!

  6. So funny that you mention the Pat McGrath make up line. I was just in Nordstrom yesterday and saw they now carry her line and I’m very excited to try it. She’s an amazing make up artist. Great tips Tania. Thank you.

    1. I’ve tried several of her items, and I’ve liked everything so far.

  7. Beautiful, as always! What foundation are you wearing?
    Love your blog!
    Terry

  8. Your face looks beautiful with this makeup.

  9. Roberta Schwandner says:

Your makeup always looks so nice.

  10. Your finished photo looks so pretty, so I read your entire blog. I would like to find a magenta mascara that is not heavy and thick and gloppy. I bought Voluminous magenta, I think I saw it on your blog. but it is thick and heavy. I rub off most of the mascara on the brush, then use an old mascara brush to take just a tiny bit of what’s left and use it. that way I get the color and don’t look like I’m wearing false eyelashes.

  11. Come on Tania. I enjoy your blog, but If you’re going to demo cosmetics with closeups, please don’t photoshop. I know everyone does it but it’s disheartening. The brown shadow added to your left cheek is pretty obvious in the pictures which makes me think a lot more has been done too.

    1. Ann, I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I lightened the photos so they weren’t dark, but I didn’t add shadows. I didn’t even use contour in my makeup.

  12. What foundation do you use? I have wrinkles under my eyes and I find that foundation tends to stay there and accentuate the wrinkles.

    1. I’m trying several foundations right now. The one I using most at the moment is by Charlotte Tilbury. I can’t remember the name, but I’ll link to it soon once I get home.

  13. Very pretty and beautiful

  14. I am looking for a small safe or lock box that would fit in my Son’s top chest drawer ( so not to tall) He wanted to put his watch, ring, and gold chain in it Do you or any of the other ladies have something to recommend? It would be best if it had a key pad to open it because I’m thinking he may lose the key 🙂 lol

  15. I like your stripe sweater. You eye makeup looks so good. It’s tasteful and not overdone looking fake. One of the biggest mistakes I see older women do is wear too much eye makeup especially dark eyeliner. Actually too much eye makeup makes all women look fake. I see that on TV retail hosts.

  16. I alway look forward to your makeup demonstrations. I’m still looking for THAT MAKEUP but still haven’t found it. I’ll give these a try. BTW-Where did you get your top you’re wearing?

    1. It is the Nic + Zoe Stripe Shaker Zip Cardigan, but it is already sold out.

  17. Love your finished makeup haul look. Great tips. You are amazing and your makeup is flawless.

  18. Tania, your skin is flawless!! It is validation that you have taken excellent care of your skin over the years. One question- where are your wrinkles??!!

    1. Lol! All I see when I look at the photos are wrinkles on my forehead and a huge one between my eyes.

  19. You look pretty with that makup

    1. Thank you for the makeup information. You look so pretty!

  20. Good morning! You look beautiful with the new makeup, however, I think you always look beautiful!

  21. I wish I lived near you I love your kind of work !

  22. I know I’ve seen you model that striped sweater you’re wearing in today’s Nordstrom Makeup Haul post, but I looked and can’t find it. Can you tell me where to find it please? Thank you Tania!

    1. Deborah, it is by Nic + Zoe, but it is all sold out except 1 XL in blue and red. It is the Stripe Shaker Zip Cardigan.

  23. You look beautiful with and without makeup Tania, but as a makeup lover myself, I love your Nordstrom haul look! I also have “invisible” lashes until I apply mascara, and applying my light go to, daytime makeup makes me feel more confident, polished, and ready for the day. Thanks for the Pat McGrath swatches…. I haven’t tried this brand yet.

  24. Kathy Laweryson says:

you do a great job with your makeup! I’m not sure i could do a straight line with the eyeliner, but mascara is automatic for me. And the lip gloss!

  25. Just beautiful!!
    blessings,

  26. I’m so glad that you featured some new makeup. I have been buying the same products for years and they just “aren’t cutting it any longer.” It’s time to step up my game! Thank you, Tania!

  27. Beautiful! What skincare and foundation did you use?

  28. Thanks for the tips!!

  29. Karen Daniel says:

I loved this makeup post! I see many items I will have to try!

  30. I’ve come to the conclusion that I am bad at makeup, because I don’t want to spend the time it takes to get it right. I am ready to be on my way. It’s a carry over from my younger days when I did my make up in the car, after dropping the children at daycare. Lol. I need to take the time to work at it. Great post.

  31. You state you’re not an expert on makeup but that’s what the appeal of your blog is! Beautiful choices and options. Thanks!

  32. Beautiful makeup on you!
