MY HEART’S DESIRE

My wedding anniversary with Joe will be coming up next week. On November 14th, Joe and I will be celebrating 32 years of marriage!!! That seems crazy to me because in some ways it feels like we haven’t been married very long. I was lying in bed last night thinking about when we first met. It was not “love at first sight” but it was definitely “interest at first sight.” I was curious about him and I started paying attention to him. He lived in the same apartment complex so I was aware of his comings and goings. We started “bumping” into each other more and more frequently and our conversations got longer and longer.

Then came the dating cycle. Do you remember how holding hands was so special? A touch or a kiss was enough to keep you dreaming about that moment for days. I worked in an accounting office when he and I first started dating and the girls at work could tell when Joe called me on the phone. They would walk by and smile because I would literally break out in hives all around my neck. Lol! Then, he moved to Texas for a while and we would talk on the phone for HOURS. I can even remember falling asleep while we were talking on the phone.

He was on my mind all of the time. He was my desire. We made time to be together. We found a way to stay connected even though he had moved to Texas. We were in LOVE!

While I was thinking about our marriage, I started thinking about how important it is to continue the gestures that show how much you care for each other. We still hold hands. We still hug and kiss. We don’t talk on the phone for hours anymore but that might be because we live in the same house. Lol! But, we do still fall asleep talking to each other. ❤️

This morning I wondered if I have the same relationship with God. I might not be able to physically touch the Lord but I can physically see His works. All I have to do is look around me to see how the Lord is working in my life. I see the beauty in my surroundings, I hear the beauty in my grandbabies laughter, I feel the beauty in my heart for my family. Staying connected with the Lord is actually pretty simple.

Jeremiah 29:13

13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Proverbs 8:17

17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

Prayer keeps us connected with the Lord and it is available 24/7. I want to be like David.

Psalm 63:1

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

I know that I fall short. I know that I could be a better daughter to the Lord. I know that I could pray longer and more often. I know that I could read His word more, meditate on the meaning, and be a better example. I am so thankful that the God I serve is a loving and forgiving God!

Romans 3:23-24

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Have A Blessed Day!

Congrats on 32 years! I can relate… My husband JOE and I have been married 32 years this year also, on August 2nd we celebrated! We spent part of our relationship apart too and spoke for 2-3 hours a night while he was in college. A semester later I joined him and we both completed our Bachelor degrees in 1986, the year we got married. We fall asleep together every night too. We always go to bed together every single night, except a handful of nights a year when Joe travels out of town for work. We are proud of the 2 children we raised, our son is married and living in San Antonio and our daughter lives about 30 minutes away from us now in Minnesota after living away for college for 4 years and 3 years working her first job out of town 5 hours away. It is wonderful to have her back in town. I love reading about your life! Enjoy having your daughter nearby too! Thanks for sharing about yourself and your family. ?

  9. I like that verse from Jeremiah so much that I think I will add it to my scripture typer verses. That BibLe memorization app online is the best thing I have ever had to help me learn vetses. It makes it fun and at the same time you are in God’s word and learning more about him, seeking him just like you talked about.

  10. What a lovely story and congratulations on your anniversary. James and I were ‘pen friends’ before we got together. I felt we got to know each other for who we are before anything physical and I loved him before we actually met. At the time James was a soldier in the British Army. We will have been married 30 years next August.

    1. My husband and I will celebrate 30 years next August too!!

    2. I wait all week for your inspirational words! Nov. 14th is a great day to be married! My husband, Paul and I celebrate 31 years of wedded bliss this Nov. 14th! We are in Maui right now celebrating Veterans Day, my youngest son’s birthday on Nov. 12th and our anniversary! I am soooo thankful for God’s bounty in my life!
