Monday is back, and I am ready for a new week. I get to visit my parents and see my son and his family that lives in Tennessee!!! I was so afraid that the recent gas crisis would throw a cog in my plans, but it looks like everything will be okay. I’ve been taking a lot of photos so that I’ll have them while I am traveling. Since I have so many, I decided to bring you a try-on session with three different outfits. So, let’s get started…I have to start packing my bags.

Speaking of traveling and packing, is that an area that you struggle with? I am not an expert packer since I don’t travel a lot, but if you would like to see a post on this, then let me know. My biggest issue is not the “packing”; it is that I don’t try on my clothing before I pack. Sometimes when I get ready to wear the outfit, it won’t fit, has a stain on it that I didn’t know about, or it doesn’t match what I wanted to wear it with. So, maybe you don’t want that post from me after all. Lol!

One last thing before we get started, did you see the Live Chat on Instagram that Jennifer, Susan, Deborah, and I did on Friday? It is fun just having girl talk, and we plan on making these a weekly event. I’ll put the video in this post at the end so that you can check it out when you have time. If you have any suggestions for upcoming topics, be sure to leave me a comment.

Today, I’m showing you several outfits that are great for going out to work, off to a lunch date with friends, or for running errands. These aren’t statement outfits and aren’t appropriate for dressy occasions, but I bet you have more normal days than occasion days. We are going to start with this lightweight embroidered top and black everyday ankle pants.

This peasant-style top has gorgeous embroidery, which elevates its style potential. It is lightweight and airy, and the material is crinkled cotton. I love the notched v-neck and how the embroidered lines draw your eyes inward. This top will be cool in the summer heat and would look great with a pair of shorts.

Here is a good view so that you can see the length of the top in the back. It might not be legging length, but it is still a nice long length. I am wearing a medium, and I still have plenty of room in the top.

The black everyday ankle pant is comfortable enough for every day, but they look nice enough for a special occasion. These have a slim fit, and they give you a slimming look. When I see this style of pants, I think of Audrey Hepburn. This is a classic silhouette that won’t go out of style. I am wearing my usual size 10, and I think that they fit me great.

Going on a vacation or a cruise? This outfit would be fabulous to pack along for your trip. I am ready to hear those words, Bon VoyAge!!!

A sweater might be too hot in some parts of the country, even if it is lightweight. But, for someone like me who is always cold, this would be something that I could wear all summer long. I love the light blue color of this sweater and the dark navy wording that matches the stripes at the hem and cuffs. I am wearing a size large sweater, and I think it is the perfect size for me. The sweater fits great, and it still has room if I want to layer it over a long sleeve top in the fall.

These wide-leg navy chinos look great with the sweater, but I prefer my pants a little longer. I am 5’6″ tall and prefer a 32″ inseam instead of the 30 1/2″ inseam. As a child, I struggled with pants being long enough for me, which still haunts me today.

I had to size down from my usual size 10 to a size 8 in these chinos. The sizes are limited on these, so I’ll see if I can find something similar for you.

I think that a white on white look is fabulous for summer. This linen blend shirt is one that I ordered because of the fabric, but I ended up sending it back because of the fabric. Lol!

I loved the idea of wearing a linen blend shirt for the coolness factor in the summer heat. However, I just wasn’t wild about the “stiffness” of the material, and I wanted something softer against my skin. So, I ended up returning this shirt, and I’m ordering one by the same manufacturer that is cotton and modal. The look is the same, but the material is different. I am hoping that the modal will make the fabric more silky and flowy.

I did like the length of this top, and that is why I ordered the one below. I think they look almost identical, at least I hope that they are. The size that I am wearing is a large, but I think that I’ll order a medium in this one instead.

No, I haven’t banished all of my skinny jeans. I think they are great jeans, and I still intend to wear them for now. The loose-cut jeans are also fabulous, so I enjoy going back and forth between the two styles. When fall and winter rolls around, you’ll be glad that you kept those skinny jeans so that you can tuck them inside your boots. I’ve had these white ankle jeans for a while, and I still love how they look and fit. I am wearing my usual size 30 in the jeans, and they are a great fit. These jeans run a tiny bit big, but I didn’t size down because I like to wear a slightly larger size when I am wearing white.

I wore different earrings in each post, so I’ll link those here. They are the Rylan hoops, the AVI large hoops, and the Easton geometric hoops. I also see that I have on the Davis multi-strand necklace in some of the photos. I love that necklace since it is convertible, and I can wear it in several ways.

Love the peasant blouse so cute. I’m tall so it might not be long enough. Enjoying your post. Our body type is quite different but you give me great ideas. I live in Canada so often the sales don’t transfer.

  2. All three outfits are breathtaking! I especially love the peasant top–you look so cute in it!

  3. LAURA Parise says:

Hi Tania, I love your style and have purchased several of the outfits you have worn. The one question I have for you isnt about fashion. Do you know the paint color on the wall in your family room? It looks like it has some green in it?

    1. Laura, I am not sure what color the green is. It was painted that color when we bought the house.

  4. Lee Rosenthall says:

    Love all the outfits, Tania!

It’s funny, I’m almost exactly the same height and weight as you, but my length is in my torso (and neck), plus I’m a 36DDD, so I need a size (or two!) larger in most garments than you wear and often choose petites in full-length pants. That adorable Madewell peasant top at 23.75″ is WAY too short for me (going by the Madewell measurements, not Nordstrom here).

I keep suggesting to other women that they figure out what length slacks look best on THEM and focus on those sweet spots. (Height, IMHO, is pretty much irrelevant.) For me, it’s 25″ for crops, 27″ for ankle-length, and absolutely no longer than 29″ for full length, unless I plan to wear heels, which is almost never. Tops have to be at LEAST 26″ in length, or they’re a no-go, which, alas, makes that adorable “Bon Voyage” sweater too short. (I’m particularly bummed because I just got some one-inch Ecco wedge sandals that are a cute navy/light blue combo; they’d be the perfect pairing, but I know it would drive me nuts to have to keep yanking my sweater down.)

Hope you have a wonderful time with your family!

  5. Would love to see a packing post. I was packing today for a trip for a grandson’s graduation. I hate packing!!

  6. Thanks for doing the IG posts with Jennifer and Deborah. They Are like visiting with fun girlfriends! How about a post of what to pack when travelling? Enjoy your time visiting family at long last!

  7. Katrina Dean says:

Easy travel packing: 3 tops, 3 bottoms that all mix & match = 9 outfits + 1 jacket/cardigan that goes with all. Add 2 coordinating scarves. Plus skin stuff, hair stuff & 1 good book = done!!!!

  8. Love the peasant blouse on you! I hope that you enjoy your trip goes as planned. I’m sure your family will be thrilled to see you.

  9. Have always loved peasant style tops, they always hide those little bumps and rolls that seem to pop up overnight. LOL

I did get a chuckle about having trouble finding pants long enough, try being 5’10”!

  10. Debby Lynch says:

Hope everything goes as planned for your Tennessee trip. I always size up on any white clothing!

  11. I would love to try white pants again. They always look so good on you. I’m 5’5″ and in the same weight range as you but they seem to add at least 10 lbs to my body.?
We live in an area that has 2 lakes so beach and boating are summer activities. I wear bathing suits 3 times a week for boating/paddleboarding and for 2 weeks each fall in Maui. My bathing suits and cover ups are really dated and worn. I’ve transitioned to tankinis and one pieces in the last few years.
Would you be able to do a post on bathing suits and coverups that arent toooo matronly in the future.
Thanks for all your fashion help.

  12. Have a wonderful trip and enjoy!!!! I am the same about wearing shorter pants. I am tall and wore hand-me-downs when I was a kid, so everyone made fun of me for having “floods” on (aka pants too short). It’s funny how childhood experiences haunt you for life. Great outfits, and I especially love that embroidered top. I love to travel but absolutely HATE packing.

  13. Love the outfits. Very summer like without being too beach like. Would you mind sharing the color of your green living room walls in the final picture? I love that green and would love to paint my home office that shade! Thanks and have a great family week!!!

    1. Jane, I don’t know the color of the walls. This is a new home for us and it was painted this color before we moved in.

  14. Have a wonderful trip and visit with your family! Can’t wait to see pictures from your trip and hear about your adventures!!

    1. I’ll try to take photos. But, when I am with family, I am terrible about taking photos.

  15. Enjoy your family visit! Cute outfits.

    1. I am very excited to see everyone again. I know that we will have a great time together.

  16. Ava Nickerson says:

ENJOY your family. Praying for a safe trip.

    1. Thanks, Ava. I am very excited to finally see my family again.
