March Is Going Out Like A Lamb

Holy week is over. The deed has been done. Tears were shed. But, now – let the celebration begin! March might have roared in like a lion, but this year, it is going out like a Lamb. Not just any lamb, but THE Lamb. The Lamb was sacrificed for everyone, including those doing the sacrificing. A lion might have torn everything to bits, but the Lamb went meekly.

I was thinking about all of the events that happened, and for some reason, I started to laugh. That is not my usual reaction when I think back on the pain that mankind brought to Jesus. He was betrayed, lied on, beaten, and spit on. He endured the most horrible death, even though he was the one and only pure Lamb of God. So, why did I all of a sudden start to laugh?

Do you know what tomorrow is? It is April 1st, commonly known as April Fool’s Day. I imagine Jesus pulling off the ultimate April Fool’s prank. He rose from the dead and went around telling everyone, “April Fools!” “Did you really think YOU could kill ME?”

Did satan actually think he could win? Was he doing a little dance and delighting in the thought that he killed the son of God? I would have loved to have seen his reaction when he found out that Jesus was not dead after all. Did he spit fire? Did he rant and rave, and kick bunnies? Maybe that is why he is always displicted as being red.

On the other hand, consider Mary’s reaction when she realized the tomb was empty. I would guess she was upset and thought someone had taken away Jesus’ body. However, her look would change to one of wonder and excitement once she figured out that Jesus was alive and standing in front of her.

John 20:16-18 NIV

16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”). 17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

The Lamb was alive, but the sacrifice remained. He died for our sins and rose for our salvation. Because He lives, we can have life eternal, and that is no prank.

Jesus – WON, satan -ZERO! Someone might want to give satan a heads-up; he doesn’t stand a chance.

To GOD Goes The Glory!

Have A Blessed Day!
