LET THE CELEBRATION OF MOTHERS BEGIN
Happy Mother’s Day to everyone! Happy Birthday to ME!!! On Sunday’s post, I talk to myself out loud for all of you to read. I need to be inspired and I need to know that everything will not always be perfect and that is okay.
Birthday’s are easy for me. I am just happy to see another one come around each year. I am healthy as far as I know and I feel good. That is the best present I can ask for. Today I turned 57. I can remember as a child thinking that anyone who was 50 had to be ancient. I am sure most of you felt the same way too. I don’t feel ancient at all! I feel young! I feel happy! I feel loved! I feel blessed!!!
Mother’s Day is harder. I don’t live close to my mother, she is 5 hours away. I do get to talk to her on a regular basis and that is pretty special. I am also a mother three times over and for that I am grateful. Each one of my children has enriched my life in numerous ways. I can’t even begin to list all the blessings I have received from being their mother. But, only one child lives close to me so that means that I won’t be able to see the other two today. I probably will make those two do “facetime” so I can see their faces but it is still not the same.
However, I know that this day is not a happy one for many people. They struggle with emotions that can be heartbreaking. I know for some that this might be the first Mother’s Day without your mom or without a child. For you, I am saying a prayer. I know that some of you might not have had the warm fuzzy relationship with your mom and this is not a day you feel like celebrating. I recently came across this on Facebook and I wanted to share this with you.
MOTHERS DAY
“To those who gave birth this year to their first child—we celebrate with you
To those who lost a child this year – we mourn with you
To those who are in the trenches with little ones every day and wear the badge of food stains – we appreciate you
To those who experienced loss this year through miscarriage, failed adoptions, or running away—we mourn with you
To those who walk the hard path of infertility, fraught with pokes, prods, tears, and disappointment – we walk with you. Forgive us when we say foolish things. We don’t mean to make this harder than it is.
To those who are foster moms, mentor moms, and spiritual moms – we need you
To those who have warm and close relationships with your children – we celebrate with you
To those who have disappointment, heart ache, and distance with your children – we sit with you
To those who lost their mothers this year – we grieve with you
To those who experienced abuse at the hands of your own mother – we acknowledge your experience
To those who lived through driving tests, medical tests, and the overall testing of motherhood – we are better for having you in our midst
To those who will have emptier nests in the upcoming year – we grieve and rejoice with you
And to those who are pregnant with new life, both expected and surprising –we anticipate with you
This Mother’s Day, we walk with you. Mothering is not for the faint of heart and we have real warriors in our midst. We remember you.”
