LAYERING IS THE KEY TO WARMTH AND STYLE
Have I ever mentioned that technology can get on my last nerve? If not, then I am mentioning it today. I have to use ZOOM quite a lot with my business, and since the pandemic hit, there has been a huge uptick in people on ZOOM. For some reason, people in this world get their jollies by causing havoc and trouble. Because those people decided to hack into normal ZOOM meetings, there are now lots of hoops that you have to jump through to jump on a ZOOM meeting. One of those hoops is that you need to enter a password or a passcode to join the meeting.
People like me don’t really need these extra hoops since there are only a few people joining the call. Plus, we all know each other, and I don’t admit anyone whose name I don’t recognize. However, I went to join my own meeting yesterday, and I couldn’t log on because I didn’t know the password. I could get on from a different device, but I couldn’t even locate the password in the app so that I could tell it to my attendees. After fiddling with it for 30 minutes, I decided to wait and deal with it today. I hope that I have better luck today, especially since I have a ZOOM meeting tonight at 9:00 pm. I guess technology isn’t really the problem; it is people who are always trying to hack, steal, and cause trouble. But, if any of you know where to find the password settings on ZOOM, be sure to let me know.
Today, my post is all about layering. Layering is the easiest and best way to stay warm in the fall and winter. You want to layer so that you can control how warm you want to stay. However, I also think that layering is all about style. The more layers you add, the more stylish your outfit looks.
I like staying in the same color family when I layer, but that is not a fashion rule. I just like the cohesive look that it gives when you stay in the same hues. Today’s look started with this heathered gray cashmere-blend tank top. If I am going to layer, then I want the bottom layer to be as soft as possible against my skin. This tank delivers in the softness department! It fits a tiny bit large, so I ordered the medium, and I am pleased with how it fits.
There is a tiny bit of lurex at the neckline and arms, which add a touch of sparkle. So, you could wear this tank with a fancy skirt to head out on the town. The tank is on sale in gray, navy, and red for only $20.85! Yep, you can get this soft cashmere-blend top for under 21.00! The matching pants are also on sale, so be sure to grab those too since they are under $30.00.
Since the tank was sleeveless, then I added an oatmeal-colored cashmere-blend open front cardigan in a long length. I know that oatmeal and gray are not in the same color family, but they look great together, and both of these items are in a soft tone, which I love. I love a long cardigan, and I think that it elongates your look. I am 5’6″ tall, just in case any of you were wondering. I am wearing a size 1 (8-10) in this cardigan, and it comes in sizes from 0 to 22, so you should be able to find your size.
The back view is also another reason that I love a longer cardigan. I think that it looks more pleasing when the cardigan goes past your rear.
Sometimes I will add a scarf for extra warmth, but there are times when I add a scarf to tie the outfit together. This scarf has a silver background with a touch of lurex for a little sparkle, and it also has a beige looking print to tie in the cardigan. I love the print of this scarf, and since it is an animal print and a neutral color, it will go with almost anything. Plus, it is also on sale, so be sure to give it a look-see.
I will probably lose some of you with my So-Slimming Ecru colored Slim pants. If you are on team, “wear white/off white/ivory” after Labor Day, then you will love these pants. If you still can’t bring yourself to wear any form of white after Labor Day, you should think about adding different color pants such as black, gray, sand, or even jeans. I am wearing my usual size .5 in these pants, even though I normally wear a size 10 in most brands.
One last layer that I would add in the winter is a nice coat. I hate getting chilled to the bone, so I try to keep nice and warm, and this camel wool-blend coat gives me just enough warmth for our Virginia weather. This is not a heavy-duty coat; it is more of a medium-duty coat. I love the unique double collar detail and the tie waist. Normally, I let my coat hang open and tie the belt in the back unless it is freezing outside. I am wearing a size 1 (8-10) in the coat, and you can see that it has enough room for the cardigan underneath. However, if you are in-between sizes, I would suggest sizing up to wear a heavier sweater under it with no issues. The coat is also on sale for 50% off, so if you are looking for a nice everyday long coat, this is one that you might want to consider.

You look absolutely STUNNING in this outfit. I think this is the most elegant & sophisticated look you have worn. So much fun to see how your style has evolved over the years!
I always enjoy your style posts (I follow on Pinterest), but would really love to know what paint colors you used on your door and trim.
I love EVERYTHING about this outfit! It’s classy, stylish, and very expensive looking. You look fabulous in this! It’s very polished, sexy too. Great look today!
I would like to come to your house and try on all of your sweaters, jackets, and wraps! That would be easier than ordering it all!
Beautiful outfit Tania!
You look so beautiful and the pink nails add just a pop of color!
I love almost everything you style! But I need to shop more from my closets and attempt to buy less, I would love to simplify my wardrobe and utilize it better, so much of what I buy never gets worn or worn very little. A capsule wardrobe has always been of interest to me.
I like all the neutral colors together. It really works. Although my mom beat it in my head to never wear white after Labor Day, I’m coming around on that point so the pants work for me too. All I can say about the coat is….ooh I like that! Nice post today. Good luck with the Zoom issue.
The colors in this outfit are gorgeous!
I love these colors together❤️. I like to layer because you never know when a hot flash is coming.
Very chic! Pinned it!
Tania, I absolutely love this outfit on you! It looks so sophisticated and classy…just beautiful, especially with your hair color! Also, (not that you asked) but I like your longer length hair nowadays…looks great! Bravo, girl!
As always! I’m not very good at layering so thanks for the tips.
so you are in .5?
If I normally wear a 6 would I go down to 0?
Audrey, that is what I would suggest. However, you might want to order both sizes for the first time and then send back the pair that doesn’t fit. I like my pants to fit close to my body, so I size down.
Love today’s outfit!! You look so gorgeous!
I am so glad that you liked the look. It is one of my favorites.
Hi Tanya, when you schedule a meeting I believe you can uncheck the box for a passcode requirement for the meeting. I always do that when I set up meetings so people dont have to do that. Not sure if your version allows that, but it’s worth a try. Good luck
Thanks, Lauren. That is the weird part, I don’t have the passcode required box checked.
Love all these outfits. That coat is to die for but not practical at all up here in Boston.
Thought of you today as I matched my leopard shoes (Old Navy based on your recommendation) with my leopard mask.
Happy New Year!
Elizabeth, you would need a heavier coat in Boston for sure!!!
I absolutely love this look. Muted and understated, perfect for a night out with the hubby or a casual work day. Beautiful.
I agree, Angie. It is a very elegant and classy look.
I love this look! A nice, slimming neutral palette.
Yes! I love the neutral palette also.
Tania, I think you’re safe from the fashion police. My mom was very strict with the Labor Day rule, but considered ecru a “winter white”, allowed from Christmas until pure white came back after Easter. I’ve always considered it a classy look, and you proved it today!
I have never heard the after Christmas part of the fashion rule. Thanks for sharing that.
The camel coat on you brings the look all together. It is a, wow! I feel the grey and white washed you, but the camel with those worked. Beautiful outfit.
I love all the neutral colors and how well they blended together.
When I click on the tank – it says it’s $69.50. Am I doing something wrong?
Hi Rachel— I saw the same thing, and then realized that the navy, gray, and red colors are only $20.85. The English Toffee color is $69.50. I’m all in on the gray one for under $21.
Thanks for answering Rachel. I wish the toffee-colored one was on sale, but I am grabbing the others anyway.
Rachel, some of the colors are still 69.50, but the navy, gray, and red are on sale.
Thanks Tania – I didn’t even think to click on the other colors! Grabbing the red and gray now!
Tania, I love this outfit on you. So elegant and stunning. I just ordered 2 pairs of the pants from Chicos and can’t wait to style them with my different sweaters and wraps! Thank you so much for all your great syling tips and always uplifting posts!
I love Chico’s clothing because it is great quality and I can wear it for years.
Love this look, quick question can I wear white jeans?
Absolutely!!! I love white jeans and own several pairs.
Here’s a tip I got from a helpful sales clerk at Old Navy: if you want a slim fit, but don’t like how tight skinny jeans feel in the knee area, go up one size. It worked for me!
Tania-I love this outfit. You have done a great job coordinating the pieces, and it looks very classy on you! On another note, I would like to suggest Bandolino jeans to be shown sometime on your blog. They are great, fit me well, and are a reasonable price. Thanks, Nancy
I’ll look into those jeans. I am always looking for new brands that are affordable but still look and fit nicely.
It’s literally in the invite link you send to people. Nice coat. – Sister
Nope. Not there. You and I will facetime later and I will show you what it is doing.
I love the outfit. I really want to wear white jeans in the winter (if I ever go out again!), but it never works for me. Jo-Lynne styled something similar to this, and I want to try the look. You look great in this outfit. Since we will be moving to North Carolina late spring/summer, I need to look at more layering. I have several cardigans; now I need to look at what to wear under them since here it is usually a long-sleeved t-shirt.

Thanks, Arna. I am so glad that you are enjoying the look today. I actually have the password, but it is wanting a passcode to join my own meeting. I don’t have a passcode enabled.
Beautiful outfit!
Here is how I find my zoom info-there may be an easier way but it works for me lol

*click on the name of your meeting you need info for and the id and password will then be listed. Hope that helps.
Thanks. I have the password to log in to ZOOM, it is asking for a passcode, and I have that setting turned off. Not sure why it is asking for one.
The way you put together the neutrals is gorgeous!!!
You look so pretty in those colors! Very nice outfit.
Gorgeous looks today. Love the layering. Especially love the ecru slacks. Very classy!
Look forward to a New Year with your funny/uplifting posts and great outfits! Finding Zoom password: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNxhkq9jjVo
Love the color combo. I would definitely wear this in the winter!
I love the muted tones of the look.
Wow! This winter outfit is spectacular. Love every item & the way you combined them,
Yay!!! I love it when an outfit comes together.
Very classy outfit!
Love the layer look. The colors pull everything together.
Thanks, Alison!
