LAYERING IS THE KEY TO TRANSITIONING TO FALL

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is transitioning to fall in a black v-neck tank top, a olive green camo jacket, beige bootcut jeans, and taupe ankle booties all from Walmart Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love all of the fall colors and the crispness that is in the air. It tells me that it is time to make smores over a fire and snuggle under a blanket. Transitioning my summer wardrobe to make it fall-ready is a simple process, and here is a cute outfit that will get you in the mood for fall.

A basic summer tank top can become the building block for your fall transition outfit. The sleeveless tank top will look great when layered with a cardigan, blazer, or jacket this fall. I love this ribbed tank by Athletic Works, and it is incredibly soft to the touch. It is flowy and has a lot of stretchiness, so it fits like a dream. I think that a v-neck is the most flattering on me, and this tank features a double v-neck. You look great coming and going with this tank. I am wearing a size medium in this tank, and I think that it runs true to size. Here are a couple of different tank tops for you in case you don’t like the v-neck version.

I have a love/hate relationship with camouflage. The camo pattern appeals to me since I am a fan of neutrals and nature. However, most camouflage doesn’t look great against my skin, so I tend to stay away for the olive green versions. But, there was something about this lightweight camo jacket that grabbed my attention. I liked the cropped boxy look of the jacket, and I love that it is a linen/viscose blend. I want a lined and structured jacket when it is a dress jacket, but for this casual look, I prefer the unlined and lightweight look. If camo is not your cup of tea, this jacket also comes in green and ivory.

Bootcut jeans are great for fall. I fell in love with this brown stone color by Time and Tru because of the unique color. I have lots of jeans, but this was the first pair that I have found in this neutral shade. Bootcut jeans tend to hug your hips and thighs and then flare out from the knee down. These jeans look good with almost anything, and that slight flare at the hem helps to balance out your body, especially if you have wider hips. I am 5’6″ tall, and the 31.5″ inseam is fine even with my heeled ankle boots. I am wearing a size 10 in these jeans, and they fit me perfectly. You might also want to consider straight leg jeans if you are not a fan of the bootcut leg.

Wearing a neutral boot in the same color as your pants will help to elongate your legs. The Time and Tru taupe zipper bootie is a perfect ankle bootie that you can wear with jeans or dresses. The boots have a memory foam insole to help with your comfort, and the heel is only 1 1/2″ high, which will be a height that most people can wear. This bootie also comes in several different colors and wide width.

How many of you go to Walmart at least once a week? I love being able to do almost all of my shopping in one place instead of having to run all over town, picking up an item or two at different stores. I love finding clothing that works for my budget, but I demand that it be stylish also. Walmart offers free 2-day shipping on most orders that are over $35.00 and even free returns. Walmart makes it very convenient for their customers, especially since most people have a store within 10 miles of their homes.

Our Walmart keeps their perfume in a locked glass case. When I ask if they would let me smell some of them, the lady just walked away and never came back. I don’t think she understood me. All Gods children gotta eat though so I didn’t say anything.
I love black and camo together. I do like olive green and have several purses and pants but I can’t wear it next to my face. On my way to buy a pair of Vans with fish on them, They should be fun to wear on the beach. Sandal time will soon be over.

I don’t wear olive green often around my face either, but this jacket seemed different. I think that the color is different from others that I’ve seen.

Cute ideas! Not a fan of Walmart in my area due to the overall poor management there — plus I live in an increasingly Spanish speaking area and while they call themselves bilingual the employees just give you a blank stare when you ask where stuff is. And mine doesn’t have groceries. They have a few packaged foods and some canned stuff but it is geared toward the Latino shopper. But nothing fresh or organic or healthy. So sad! And there are homeless in the parking lot. Did I ever say I am moving? Can’t be too soon. I did go online and order the jeans. My jeans are all blue! Well I have a pair that is black but that’s it!

Is the tank top black? It’s hard to tell in the picture. Looks like it could be brown or deep purple. When I click on the picture of the tank it goes right to black, so I assume it’s black…but it’s sold out! Oh well.
Love the layering and that’s a really cute, casual outfit!

    Hi Tania,
That same combo caught my I at Walmart. I’m going to upgrade the jacket with nicer buttons. I especially appreciate the review and fit analysis of the jeans, because the fitting rooms are closed at this time.
    Great post. Thank you.
