HOW TO LAYER IN THE FALL AND WINTER WITHOUT OVER-HEATING
It is Thursday, and I am excited for the day to unfold. Sometimes we look so forward to the weekends that we forget how wonderful a Thursday can be. Today, I get to go to the salon to get my hair trimmed and colored, and I love getting to visit again with Jessica. I’m hoping that I can squeeze in a nail appt., but my girl has been in quarantine, so I’m not sure if that will happen. But, the best news about Thursday is, it is the day after Wednesday.
Wednesday night, my son and his family came to visit for a few days. They live in Tennessee, so I don’t get to see them as often, and I am looking forward to spending a few days with them. I think they plan on riding the Virginia Creeper Trail, a gorgeous and scenic trail that meanders for 34.3 miles through Southwest Virginia.
Abingdon is the start of the trail, so it is perfect for them to go and enjoy, even if not the entire 34 miles. The foilage should still be gorgeous, so I know THEY, not me, will have a great time. I’m afraid my bottom wouldn’t do so well on a bike, but I told Joe it is on my bucket list for this spring. I’m going to start with a ride around the neighborhood first. Lol!

Did you catch my blog post on Tuesday where I styled one pair of pants multiple ways? If not, then check it out since that will give you even more ideas on how to style items in your closet to get more wear for your money.
We all need layering pieces, especially in fall and winter. A layering piece can add extra warmth, and for those who live in colder climates, they are essential and pretty. Depending on your weather, you can choose the thickness of the layering piece, but today, mine is lightweight.
I wear a lot of tanks and shells as layering pieces if I know that I won’t be removing my cardigan, blazer, or coat. If the completer piece will be taken off at some point, then I want to have the layering piece to be able to be worn alone. This merino wool-blend turtleneck looks fabulous even without a blazer or cardigan, but it is lightweight enough to wear under a coat if needed.
I noticed that you could see my nude-colored bra, but that is because I have a bright light shining on me. When the light is off, the bra doesn’t show through. But, the turtleneck is lightweight and not thick. I wear a large, and I have this top in black, burgundy, and loden green. I bought the ivory, but I found it too thin, and I could see my jeans through it.
I’ve always loved corduroy pants, and this year, corduroy is trending! That makes me happy, and I’m wearing this fabric more and more. Talbots has great corduroy pants, and this twig-colored straight-leg pair gets an A+ from me. The fit is fantastic, and they feel fabulous. I am wearing an 8 since I’ve found that I need to size down one size in Talbot’s pants and jeans.
I also love that Talbot’s offers petite and plus sizes since those are getting harder and harder to find. Old Navy also offers a wide variety of sizes so that you can check them out for your clothing. These corduroy pants come in several other colors, and if you are brave, there is a bright pink pair that is gorgeous!
This is one way that I would wear this outfit if I wanted to add a completer piece. Wearing a completer piece adds interest or texture, as well as adds warmth. Plus, I like that I can introduce another color to my look.
These three fall colors go great with each other. I could have added a scarf with these colors to tie the look together, but the cuffs and underside of the collar have these fabulous fall plaid, and I liked how the print wasn’t as bold as a scarf would be.
This quilted corduroy coat/jacket is lightweight and perfect for fall. It wouldn’t be heavy enough for my winter weather in Virginia, but it would be fine for those with warmer climates. This is a great way to have a fall outfit when you live in those warmer areas, and rolling the cuffs wouldn’t be a problem.
I love the length of this jacket since it is a little longer than my hips. While I love the look of the rolled cuffs the best, I would probably wear it un-rolled now and roll them in early fall and spring. The jacket looks great either way, but I love the plaid detail, and it makes the jacket have visual interest. I am wearing a medium, and this size works great for me.
I’ve been trying some new products for a couple of weeks c/o City Beauty. I hadn’t planned to mention them to you yet since I’ve only been using a few of these, and only for a few weeks. But, City Beauty is having a HUGE 40% off site-wide sale, and I don’t want you to miss out on the savings.
You have heard me say many times that I have extremely dry skin. Part of that might be Thyroid issues, but most of it is hereditary, and I’ve passed it along to my children. So, I am always looking for products that can help my skin be more hydrated and eliminate the crepey look that comes with aging.
The Body Sculpt Firming Complex was the first product that I tried. I’ve only been using it for a few weeks, and I swear I am starting to see improvement. You have to give any skincare product time to work, especially if you want to see long-term results. I use a pump or two for each arm and then rub it in.
This product isn’t greasy or heavy, and it absorbs quickly into the skin. I am applying the Body Sculpt Firming Complex twice a day, and since the bottle was starting to feel light, I ordered more and signed up for the auto-ship to get it at a discount.
Since I liked the Body Sculpt Firming Complex so much, I asked City Beauty to send me the Restoring Hand Treatment and InvisiCrepe Body Balm to try. Can you tell that I have an obsession with finding relief for my dry skin? Lol!
I’ve just started using these two products, so I don’t have any results to share with you. However, I can tell you that they have a pleasant smell, and the products absorb quickly. That is important, especially if you need to get dressed to head out the door. I hate it when my pants stick to my legs because I have on cream. Haha!
