IT IS JUST NOT FAIR

Do you have a sibling that always seemed to have everything given to them? Are they pretty, smart, popular, wealthy, or your parent’s pet? Were they the Homecoming Queen, the Head Cheerleader, the captain of the football team’s girlfriend? It is just not fair!
How about health issues, why is it that some can eat everything in sight and not gain an ounce of weight? Why does cancer seem to run in my family, or why did my child have to be born with a disease? Why was my friend who never hurt anyone killed by a drunk driver? It is just not fair!
I have uttered those same words many, many times in my life. Everyone else gets to go to the party, it’s not fair! The injustice that comes your way doesn’t have to be large, the little things count too. But who told us that life was going to be fair? Where does it say that one person can’t be “luckier” than another?
Have you ever had someone say something mean or hurtful to you? I am almost positive everyone answered that question with a yes. Have you ever been the someone who said something mean or hurtful? I think there were a bunch of yeses there too. When that happens, how do you react? Do you try to get even? Do you fuss and grumble and tell everyone who will listen how much you were wronged? Or do you do like I do and just hope that karma comes around to bite them in the butt. Why do we feel the need to get even or set the record straight?
In my prayers, I am always asking for the Lord to forgive me of my sins, but do I readily forgive those who treat me unfairly? Shamefully, the answer is no. I ask for the Lord to extend me Grace in my darkest hour, but do I show other’s Grace?
Colossians 3:12-14
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
We are not perfect, not even close. I don’t want you to ever think I write these posts as a sermon or lecture toward any of you. These posts are meant for me, I am sharing them with you just in case there is someone else out there who could also need a little boost. If you know of someone who would benefit, please feel free to share. Getting the Lord’s word out is a wonderful blessing.
I am thankful that the Lord does not treat me fairly. If he based His forgiveness and His grace on how I treat others, I would not have a chance. I can only hope that one day I will earn His forgiveness and grace. I know I already have His love, and for that I am humbled.
Have a Blessed Sunday!
Thank you for this post. I really needed this today! Continued blessings to you.
