I am not sure why a quote or a song always comes to my mind when I am starting a post. Since I am highlighting raincoats today, the song, “Into each life some rain must fall,” popped into my head. I didn’t even know that was a song until I Googled it, I just thought it was a quote that I had heard all my life. Turns out, it’s a song by Ella Fitzgerald, but that was before my time.
I agree with the title of the song, we all will have rain in our life. I know that those of you in California don’t get rain as I do here in Virginia, but, you’ve at least experienced it before. My daughter lives in Alaska, which is a temperate rainforest, just not the hot variety. It rains there almost daily, and the people who live there have long since thrown away their umbrellas. Instead, they wear a rain coat, and when it rains, you raise the hood.
I don’t get that much rain, but I do get enough that I need a rain jacket or two, and I want them to be cute. The two that I am showing you today are both super cute, stylish, and have hoods. I’ve never understood why a rain jacket would come without a hood, can someone explain that to me? Lol!
Evidently, the brand decided to do a website update, and their website is down. So, you can go here for a sweater that is almost identical.
Let me first start with my washable v-neck sweater. Did you notice the word washable? This gorgeous camel sweater looks so luxurious that I would swear it had to be dry cleaned, but it doesn’t. I looked up the fabric and found that it is made with sustainable yarns. The website says, “Our lightweight yarn has an extra twist during the spinning process creating a smoother surface that’s less likely to pill over time.” Most sweaters will pill eventually, so I am interested to see if these sweaters hold up to their claim.
I love the camel color, and I think that it is great for fall, but I’m thinking about the Beet Root color also. These sweaters are super soft and are a great price. I am wearing a large for the extra volume, and I like the way that it fits.
I’m sure my neighbors wonder why I am always standing in my driveway with a tripod. Lol! You will not find a cuter rainjacket for fall anywhere! The jacket is lightweight, breathable, and packable. This rain jacket also features a seam-sealed DryVent® shell to withstand the heaviest downpours, secure-zip welt pockets, adjustable hook-and-loop cuffs, and zip underarm vents.
This is an ideal rainjacket whether you’re running errands, taking a walk around the neighborhood, or hiking in the mountains. It is PFC-free, meaning the durable water-repellent coating is free of per- and poly-fluorinated chemicals, some of which can be harmful to the environment. I am wearing a large, and it is plenty roomy for me.
Here is the behind the scenes look, so that you can gauge the length of the jacket.
I love wearing bootcut jeans, and these by JEN7 are one of my favorite pairs. The fit is great for a woman’s body, they are snug in all of the right places, and the bootcut style is universally flattering. The only warning that I will give is, bootcut and flare jeans usually have a longer inseam since they are to be worn with boots. These are a 33″ inseam, which works great for me since a 32″ inseam is what I wear with small heels and flats.
I love these tan suede cap toe booties!!! The pointy toe and the different textures of the boots really make it stand out to me. I have this boot is this tan and in black, and they are the first ankle boot that I will reach for. These boots are slightly dressier than most ankle boots, so that sets them apart also. The boots run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size 9.
The last part of this outfit is my Tory Burch McGraw handbag! I am loving the size of this handbag, and the color is a perfect muted camel. However, I just saw that this color has sold out, but there is a lovely Claret in stock. Plus, I see that the handbag is on sale, and it is now $149.00 off retail! That is a great deal for such a nice handbag!
The rainjacket above was great for fall, and this whimsical one is perfect for spring and summer. This rainjacket is so bright and happy, how could rain bring you down?
This packable raincoat is much longer than the fall rainjacket above. The raincoat features two exterior patch pockets (jacket folds into one for packing), a draw-cord at waist and hood, and it long-sleeved.
I paired the raincoat with a white v-neck Wearever short-sleeve tee. However, this v-neck tee is not available in white, but it is available in a couple of other colors. I am wearing a medium, and it fits me great. I love the Wearever line since it is pretty much wrinkle-free, and it is great for any time you are traveling.
The jewelry that I wore with both outfits is gold-tone. These items are my go-to for any time I want to look put together. The lightweight large hoop earrings, the Jack multi-strand necklace (on final clearance), and my 18kt. gold vermeil cross necklace looks fabulous with jeans or a dress, making them very versatile.
Here is a look at the back of this raincoat. I told you that this one was long, and it will make sure that your behind stays dry.
I am wearing my Jag skinny jeans, and I LOVE the pull-on feature. These jeans are super comfortable, and even though they are skinny jeans, they don’t feel confining. Since I got used to wearing loose-fitting jeans over the summer, the skinny jeans that are constricting drive me bonkers. These jeans skim my legs but don’t compress them. I am wearing my usual size 10, so they run TTS,
You know that I try to be honest in my description of items, so I’m going to say that I am not a fan of the shoes. A blogger friend of mine said these shoes (in a different color) were her favorite purchase from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Maybe it is the color, or the square toe, or the oversized chain across the foot; but either way, I am sending these back. I’ll be interested in hearing your thoughts. They do run TTS, and I am wearing my usual size 9.
So, if some rain must fall, at least we can look cute and fashionable in our rain attire! BTW, isn’t my burning bush gorgeous???
Can you believe that I’ve been blogging for SIX YEARS?!?!?
So many things have changed since September 2015. My blog was just getting started in 2015.
