Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a Inside the Dressing room try on at Old Navy

Happy Saturday! I am once again bringing you an Inside the Dressing Room post from Old Navy, even though that was not in my plans. My DIL and I went to a small shopping plaza near us to take photos for upcoming posts. But, once we got there, the rain set in, and we decided to go shopping. Lol! Adapt and overcome is my motto, especially when shopping in on the agenda.

Once I saw all of the cute clothing, I decided to try on a few things while she went shopping for the grands. To help you gauge how the clothing will look on you, here are my stats. I am 5’6″ tall, and I weigh between 155-165 at any given time. Usually, I wear a size 10 in bottoms, a 12 in dresses, a 9 in shoes and boots, and either a medium or large in tops.

I’ll show you all of the clothing, but first I want to tell you about my week. I haven’t shared a story in a while, and this one has had me pulling out my hair.

On July 5th, I went with the grandbabies (all 5 of them) to a waterpark. We had a fabulous time, but when we got back to my car, we discovered that the windshield had a large crack in it. Apparently, I had a rock/pebble hit my windshield at some time because we found a tiny chip at the edge of the windshield. My car is usually parked in a garage, but it was out in the hot sun for about 6-7 hours while we were at the park. The heat must have caused the chip to expand into a crack since we didn’t have anything hit the car that day.

No problem, or at least that is what I thought. I have a free replacement with my auto insurance, and I called to tell them what happened. Several calls later, an appointment was set up with a glass company about 1.5 hours away. Apparently, there is a shortage of “new” car parts, and my windshield was nowhere to be found. It has to be replaced with a “smart” windshield since it has a heads-up display, etc., in it.

It has taken from July to now for a windshield to be located. I have been lucky that the crack stopped expanding right as it got to my line of sight. The glass company called and said they had located the glass and wanted to set up an appointment for this past Wednesday or Thursday. I picked Wednesday since they had told me from previous conversations that it could take 1 to 2 days to fix the windshield since they had to calibrate the glass.

They picked up my car on Wednesday and Friday morning; I texted them to ask if they would be bringing my car back that day. They replied, “no, it will probably be Tuesday or Wednesday before we get the glass and get it installed.” WHAT??? Why, on earth, would you pick up my car without the glass in hand? Joe was livid, to say the least, and he called them to tell them that we were coming after the car and would bring it back once they had the glass in hand.

Guess what??? They told him that he couldn’t come and get the car because they had already taken out my windshield. I thought that he was going to explode! So, I am without a car because all of the local rental cars are out of stock. I am praying that the windshield comes in; otherwise, I am unsure when I will ever get my car back!

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing an oversized ruffled top with straight leg jeans

Be sure to read to the end of this post; I have an announcement that you don’t want to miss!

Sorry, I guess that was a whole lot of venting. Lol! Let’s talk instead about my Old Navy dressing room try-on session. What great timing!!! Old Navy is having an Up to 50% off storewide! Ignore the wrinkles; remember this is a dressing room try-on. Lol!

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing an button-up ruffled top

I love the color of this oversized ruffled v-neck blouse! It is a great fall color, and I love the small ruffled detail. Plus, you already know that a v-neck is my favorite neckline since it is universally flattering. The online version looks darker than my top, but that is because I upped the exposure (lighted it) so that you could see the details of the top.

Here is a look so that you can judge the length of the top. I am wearing a medium, and the fit is good. It is a tiny bit oversized, but that is the way that it is supposed to look.

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing straight leg jeans

These dark wash jeans are mid-rise jeans, and they feature a slim straight leg. The jeans aren’t oversized and loose like many jeans that you find in the stores, but they aren’t tight like skinny jeans either. I like straight-leg jeans, and I think they flatter almost everyone, so you should be able to wear these.

I am wearing my usual size 10 in these jeans, and the fit is perfect. These also come in Petites and Plus sizes, and I noticed that Old Navy has a Bod E Quality message.

This is awesome, and I know you ladies who have had to pay more for your clothing are going to be thrilled!

Sorry for the crap that is on the mirror; it is not on the top. I am afraid this is one of those tops that won’t look as good in photos as in person. I love this half-zip quilted sweatshirt, and the olive color is the one that spoke to me.

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing an quilted sweatshirt

This is my kind of lounging top because it is so soft and oversized. The only drawback to this top is that it is cropped, but it looks great with mid to high-rise jeans. The sweatshirt comes in several colors, but I thought the olive color would be perfect for this fall. I am wearing a large because I wanted the top to be oversized and relaxed, but a medium would have fit me otherwise.

Forgive me for the shaky photo. I shake a lot anyway (inherited trait) and, because I wasn’t planning on doing a dressing room try-on, I didn’t bring my suction cup holder that holds my phone. I think that you can still get an idea of how the button-up shirt looks and the photo below will show a better view of the print and length.

For all of my trouble, the shirt is not on the website, except in maternity. I promise you that I am not wearing a maternity shirt, especially since my DIL bought it also, and she wears a size 2. There are a lot of flannel shirts at Old Navy, though, and I’ll link some of them below.

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing plaid flannel shirt and a puffer vest with bootcut jeans

I threw on this quilted vest over the flannel shirt for days when the weather gets cooler. I loved this color, but I also loved the green color in the vest. Since I am showing you a lot of green today, I decided to showcase this color instead.

There is plenty of inventory online, but the stores are crazy picked over. This vest was only available in medium or plus sizes in my store. I figured that I could at least take a photo of the vest for you, even if it wouldn’t zip up. I am proud to say that I could zip the vest without any issue, but I would probably still buy the large instead. If I want to wear it over a heavier sweater, I don’t want to feel squished.

UGH! That mirror! Remind me to take a cleaning cloth with me the next time I decide to do a dressing room try-on session. This flannel shirt looked so much like the other one that I almost missed linking to it. I had to look twice before I noticed the difference, and at least this one is in stock. I am wearing a medium in the shirt, and it fits well, except that the chest button is trying to gape open. I would either size up or put Hollywood Fashion Tape between the buttons to hold it closed.

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing plaid flannel shirt with a dark ivy cardigan

I know that this cozy knit cardigan looks navy, but I thought it was a deep teal instead. The website calls it a Dark Ivy, so your guess is as good as mine as to what that means. The sweater/cardigan runs oversized, so I am wearing a small, and it fits great. I am not sure why they think that everything has to hang on us this year.

Here is the side view for you so that you can see the length of the cardigan.

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing bootcut jeans

I love the look of these bootcut jeans, and they did end up coming home with me. But, I wasn’t sure if I liked the button-up fly on them. In the long run, the look of the jeans ended up convincing me to buy them, and I am glad that I did. I think I am wearing a medium rinse color, but there are so many different colors to choose from that I am not positive. Lol!

I am wearing my usual size 10 in these jeans, and I think that they run true to size.

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing a navy cable-knit cropped sweater with ripped straight leg jeans

I saw a lady carrying around this cable-knit sweater when I walked into the store. The knit pattern caught my eye, and I scoured the store until I finally found it. I was a little concerned about the cropped fit and thought that it might be too short. However, once I tried it on with the high-waisted jeans, it looked fine to me.

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing a navy cable-knit cropped sweater

The sweater is lightweight and oversized. I am wearing a small, so you know that it runs big. Lol! The sweater comes in 7 different colors, so I am sure that you will find one that you like.

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing ripped straight leg jeans

I haven’t styled ripped jeans in a while; I bet you thought I had forgotten about them. Lol! I couldn’t help myself when I saw these high-waisted O.G. straight ripped jeans. I like distressed jeans, but not the kind with large gaping holes. These jeans are okay for me, but I don’t want any with larger holes than these.

Since these are a curvy fit, I sized down (just barely) to a size 8. If you are in-between sizes, you probably want to go with the larger size to be sure.

Over 40 Fashion Blogger, Tania Stephens, is doing a try on at Old Navy wearing a leopard print long sleeve tee with ripped straight leg jeans

You probably think that this top caught my eye because of the print, and you would be right. However, the softness of the oversized leopard print tee prompted me to add it to my cart. I can find lots of items that are leopard print, but softness is a different matter. I showed it to my DIL, and she went to the children’s department and found one for Emersyn. Emersyn is like me; she wants soft over anything else.

To change the look, I added an open-front cardigan in charcoal. The cardigan is perfect for a cool fall morning, and the color will go with almost anything. I am wearing a medium, and I think that it fits me great.

I love that you aren’t afraid to wear “holey” pants. They look really good on you and thank you for sharing. I love your posts. It’s nice to see clothes that don’t shout “old lady”! Because as you know, 50 is not old!!! I also appreciate your transparency about yourself and are just down to earth.

  6. Congratulations on 6 years!

  13. Colleen Ann Freedman says:

I really enjoyed the Old Navy dressing room try ons!

  14. Tania, All manufacturing on car parts has been slowed down due the fact they can’t build cars and trucks without the chips. They are made overseas. You might want to call your dealership to see if you can get OEM (original equipment manufacture). A lot of glass companies use aftermarket. They fit better and connect with ease to your system. I work for a dealership in the parts department

  15. I’m a new subscriber to your blog. You look great in everything you style. Loved the dressing room try ons!

  16. Cathy Waters says:

I have followed you almost from the beginning. Congratulations on the anniversary of the blog. I loved the try on from Old Navy. I also relate to your car troubles because we have been without our car for two weeks. I shared the story with my husband because he can relate with Joe’s reaction. Good luck with the car. Looking forward to more of your great posts.

  17. This is a great try on post Tania. You look good in all of them. I keep looking for outfits that don’t highlight jeans with every look. I love jeans, but you can’t always wear them to all places. I look forward to tomorrow’s Sunday post – always the first email I read on Sunday.😊

  18. Teresa Kraft says:

I love everything you have on today! The only problem is I am 5’2” regular is to long and petite on me seems to short! I have a question I am retired now I am 62 I keep my 27 month old twin grandson’s so I really don’t go anywhere anymore 😂 I am so tired of looking like something the cat brought up everyday! I have worked my entire life now I really don’t know what to wear to feel better about me and doable for keeping the boys something comfortable. Jeans are not comfortable to me to wear everyday. Can you help me with some insight? I love your blog. I have ordered some things you have posted.
    Thank you so much!

  19. I especially love the scripture at the bottom. Thank you for always including scripture, and it is amazing the way they often mirror what I have been thinking about, as today’s was, or scripture I needed to see that day. I like your try-ons, and your stories that keep it real. Congratulations on your blog anniversary!

  20. I love your shoes in this post. Where did you get these? Are they comfortable? Thanks!

  21. I love Old Navy and check their website at least a couple of times a week for new items despite the fact that we have at least two stores within 15 minutes of our home, but I like a number of the items you highlighted, especially the cropped sweater (which you look great in, by the way) and the quilted half-zip. Because I’m petite, I usually have to order on online with ON for a short length (although I hear because of their inclusivity objective, they will be carrying more petites in the store in the future), because they rarely have them in the store unless they get a pair as a return. I’m not a button-fly gal, and they seem to have a lot of them right now at ON, but I am a straight-leg gal and agree they look great on most everyone. I usually avoid cable knit because I don’t like the way it looks chunky on me, but I like this crop sweater because it seems flatter and more like a pretty pattern.

  23. Cute clothes.
You may want to add a prayer or two for all the hard working people who do not even have a car at all. They walk in all kinds of weather and wait on buses.

  24. Happy Anniversary!! Have a wonderful weekend!

  25. I miss your funny stories and your front porch! Happy Anniversary! I look forward to reading your post every morning 😊 I also love when you get back to the more affordable stores. 😂

  26. Love, love your “inside the dressing room” posts. Keep them coming!❤️

  27. Christine Simpson says:

I had gummy windshield replaced last year prior to shortages. They recalibrated in my driveway at installation. Took about an hour and a half all told and it was done! I’m sorry they are doing this to you!
Congratulations on your 6 year mark!!! 🎊🍾

    1. Christine Simpson says:

Oops I didn’t see the typo before I hit enter 😂
      Meant my windshield not gummy

  28. Glad to hear that your unplanned back up plan worked out so well. I like both of the cardigans you tried on. I want to head to ON and feel/try them on. Maybe the leopard tee too because you said it was so soft. Now you and Emersyn can have matching outfits! Looking forward to that picture!

  29. Congrats on your blog, I look forward to it daily! I’m thrilled that you are a Godly woman and look forward to your scripture, they give me encouragement. Keep up the great work.

  30. I had something senseless like your car thing happen to. I live overseas. My laptop was diagnosed by the local Apple dealer as needing a new internal battery. It had to be ordered and would take a week. I asked if I could have my laptop back until it arrived. No I was told. Since they have already opened a case file they can’t let it out of their possession until it’s repaired!

  31. Donna Robinson says:

Congrats! I love your blog, it’s the only one I follow. Thank you for showing styles and different clothes. Thank you for helping me dress in style. I appreciate you always giving GOD the glory !

  35. ELIZABETH says:

These are some cute choices. They look great on you!

  36. Maribeth Conklin says:

Congrats! I enjoy following you. I love the outfit you are wearing 6 years ago. Timeless. Love the colors.

  37. Congratulations on SIX years!! That’s a big accomplishment!

  38. Wow six years! I remember when I went searching for a new look. More age appropriate but not frumpy, that was after a young (very young) co-worker said she liked that I dressed so young for my age. I was somewhat insulted and asked if I should be wearing elastic waist polyester pants and orthopedic shoes! Lol…looking back she was right so that’s when I found you. I’ve been following you since shortly after you started your blog and have enjoyed every single day with you!
    Happy Anniversary

  39. Ginger Hiller says:

I am so sorry about your car issues! I recently learned that there is a recall on my Ram truck, but the part is not available. So, I am supposed to receive an email when it becomes available at our dealership that is 1 hr away. Ugh! The supply chain is getting worse and worse and impacting all of us in one way or another. I’m glad our Christmas shopping is done! Now to your ON fitting room try ons. You showed us some great pieces! You look fabulous in the pretty blue sweater. I have been ordering lots of things, especially from ON, so I have to pretend that none of the items you shared will work for me, to reduce the disappointment. However, I have a closet full of items I love, so that’s that. Have a beautiful Saturday! We are driving to Americus, GA this morning to spend a couple of nights in a cool hotel and are doing a special deer hunt on a wildlife management area. I can’t wait!

  40. Vickie Carlson says:

Happy Anniversary! My very favorite site and blog! I share with my friends. But now I shop all the time. Ugg.

  41. I can completely commiserate with you in regard to car stuff. Last year there was a recall on a part for my car. I had unfortunately had to replace the part the year before already, so I asked the dealership if I could be reimbursed. They told me yes, but I would have to bring in the car for it to be repaired. I explained that they had ALREADY fixed it. Apparently that didn’t count. So I took it in to get the part fixed that had already been fixed! So silly!

  42. Happy 6 year Anniversary!! You brighten every day with your great stories, fashion, beauty and home ideas!!! Thanks for all you do!!!
