  1. Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is looking holiday festive in this blanket scarf and green cable-knit sweater.

I debated on what to title this blog post since I had two titles in mind. One title was, “husband for sale, cheap…very cheap,” and the other one was, “I hate it when he is right.” As you can see, I ended up going with the second one, but the first one is still on the table. Joe (my husband, in case you are new to my page) can drive me crazy with his bluntness and lack of filter. If it comes to his mind, then he can’t help but tell you his thought. It never occurs to him that your feelings might get trampled in the process until after the fact. Then, he is shocked that you took offense.

Yesterday I was taking some photos of upcoming outfits, and Joe was still home. I walked through to grab some shoes, and as I came back, I said, “what do you think about this outfit for a casual Christmas look?” He completely ignored my question and instead said, “Tania, you need to lose some weight.” Wow, that was out of the left field. He proceeded to tell me that he had looked at my photos from Monday’s post and noticed that I had put on some weight. When I gain weight, it always shows on my face first, so it is hard to hide any weight gain.

Here is where all of this stems from; I’ve always struggled to maintain my weight, so, years ago I made the mistake of asking him to help me keep it in control. I told him to point it out to me when he saw me putting on weight. I must admit, it was probably not the smartest thing that I’ve ever done. 🤣 Yes, I have gained weight, and YES, I do need to start exercising. And, just in case you were wondering, YES, he is still in the doghouse. Why was this the one thing that he decided to listen to me about? Lol! I am actually thankful that he loves me enough to tell me the truth even when he might only get bread and water for supper for the next week  Haha!

It was trying to spit snow as I was taking my pictures, so I ran back inside the house to grab my camel double-breasted pea coat. I love this pea coat because it is nice and toasty, and it is so easy to wear with almost anything. It looks great with jeans, but it also looks great with a skirt or dress. This is the perfect coat for dressy casual, and it is going to be my go-to coat for most of the winter months. If the weather turns colder, I will opt for a puffer coat or a heavier coat, but this coat is perfect every day. I’ve had this coat for a couple of months, so I was not shocked to see that it has already sold out. Here are some similar ones, and a few that are a longer length. These coats come in the camel color; however, I could not get one of them to show the camel version.

I am partial to a cable-knit sweater, and this one from Talbots is fantastic! I love how soft it is, and I love that it has tiny buttons on one shoulder. Sorry, I didn’t take a photo of that detail, but you can see it on their website. This sweater is fitted, but it still has a relaxed feel. I am wearing a medium, and I didn’t have to worry about my rolls (thank you, Joe) showing. If you are between sizes, then size up. I would rather have something fit me a tiny bit big and for it to fit me tight. I love this color of green, and this sweater also comes in several other colors. I also ordered a bright pink, and the red one would be great for Christmas.

These jeans!!! I have heard some of my blogger friends talk about this brand of jeans for a while, but the cost kept me from trying them. I took the plunge over Black Friday, and I almost wish I hadn’t. Lol! I love how these jeans feel and fit, and I have already caught myself reaching for them several times since I bought them. Isn’t that always the way it is… why do expensive items have to feel so good? Although, I will say that I tried on a very, very expensive pair of shoes once, thinking that they must feel amazing to wear. But, they were hard as a rock and hurt my feet to even stand up in them. Why couldn’t these jeans have fit the same way? Lol! In case you are interested, I am wearing the 10 Year Alliance color, and I did size up to a size 31, and that fit perfectly.

I can’t believe it… my booties are actually in stock!!! Scroll back up to the photo above to see the chunky block heel on these boots. I have had an old pair very similar to these that I’ve worn for years, but they were getting dingy and needed replacing. I was thrilled to find these boots, AND they are on sale for under $50.00. I love the pointy toe and the chunky heel; plus, this is my favorite neutral color when it comes to shoes. I am wearing my usual size 9, and I think they fit true to size.

And, I must be on a roll because my plaid blanket scarf is also in stock!!! I love this blanket scarf because it is not quite as big and bulky as some of the earlier versions. I can wear this scarf and not feel like it is too overwhelming. Plus, at under $20.00, it is a steal!!!

I am curious who is already done with their Christmas shopping? I am still short a few gifts, but I am fairly close. It makes giving gifts easy when your older children only want money. However, I haven’t wrapped a single present yet, and the only thing under my tree is the cat. What is it with cats and Christmas trees? Lol!

I hope that you have enjoyed today’s post and that you will tell all of your friends about my blog.

  1. Tania, YOU’RE a TOTAL Babe-A-Rama! You look like a million bucks in this outfit! 💝

    1. Annie, I think that you might need new glasses. Lol!

Reading your blog is always a bright spot in my day, Tania, and you look marvelous – don’t let Joe get you down! Luckily, we have all of our shopping done because our state just got shut down again. ☹ Since I’m not baking treats for our neighbors, I’m dropping off a bag with a candle, a funny dish towel & purchased treats on each of their front porches, so I’m glad those were already purchased, as well. We’ve also gone all out decorating this year, so if people can’t come see us, at least they can enjoy our decorations when they drive by! This Christmas, I think it just takes a little adjusting & ingenuity to enjoy this special season.

    1. Nancy, Joe doesn’t phase me after all of these years. I just get my digs back in later on. Lol!

  3. I agree with Robin, the minute I saw you in the green sweater & those AG jeans I thought, Wow! She has lost weight! Your post had me laughing 😂
I need to start wrapping gifts so I know what more I need to buy.
Love your posts & Bible verses.

    1. Thanks, Holly! I wish that I could get to a weight and just stick with it. I’ve lost 20 lbs so many times that I’ve lost count.

  4. I think it looks like you have lost weight. I like the outfit. I think I’m pretty much done with shopping. Will know more once I start wrapping!!

    1. I used to love wrapping gifts, and now I hate it. Lol!

Gurl, I totally get it! When I gain weight (and I have) it goes to my face. Once I hit 50 I’ve had to watch my weight and I just hate it. My problem is, I just don’t want to work at it right now. There, I said it…I’m lazy and hungry! I have exercise equipment to train for the Olympics, but I would truly rather exercise outdoors. It’s cold. I have too many excuses. I need to get back to fasting and lay off the sugar…grrrr!!! Ba hum bug!!!
I love this outfit. Those jeans and booties look so good together! Let me know what you are going to do to lose the weight. Tell Joe he better watch his back. LOL ;-D

    1. Melsesa, that was how he knew that I was pregnant with my son, Joseph. I had no idea, and he asked me to take a test. Lol!

  6. Christine Simpson says:

The green sweater looks fabulous on you!!
I honestly hadn’t noticed any weight change on you! You look amazing!

    1. Joe can tell if I gain a pound or lose a pound. He would have been great at that Circus job were you guessed people’s weight.

  7. Debbie Brown says:

I just recently started following your blog!
A friend told me about this and I love it and I shared as well!
I look so forward to your email everyday!

    1. Welcome, Debbie!!! I am so glad that you are enjoying the blog, and be sure to thank your friend for me.

  8. Love the outfit, you look great! It looked to me like you had lost weight! I done with Christmas shopping except for the grandkids, waiting on a list from their mom’s. Enjoy reading your blog every day! Merry Christmas!

    1. Doris, I am waiting on gift ideas for two of the grands also.

  9. Joe can go pound sand! Actually, I’ve noticed in your recent pictures that you look healthy and happy. Quite frankly, I think you look more attractive in recent photos than earlier ones. I also like how you’re wearing your hair now.

Also…I really appreciate reading a blog written by a regular woman who wears regular sizes just like me. So many fashion bloggers want to preach to me about their fitness programs and how they stay a size 4… They can pound alongside Joe!

    😜

    1. Ann, thanks for the laugh!!! I told Joe that if I gained a lot of weight that I could do a plus-size blog. Lol!

  10. Phyllis Hughes says:

Husbands and their comments! There are times I would pay someone to take mine off my hands, but most of the time I would not trade him for a million dollars. The funny thing is, before I read the title I saw your picture and thought to myself,”She has lost weight. Wonder what she is doing?” Weight has been my enemy since I was 12 years old and told by the school that I was over weight. I didn’t know it until then. At 67 I have come to terms with it. I eat what I want, but try to eat small amounts and try not to snack constantly. My doctor says I’m healthy and my weight is acceptable for my age. I would like to walk, but circumstances now are such that I can’t.
    God bless you!

    1. You took the words right out of my mouth. I love him to death, but there are days when I would like to strangle him. Lol!
