I HATE IT WHEN HE IS RIGHT
I debated on what to title this blog post since I had two titles in mind. One title was, “husband for sale, cheap…very cheap,” and the other one was, “I hate it when he is right.” As you can see, I ended up going with the second one, but the first one is still on the table. Joe (my husband, in case you are new to my page) can drive me crazy with his bluntness and lack of filter. If it comes to his mind, then he can’t help but tell you his thought. It never occurs to him that your feelings might get trampled in the process until after the fact. Then, he is shocked that you took offense.
Yesterday I was taking some photos of upcoming outfits, and Joe was still home. I walked through to grab some shoes, and as I came back, I said, “what do you think about this outfit for a casual Christmas look?” He completely ignored my question and instead said, “Tania, you need to lose some weight.” Wow, that was out of the left field. He proceeded to tell me that he had looked at my photos from Monday’s post and noticed that I had put on some weight. When I gain weight, it always shows on my face first, so it is hard to hide any weight gain.
Here is where all of this stems from; I’ve always struggled to maintain my weight, so, years ago I made the mistake of asking him to help me keep it in control. I told him to point it out to me when he saw me putting on weight. I must admit, it was probably not the smartest thing that I’ve ever done. 🤣 Yes, I have gained weight, and YES, I do need to start exercising. And, just in case you were wondering, YES, he is still in the doghouse. Why was this the one thing that he decided to listen to me about? Lol! I am actually thankful that he loves me enough to tell me the truth even when he might only get bread and water for supper for the next week Haha!
It was trying to spit snow as I was taking my pictures, so I ran back inside the house to grab my camel double-breasted pea coat. I love this pea coat because it is nice and toasty, and it is so easy to wear with almost anything. It looks great with jeans, but it also looks great with a skirt or dress. This is the perfect coat for dressy casual, and it is going to be my go-to coat for most of the winter months. If the weather turns colder, I will opt for a puffer coat or a heavier coat, but this coat is perfect every day. I’ve had this coat for a couple of months, so I was not shocked to see that it has already sold out. Here are some similar ones, and a few that are a longer length. These coats come in the camel color; however, I could not get one of them to show the camel version.
I am partial to a cable-knit sweater, and this one from Talbots is fantastic! I love how soft it is, and I love that it has tiny buttons on one shoulder. Sorry, I didn’t take a photo of that detail, but you can see it on their website. This sweater is fitted, but it still has a relaxed feel. I am wearing a medium, and I didn’t have to worry about my rolls (thank you, Joe) showing. If you are between sizes, then size up. I would rather have something fit me a tiny bit big and for it to fit me tight. I love this color of green, and this sweater also comes in several other colors. I also ordered a bright pink, and the red one would be great for Christmas.
These jeans!!! I have heard some of my blogger friends talk about this brand of jeans for a while, but the cost kept me from trying them. I took the plunge over Black Friday, and I almost wish I hadn’t. Lol! I love how these jeans feel and fit, and I have already caught myself reaching for them several times since I bought them. Isn’t that always the way it is… why do expensive items have to feel so good? Although, I will say that I tried on a very, very expensive pair of shoes once, thinking that they must feel amazing to wear. But, they were hard as a rock and hurt my feet to even stand up in them. Why couldn’t these jeans have fit the same way? Lol! In case you are interested, I am wearing the 10 Year Alliance color, and I did size up to a size 31, and that fit perfectly.

I can’t believe it… my booties are actually in stock!!! Scroll back up to the photo above to see the chunky block heel on these boots. I have had an old pair very similar to these that I’ve worn for years, but they were getting dingy and needed replacing. I was thrilled to find these boots, AND they are on sale for under $50.00. I love the pointy toe and the chunky heel; plus, this is my favorite neutral color when it comes to shoes. I am wearing my usual size 9, and I think they fit true to size.
And, I must be on a roll because my plaid blanket scarf is also in stock!!! I love this blanket scarf because it is not quite as big and bulky as some of the earlier versions. I can wear this scarf and not feel like it is too overwhelming. Plus, at under $20.00, it is a steal!!!
I am curious who is already done with their Christmas shopping? I am still short a few gifts, but I am fairly close. It makes giving gifts easy when your older children only want money. However, I haven’t wrapped a single present yet, and the only thing under my tree is the cat. What is it with cats and Christmas trees? Lol!

You look awesome. I like your hair off your face.
Thanks, I like playing with my hair and experiementing.
You look.fabulous in that color green…..
Thanks, June!
Hi Tania! I laughed out loud when I read what Joe said to you. I am almost exactly the same size as you and have struggled ALL my life with weight. My husband thinks he is being subtle but finds ways to let me know when I put on weight. For what it’s worth I think you look great!!
Janet, it is good to know that I am not the only one with these issues. My husband is not subtle though, he is pretty dang blunt.
Tania I love this outfit. You look great and I love the whole outfit. I look forward each morning to my coffee and 50 is not old! Thanks for always helping me to look my best.
I am so glad that you are enjoying the blog each morning with me.
I thought I was the only one with the “unfiltered” husband, lol! As someone who has also struggled with the weight issue my entire life I wanted to suggest trying Noom. I started it right before the pandemic hit and was able to lose 20 in 4 months! I started to blame being over 60 for not being able to lose the weight, well it worked and I didn’t really feel like I was dieting. Good luck!
My daughter is doing Noom, and asked me about joining. I might need to look into that. Thanks for letting me know.
Love this outfit and that shade of green is my favorite. I think you look great – Joe is being a naughty boy!! lol My ex husband told me, in front of about 10 family members, that I didn’t need to eat the dessert my MIL was about to serve me, because I was too fat. Mind you, I had just had my son 3 months prior and hadn’t lost all the baby fat at that point. I was mortified and extremely embarrassed.
UGH! I don’t think that men realize how sensitive us women are to our weight. They don’t care and don’t see why we should get our feeling hurt.
I love the green on you! Your Joe sounds just like my hubby. When I met him 40 years ago, the thing that attracted me to him was his candor and honesty…I still appreciate it, but boy, can it be brutal sometimes!
Exactly, Donna! So, you understand what I mean. I love that he is honest, and I can count on his opinion. BUT, dang it, I don’t always like them!
Perfect outfit! Love the scarf. ❤️🎄❤️
The scarf is a fabulous color!
Love this outfit and you look great in these colors.
Thanks, Jennifer!
Tania,
You looks awesome and beautiful in the first pic!
No weight loss needed per these pics!
The style is spot on; exactly what I like, casual but classic. You are beautiful inside and out and my favorite blogger hands down!
My sweet 13 year old fur daughter Sophie is failing, please say a prayer for her. My heart breaks over the the thought of losing her.
Stay safe & healthy!
Kim 🎄🎄🎄
Kimberly, I am so sorry to hear about your fur baby! It is so hard to lose one, and I hate seeing them ill. It broke mine and Joe’s hearts when we lost our Yorkie, Beckley.
