How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day

Here we are on day three of my Valentine’s Day looks. I think most people consider red the official color of Valentine’s Day. It is the color of hearts, and many of you might receive a vase of red roses from your sweetie. My darling husband usually buys me chocolate-covered strawberries, which are also red. Today, we will be talking about clothing and how to wear traditional red for Valentine’s Day.

- Day 2: How To Wear Hearts For Valentine’s Without Looking Childish

I wanted to show you how we can use regular clothing that we would typically wear but give it a slight Valentine’s Day vibe. None of the clothing has hearts, love, or lips on them, but they are still festive looking for Valentine’s Day.
How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day – Plaid Blazer

I LOVE the colors of this Plaid Longline Blazer!!! The blazer is perfect for Valentine’s Day but could be worn at any time of the year. I wore this blazer before but with a black turtleneck. Today, I thought I would add a pink tank under it to bring out the pink stripe. If pink and red isn’t your cup of tea, the blazer is available in several patterns and colors.

Here is a view showing the length of the blazer. I purchased a large blazer the first time, which was slightly too big. The medium fits me perfectly.

The pink sweater tank is an old one from Talbots. It is the charming shell, but this color is no longer available. The tank is in stock in a couple of other colors. The red Kyocera Opal heart earrings are a pair I’ve had for a couple of years. They are from Kendra Scott and are no longer available. I linked to this year instead.
How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day – Cashmere & Jeans

This is a classic outfit you could wear to lunch, date night, or anytime you want to look polished and put together.

As I mentioned on Monday, every woman needs a black blazer in their closet. (read this post for the other essentials you need) You can wear a black blazer with pants, dresses, shorts, skirts, and jeans. In other words, it is incredibly versatile.

Over the years, I’ve been adding cashmere to my wardrobe. I love the softness of cashmere and feel like a Queen when I wear it. No one needs to know that I usually buy it during a sale. Now is the time of year when you can find great sales on Cashmere, but this one is not on sale at the moment.

I added the Ashton Gold Pearl Heart Statement Earrings that were c/o Kendra Scott. These swoon-worthy earrings can be worn more than just for Valentine’s Day. I LOVE these earrings, but they are more expensive than the other earrings I’ll link to. There is a smaller version that is a little less expensive, and they are available in white, red, or pink.
How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day – Edgy, Faux Leather

The previous two outfits are classic looking. I like mixing things up and not styling everything the same way. So, I threw together this edgy outfit to see what you think about it.

This Pebbled Faux Leather Cropped Jacket is edgy but in a classy way. It looks chic and stylish and puts a new spin on the traditional moto jacket.

This one looks feminine and has a chain detail on the pockets. You can see the grain of the jacket in this photo. If you didn’t know better, you would swear this is genuine leather.

I paired the faux leather jacket with a traditional red turtleneck sweater. The sweater is ribbed, and I will always size up when I read that in the description. I’m wearing a large, which fits nicely without being too clingy and tight.

Talk about adorable!!! These small bow and faux pearl heart earrings are the cutest! They are lightweight, so they don’t tug on your ear. The bow is metal and will keep its shape, and the faux pearl heart dangles to create movement. The necklace is from Kendra Scott and is one I’ve had for a few years. You can see all of their heart jewelry here. I love giving heart earrings or necklaces to my granddaughters; it is a gift they can keep for years.

Anytime I’m going somewhere and need a nice-looking pair of jeans, these SPANX Flare Jeans are one of the pairs I will reach for. They are a darker wash and are dressier than light-wash jeans. They have the perfect amount of stretch to them, and the size large fits me perfectly.
How To Wear Traditional Red For Valentine’s Day – Fun & Casual

This is more casual looking than the other three outfits. It is also fun-loving and different. I don’t like looking like everyone else as I walk down the street. I like adding some personality to my outfits, even if it is through accessories.

I would be shocked if you ran into someone wearing this same Colorblock Button Up Shirt. If you do, be sure to ask them if they also follow me. 😉 The back of this shirt is solid red, so it is only the front that is color-blocked. If you can’t decide if you want to wear pink or red, this shirt will make the decision easy.

I think this handbag is too adorable. This saying is perfect for me since the first thing I ask when we are going on vacation is, “Do they have wifi?” Lol!

When I saw the back of the handbag, I knew it was meant for me. Joe has been calling me “queen” ever since we watched The Crown. Lol!

I am NOT wearing my husband’s jeans, but these are a pair of Joe’s Jeans. Lol! I love the way these jeans fit, and my photographer mentioned that they made my booty look good. Don’t worry, my photographer isn’t male. I read that these jeans ran small, so I ordered two sizes to be sure I got the right size. The size 30 fit better than my usual 29, so I suggest sizing up one size.

So…what did you think about my how to wear traditional red for Valentine’s Day outfits? Which was your favorite?

I love the faux leather cropped jacket. It looks great on you!
Love that plaid blazer!
The first red sweater, then the color block sweater looks great!
chocolate covered strawberries! What a sweet husband you have.
Beautiful reds and pinks today – love it!
I don’t wear a lot of red but I think it’s time to change that! Cute outfits!
I like the solid red the best. Red is a good color pick because I can wear red at Christmas and again for Valentine’s. I’m always on the lookout for a stylish red sweater. And cashmere is always nice.
I like these red outfits! Working in a school district that doesn’t celebrate valentine’s day, these options let me dress for the day without being obvious. I love dressing for holidays!
I love your sophisticated yet casual take on looks for February and Valentines Day! One of my favorite pieces to wear this time of year is the pink plaid quilted winter vest that you shared a year or two ago! It was from Belk. I am a sucker for plaid vs hearts!
Tania,
I just found your site a little over two weeks ago, I was scrolling for “outfits” to buy. I am so excited that I found you! I love that you list the site for the clothes so I can go directly there, also the “expensive” look vs. the “not so expensive” look just thrills me. And, your true reaction to the outfit and accessories. I love to see the cost and a quick review of the product. As a woman over 50, I find it so hard to look for cute, put together outfits that can go from work (I am a teacher) to later in the evening, along with being functional and comfortable. I appreciate your work sorting through all the styles and getting this out to us over 50 gals, so we don’t have to waste our time scrolling for hours. By the way, you look adorable and super put together! I haven’t seen one outfit that doesn’t look good on you. Keep up the good work!
Wow! Thanks, Laurie! You sure know how to make a GURLS day!
Great scripture verse! The blazer is so pretty for those that enjoy wearing them. Sine I’m not one of them, I really like the edgy look. That handbag is calling my name, but I have a feeling it’s pretty small, which wouldn’t work for me too often. Way to go Joe!
