How To Wear Shirts To Transition From Summer To Fall
Gurls, it’s not easy coming up with titles for these posts, Lol. I know what I mean to say, but I’m not sure I always make it clear. Do you know how long it took for me to come up with “How To Wear Shirts To Transition From Summer To Fall”? It was that or “Short Sleeve Shirts and Long Sleeve Shirts and Other Things to Consider for Fall.” Oh, the life of a fashion blogger. 🙂
Anyway! When you’re thinking about shirts to buy as the weather gets cooler, you might find yourself in a dilemma. It’s that crazy time of year when it can be 95 degrees at midday and 55 in the evening. The answer is layering!
How To Wear Shirts To Transition From Summer To Fall: Short Sleeves
V-Neck Knitted Lightweight Sweater
When I’m starting to transition from summer to fall, I pick lightweight tops that I can wear alone or under another layer. This stretchy knit sweater is long-sleeved, but in late summer, I can push them up and still be comfortable. I love the way the sweater hugs to your curves without being too tight. I’m wearing a large, and that size is fine, and just a smidge on the loose side.
Short Sleeve Top in Multi-Color Print
The key to wearing shirts as you transition to fall is to wear sleeveless or short-sleeved tops with layers! I chose this top because it has so many interesting colors in the print. It would look great under a sweater in green, gold, or blue!
Pleated Top Chiffon WithCap Sleeve
This shirt is in a beautiful cobalt blue, one of the trending colors for fall 2023. This would look great underneath a blazer for a more formal look or under a sweater to dress it down a bit. The cap sleeves should lay down flat nicely under a cardigan. The shirt comes in many colors, and it’s only $25 dollars!
Casual T Shirt With Ruffle Sleeves
I love this top for a great pop of color! Throw a cute denim jacket over this, and you’ll be set. If it gets warm and you want to lose the jacket, you’ll still look great because this top looks like the star of the show, not an afterthought. I love the ruffle sleeve detail, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s also just $25 dollars!
Puff Sleeve Tee With Round Neck
This puff sleeve top is one of the least expensive shirts on today’s blog, but I think it looks so much more expensive than it is. Maybe it’s the color or the knotted puff sleeve, but I love its simplicity. It looks terrific paired with this darker skirt, but I think it would look great with jeans or even a fall plaid!
Tank Top With Keyhole
This is another pretty top that I included because of its color. Red Dahlia is officially the name of the trending fall color, but I think of it as deep red. I know that you probably don’t think of sleeveless shirts as you think of fall, but this is great to wear underneath jackets, blazers, or cardigans.
How To Wear Shirts To Transition From Summer To Fall: Long Sleeves
Smocked Floral Top
To be accurate, this is actually a 3/4-sleeved shirt. If you want to wear shirts with longer sleeves, you’ll want to stick with thinner materials. This shirt could be worn as is, or with a denim jacket or even a cute navy scarf!
Casual Oversized Button Down Shirt
When choosing a long sleeve shirt for fall, I always want to go with A) Thin and B) A great fall color. This oversized button-down is perfect! It would look great with a pair of light wash jeans, either ankle length or cuffed, and a pair of fall boots. I’m loving this orange color for fall. Maybe it’s because I’m a Tennessee girl at heart, but whatever the reason, it’s going into my cart!
Long Sleeve Square Neck Tunic Top
I think square-necked shirts are so elegant. I know this is a simple shirt, but the neckline elevates it beyond what a crew neck or v-neck shirt would. This color should be in the dictionary next to the word “fall.” Not only would it look good with jeans, but I think it would be great as a tunic with leggings. The reviews say to size down as it runs a little large.
Long Sleeve T Shirt Crewneck with Side Split
And finally, a very casual, long sleeve t that you can wear as a tunic, or underneath a jacket or vest for the perfect layered look. Over 2,000 people have purchased this shirt and it has a rating of 4.4 stars. Pretty good for a shirt that costs $18 dollars!

I always love a short sleeve or sleeveless under sweaters and jackets, Tania-it helps with the hot flashes!
I like the orange shirt too, Tania. Since moving to Knoxville last October, I’ve acquired quite a lot of orange shirts – GO VOLS!
Woohoo!!! Go Big orange!
I like the Cobalt blue and the multi color “window pane” tops.
We use those white Mr. Clean sponges on windows. They really clean that foggy haze that gets on inside car windows, too. Wipe the window with the wet sponge, then follow with regular window cleaner and paper towel or whatever you usually use.
Autumn will be here before you know it!

Beautiful fall colors! Love fall❤️
I didn’t know I needed those orange shirts, but they’re in my cart! 😊
I swear by e-cloths for washing windows. They are available from Amazon.
One cloth for washing, a separate one for drying. You don’t need any cleaners or soap. You might have to do them a few times to get all the built up cleaners off your windows but after that they are a true gem for streak free windows!
Love light weight sweaters in the early fall. That blue shade is so pretty!
All cute tops! By the way my City body balm came in yesterday and I already love it!
Thank you Melanie, for commenting! I am so glad that you love your City body balm. ❤️
Really had to chuckle about the windows! My hubby has been out three evenings working on them, and every morning he sees streaks! He is so frustrated.
The fall colors are beautiful!
Some great, inexpensive handbag choices, but i hate black linings.
Hi Tania, first up, I’ve always gotten a streak free shine on windows using a Widex with vinegar mix as cleaner and wiping with newspaper! Pass along to Joe! Secondly, love the shirts for transitioning to Fall. Many great options!
Funny when my husband washes outside windows they are streaked. I don’t say anything. I am just grateful he helps out.
Some CUTE basics!
Beautiful choices as always.
I use a purple window cloth from Norwex for streak free windows.
What size did you get in the oversized orange shirt! I love orange!
Looking for tops that go with my new beige blazer for fall!
Beautiful tops! I’m loving the red and cobalt blue!
Your email about the window streaks was my first laugh today. I thought that would be me. I didn’t have any tips. I’m reading the comments for any ideas.
I am so ready for long-sleeve weather. Love the deep orange shirt that buttons up. Bring on pumpkin-spice lattes and donuts!
I am loving the fall colors I am seeing so far. Great tops!
Summer to Fall – you’ll want them all!!
At least I did!!
Love the fall orange color and deep red.
Hi Tania, for your window cleaning just hot water, vinegar and a touch of dawn dish soap. Wash them with this mixture and then just wipe them down with a microfiber cloth. Your windows should shine. Hope you try this and let me know how clean they are.

More colbalt blue color is great!
planning some fall trips-this is helpful!!!
My favorite it a 3/4 sleeve, gives coverage and can keep you warmer as you transition from cool mornings to warm days. But you can always add a sweater, blazer or jacket for those colder mornings or evenings.
I am glad that you enjoyed this post! Thanks for commenting. ☺️
How about “Cute tops for late summer and early fall”? Lol
My favorites are the multiprint, the blue chiffon, and the square new tunic.
I feel your pain with streaky windows. I don’t use cleaning products anymore. Just Norwex Basic Package – Window & Enviro Cloth and water. I’ve had more luck with these cloths. Good luck.
Thanks for being spot on with summer to fall transitions! Most of my S2F pieces are solid colors as well – its so hard to find patterns that aren’t “locked” into a season – solids can be accessorized towards either season, and layered! Thanks!
