HOW TO WEAR OVERSIZED SWEATERS WITH LEGGINGS

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR OVERSIZED SWEATERS WITH LEGGINGS | FASHION OVER 40This week I will once again be traveling to Nashville. I am going to a blogging conference (my first), and I hope to learn lots of useful tips and tricks for social media. If any of you are on FaceBook or Instagram, then you probably know a little bit about what I am talking about. They are continually changing the rules of engagement, and what you are doing one day doesn’t work the next day. It is a total pain in the rump for those of us who are dependant on getting our content out for people to see.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR OVERSIZED SWEATERS WITH LEGGINGS | FASHION OVER 40I know a few other bloggers who are going to be attending the conference also, and I can’t wait to meet them in person. I am going to be rooming with Jennifer Connolly from A Well Styled Life, and having dinner with Deborah Boland from Fabulous After 40, Cyndi Spivey, and Jo-Lynne Shane. I can’t wait to meet these wonderful ladies face to face, even if it is a little intimidating. These ladies have been blogging for a lot longer than me, and they know what they are doing. Lol! That part where I just linked to all of there websites is not something that I should do according to what I have been told. I am sending people “away” from my blog, instead of having people come “to” my blog. Oh well, I don’t care, these ladies are the best, and I hope to learn a lot from them while I am in Nashville.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR OVERSIZED SWEATERS WITH LEGGINGS | FASHION OVER 40Y’all, don’t get your hopes up that you can purchase this sweater. This sweater is over 33 years old!!! I purchased this sweater to go out on a date with Joe, and we will be celebrating our 33rd anniversary on Thursday. Sssh, don’t tell Joe that our anniversary is on Thursday because I will be in Nashville. We will have to celebrate when I get back in town. Lol! The crazy thing about fashion is that it keeps recycling itself. The huge oversized sweater is a HUGE trend right now. It is hard to wear oversized sweaters at first because you feel slouchy and, well, HUGE. I styled a sweater that you will see later this week, and I wasn’t sure how I felt about the style on me. My daughter-in-law loved the look, but she is a size 2, and that might make a difference. Lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR OVERSIZED SWEATERS WITH LEGGINGS | FASHION OVER 40Another HUGE trend is faux leather leggings. I wasn’t sure how I felt about this trend, but I decided to try the look for myself. In fact, I am going to be styling these Spanx faux leather leggings this entire week. I decided to go with the Spanx brand, even though I have found some cheaper options. The reason that I went with the Spanx brand is that I thought they would do a better job controlling any dimples that I might have on my legs. They do great!!! You will see what I am talking about later this week when you get a better look at the leggings. Spanx also has a moto version of these leggings if you want to go for the edgy look. You can channel your inner “Sandy” from Grease when you wear these. Lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR OVERSIZED SWEATERS WITH LEGGINGS | FASHION OVER 40I am still loving my over the knee boots that I purchased earlier this year. I love, love, love this color, and I like that they barely hit above my knee. These boots are part of the big Fall Sale going on right now from Nordstrom, but the sizes are already limited in this color. Here is the link so that you can check and see if you are one of the lucky ones who can buy these at 40% off. For those whose size is already sold out, I’ll link to a few different pairs. The Tory Burch handbag that I am carrying is gorgeous, and I feel like it can be worn with casual as well as dressy styles. This is one of the nicest handbags that I own, and it is super soft since it is made from lambskin. I like how you can carry is either long or short and that it looks great both ways. Here is the link to the bag, be sure to tell your hubby that this would make a great Christmas present. Haha!

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR OVERSIZED SWEATERS WITH LEGGINGS | FASHION OVER 40I have shared this story before, but I have a good reason for sharing it again. When I went to an event in Nashville over a year ago, I went out to dinner with a couple of my R+F friends. While we were eating, one of the ladies wanted to know if I had ever used Botox. I told her no that I hadn’t. She said the reason that she asked was that I didn’t show my age anywhere, EXCEPT on my chest. That was an eye-opener for me, and a perfect call to action. I started using my Active Hydration Serum, just a drop, on my chest. And, when I can remember, I use the Redefine mask down on my chest, and I also use the AMP roller. I hadn’t thought about it in a long, but when I was taking photos on Saturday I noticed that my chest didn’t have any lines. Woohoo, no more cougar chest!!! If your chest is looking a little wrinkled, I can help! Email me at taniastephens12@gmail.com if you want to hear more.

I had commented on your instragram that the sweater you are wearing wasn’t linked. Ha! Now I know why. I couldn’t begin to wear something I had 33 years ago, unfortunately. I love the sweater and I’m sure you are glad you kept it.

  2. You look gorgeous. Confidence and lots of talent..t his outfit is divine

  3. I’ve had my Spanx faux leather leggings for about a year and they are my favorite. I’m going to order the moto ones also. Not sure how I like the black with the tones in the sweater though. But all in all a great outfit!

  4. Most of us already follow these blogs. I love making a cup of tea or coffee and browsing through all of them in the morning. Gets my day started with inspiration and you my dear always inspire. You all have something different to offer. Variety is the spice of life.
I love getting my comfort on with slouchy or oversized sweaters. This is a great look for you. You rock boots!

  5. Hi, have a good time at the conference. One thing I wish you would bring up is how all of these instagramers are using the phrase, “Y’all”. Because everyone is using that phrase it is starting to sound disingenuous. One day I was listening to a story on Instagram and my husband said, she sounds fake – it wasn’t you. I actually love it that you are not recording your thoughts all day long. It can be annoying.
I love that you styled that sweater!

  6. I follow Jennifer’s blog & I really like her! I recently lost almost 20 lbs. & am working on 10 more. That means I have a few more oversized pieces in my closet than before ? I also follow a few home decor bloggers & they’re always doing home tours & linking to other blogs. I guess Goggle is misinformed ? I love the style of your blog, so go learn technical stuff but continue being you!

    1. Sherrye, I really like her also. I can’t wait to meet her in person.

Be sure to bring warm clothes. Nashville temps are going to be in in the 40’s and 30’s midweek. Lows in the teens. Coldest weather we’ve had yet. Love your blog, first thing I read every morning. Have fun

    1. Marilyn, I have already been thinking about bringing a coat.

  8. have a great time, love those boots!

  9. Aren’t you rocking those leggings!!?? I love this look and I hope you have a good time in Nashville. I am there in spirit lol.

    1. I wish you were there in person, not just spirit.

      1. Me too!! I think I need to take a “me” vacay to VA!!! I need girl time.

    2. Great sweater, I had one similar back in the day! You look great in this outfit the colors are good on you!

  10. Yay for faux leather leggings! You look great in them! I would choose black boots though! Great fern!

    1. Black boots are coming up next.

  11. Have the best time. I know you are excited to learn and hang with your people! I think you do a great job on your blog but can’t wait to see what changes you make.

    1. I am excited and nervous. Lol!

  12. Kathy Lee says:

Tania I’m so glad to see you in the faux leather leggings. I’ve been afraid to try them myself. They look great on you. How is the sizing? I’m not sure what size to order.

    1. I would size up. I went by their sizing guide when I ordered mine a year ago and ordered a small. They ended up being too small so I returned them for a medium and they fit great.

    2. I ordered the large and XL, but the large fits fine, so I sent the other pair back.

  13. Looking forward to your looks all week with the spanx leggings. I have been thinking about them, but have concerns as I am a little thick in the thighs and 57 years old. Is it a look that I should just pass on? Thinking, thinking.. 🙂

    1. Cheryl, I would give them a try! I passed on skinny jeans for the longest time because I thought my legs were too big. Now, skinny jeans are my favorite!

  14. Hope you enjoy the conference. Glad you are generous enough to link with other bloggers. That makes me respect you all the more. I get turned off by an overly self focus in anything, including business. There’s plenty for everyone!

    1. Mary, there are a lot of bloggers who will not help you when you first get started. I guess they are super busy and don’t have the time.

  15. I llove that you styled an older sweater and it still works today!
I follow all of the ladies you will be meeting up with at the conference and I’m sure you will have a fabulous time! As a follower, I don’t think linking up with another blogger detracts me from a site. I find it helps me to follow all of you and saved me time.

    1. I love all of those ladies, Janet. I like it when a blogger recommends another blogger to me, but it is Google who doesn’t.

      1. Cheryl Peffer says:

I enjoy going to the different bloggers. Btw I love the shade of lipstick your wearing in the picture you’re showing the R+F results.

        1. I know I will have a great time, but it is really out of my comfort zone. Especially since I respect these ladies so much. I have no idea what shade of lipstick I had on in that photo. Lol!
