I hope your weekend was more exciting than mine. I didn’t leave the house, although that is not unusual. My little seven-year-old houseguest did come to visit, and that is always a blast. She and I learned how to play a new online game, which kept both of us entertained. It is funny how quickly a seven-year-old can pick up on technology, and she figured out the game quickly.
In this game, you can host a private game that is only available for people who have the code. So, we played the game with my brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, and a friend. I was also trying to cook supper, so for the most part, Emersyn was the person playing the game. But, when I would come over to try and help her figure out something on the game, she would take her elbow and nudge me out of the way. Lol!
She didn’t think that she needed any help, and she was probably correct. Maybe this is why children who are so young can work electronic devices so well. They hop in and try, and aren’t worried about not knowing all of the answers. I remember the first computer that Joe and I got, and how I was so afraid that I would mess things up. Joe told me once, “just play on it; you can’t mess it up so bad that we can’t fix it later.” That was all the encouragement that I needed, and I quickly figured out how to explore and have fun on the computer. So, I encourage you to try something new. You don’t have to know all of the answers, and you probably can’t mess it up so badly that it can’t be fixed later! Joe is a wise man, but don’t tell him that I said so.
I received this sweater and skirt earlier last week, and I thought they would look great together. Then, I looked at the sweater and decided that it would look great with jeans also. That inspired today’s post that shows you how to wear a particular item dressy and casually both. I also wanted to show that you should experiment with the length of the sweater. I tucked it in to see how I liked the look, and then I also wore it untucked. The untucked version was probably my favorite, but it is up to you to decide which look is best for you.
Changing out your accessories is an easy way to take a look from dressy to casual. Pay attention to your jewelry, shoes, handbag, etc., and pick items that match your intended look.
Dressing casually doesn’t mean that you have to dress sloppy. Every day when you get dressed, you pick out a top, a bottom, and shoes. When you go shopping, this is your opportunity to pick comfortable items and look fashionable and stylish. That way, when you go to your closet to pick out something to wear for the day, you have a lot of different choices to choose from, and they are all cute and fashionable.
This look started with the “top” choice, and I choose this leopard print cowl-neck sweater. I love the chunky knit and the oversized style of this sweater. The cowl neck is something that I am on the fence about, and I have a love-hate relationship with this type of neck. I love the fact that the cowl neck is different and unique, but I have an issue with anything that shows my extra chins. The longer and bigger cowl necks are, the easier it is for me to wear it without feeling self-conscious.
Sometimes handbags are either considered dressy or casual, and they aren’t interchangeable. However, this goldtone metallic crossbody bag can be worn either way. The braiding or stitched trim looks casual, but the gorgeous chain looks dressy.
This midi-length black sweater skirt is flattering since it hugs to your body. I love the length of the skirt, and it hits me below my knees. The skirt is nice and soft, and it is a good thickness. I was undecided on the size, but I ended up ordering a large, and it fits me perfectly. I see that the skirt has sold out of black, but it is still available in burgundy and olive. I’ll also link to similar skirts for you.
These metallic leopard print pumps are a pair that I bought last year. I love these shoes, but I don’t wear them often because they are soooo dressy. I think that it is the silver metallic thread that makes these heels to dressy for me regularly. Therefore I am on the lookout for a pair of leopard print heels that I can wear with jeans. I’ll show you the three that I have on my radar, and I am thinking about ordering one of them.
Accessories make a difference. For my dressier look, I wore a pair of large topaz crystal stud earrings that I bought to wear to my youngest son’s wedding years ago. I am not sure where I bought the earrings, or what the name of the stone was; I was trying to match them to my dark champagne-colored dress. I added the statement Ryder Necklace and matching Bracelet to my dressier look along with the Maggie Bangle bracelet. For my casual look, I wore the KAIA hoop earrings and a statement necklace with a leather cord, along with the same bracelets as before.
I also switched my handbag out and went with a leopard-print crossbody. This bag is big enough to make a statement and hold all of your essentials like a wallet and phone. The leather strap is adjustable and can also be removed if you want to carry it as a wristlet.
These jeans are a tried-and-true pair that I’ve worn a lot. These are the Diana from Kut From The Kloth, and I’ve had these for over a year or more. These jeans are like butter; they are so comfortable and soft. They have lots of stretch and flexibility, and I love the way that they fit. That is why these jeans are still in my line-up of jeans. I am wearing a size 10, and they fit me perfectly!
These UGG sneakers are perfect for fall. This chestnut color is gorgeous, and what I like about these sneakers is the fact that they are also stylish. I love the look, and since they are UGG, they are, of course, comfortable. These sneakers seem to be a tiny bit big, so I would suggest sizing down a 1/2 size.
