50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR FALL COLORS IN THE SUMMER | FASHION OVER 40Ladies, today, I decided to write the blog while I was sitting out on my patio. Now that it has a few flowers, it looks so much more inviting. And, since the rain has stopped for two whole days, I can enjoy the sunshine and work at the same time. I love being able to work from my computer; it is one of the things that drew me to blogging in the first place.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR FALL COLORS IN THE SUMMER | FASHION OVER 40I used to watch a TV show called House Hunters, and when they would ask the people looking for the house what they did for a living, a lot of them would say, “I work from my computer. So, as long as I have internet or wifi, I can work from anywhere.” That intrigued me, even though I didn’t understand “how” they worked from the computer, I just knew that it was possible. When my sister encouraged me to start blogging, she mentioned the fact that you could work from your computer. Ding, ding, ding! The fact that I didn’t know how to blog, or even what a blogger was, didn’t phase me. I was only looking at the result, which was going to be…working from anywhere. I think a lot of people overthink things. I believe that they want to know all the details of how, or why, that something will work for them. In other words, they are looking for a guarantee, instead of a leap of faith. I think that I didn’t know that I couldn’t, so I did. If you have been thinking of doing something new, why not take the leap and go for it? Don’t find yourself wondering, “what if I had tried.” If you don’t succeed, at least you know the answer instead of always wondering. For those of you who read yesterday’s post, here is the planter that I was talking about. I loved the turquoise color, and that is why I was wanting to transform it from the candle container into a planter. I added the succulents to keep it short so that people can see over it when they are sitting at the table.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR FALL COLORS IN THE SUMMER | FASHION OVER 40When I ordered this beautiful rustic gold sweater, I was thinking about wearing it in the fall of the year. In my mind, I couldn’t think of this as a summer top, but I thought I would order it and have it ready for fall. But, when it arrived, I couldn’t wait to find something to wear with it. I love the loosely woven material, and the crossover style of the top. I like how it is longer of the sides, so it appears to be hugging your hips. I like my hips to be hugged. Lol! The top is machine washable, and I am wearing a medium. I ordered this from the Loft Outlet, and here is the link to the top, and it is 50% off at checkout.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR FALL COLORS IN THE SUMMER | FASHION OVER 40The Bennett earrings with the mustard twine ball match my sweater. I like the boho, easy-going style of these earrings, and I especially like the dangling feather. The feather kept sticking out at a 45-degree angle while we were taking my pictures, so I have it tucked in place to keep it from stick out. Lol!
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR FALL COLORS IN THE SUMMER | FASHION OVER 40I continued with the boho theme with the Coralee necklace. The necklace has several different colored beads on a tan, adjustable cord, and features a plaque pendant that says, “Girl Boss.” I wonder why people feel the need to say “girl” boss, but never feel the need to say “man” boss? Oh well, as long as we are the boss, who cares? Lol1
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR FALL COLORS IN THE SUMMER | FASHION OVER 40\The Kellyjean bracelet is the leather one with the Love plaque. It has a magnetic closure, so it is easy to put on and take off. The other two colorful bracelets are from the Randee set. That set comes with four bracelets, and I am wearing two of them for this look. They are on an elastic cord and are also easy on and off. Why do I mention when a bracelet in easy to put on and take off? Because, if you have arthritis in your hands, then the act of putting on a bracelet can be difficult. Plus, if you live along, you don’t have someone who can help with the latches that some bracelets have, it can be challenging to do the latch with just one hand.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR FALL COLORS IN THE SUMMER | FASHION OVER 40The dark teal shorts are also a pair that I bought at the Loft Outlet. These shorts have a 6-inch inseam, and I usually look for that length of the 5-inch length. These are 100% cotton, machine washable, and they come in several different colors. They are also on sale for 50% off at checkout, so you can stock up on several different colors. I am wearing my usual size, which is 10.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR FALL COLORS IN THE SUMMER | FASHION OVER 40When I saw this photo, it immediately reminded me of the Proverbs 31:25 verse. “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and laughs without fear of the future.” I may not always laugh when I think of the future, but I know that I am never going to stop trying to grow or quit dreaming for bigger and better things to come. I am here to help any of you who would like to take a leap into unknown territory. I might not know the answer, but I don’t mind holding your hand. Dean, so you are looking in the mirror at YOURSELF! That is wonderful. Lol!

  2. I would have thought fall too but you have paired it well for summer. I see why you liked that pot. It’s very pretty!

Janet, I am glad that you agree with me that the pot was worth converting.

You both are inspiring to me as Christians, entrepreneurs, and inspiring women to be who they are meant to be. Hope you can connect with her. • hi Tanya.
I’m so glad I was introduced to your blog. I love your posts; your paisley tunic and white pants is my absolute favourite, dream to wear outfit.
What you said here about taking a leap of faith is so true, and applies to the ladies in my Facebook group in a unique way. I would love to quote an extract from this blog post in my group tomorrow (Friday), and put this link in the comments so that all my members can enjoy your blog, too.
      Are you okay with that?

I am so glad that you have found my blog, Clair. I would be honored for you to use a quote from my blog post. I love encouraging and helping women to strive for more and not to settle.

Isn’t it beautiful? So far it seems to be draining well.

  3. have you read Girl stop apologizing by rachel hollis? also like lysaTerkurst

    • Tania Reply

Yes, I read Girl Stop Apologizing. Rachel Hollis is great and I love how she writes in a way that is relatable. I also like Lysa Terkurst. The way she uses life’s moments to weave in a lesson is great.

  4. Love the planter. I managed to kill my succulents. Really enjoy your blog!

  5. My youngest son started high school last year and as part of being involved I decided to go out to the school council meetings. The principal had us all read “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek to ask ourselves why we wanted to be part of the student council. He also had all the teachers at the school read the book so they would know their “why I want to be here teaching”. I would highly recommend it – it’s a great read. Love the colors in your outfit today! 🙂

    • Tania Reply

Yes, it is a great book! I have read the book and watched a Ted talk about finding your why.

  6. Love this outfit! Loft is one of my favorite stores. What brand are the shoes? I am on the lookout for some casual (but nicer than flip flops) brown sandals. The earrings are also perfect with this outfit!

  7. That Loft link has a VERY frustrating size chart! It won’t show the sizes past XS. Come on!!!!! I’d have ordered it is I could see it?

I love this pot and succulents!! I tried to plant succulents in a pretty lot but they died. So I went to Hobby Lobby and bought artificial succulents. They look nice and won’t die.

    • Tania Reply

I have a few fake ones in the house, but the outdoor ones do better for me.

  9. I started with a beautiful succulent planter on my coffee table and one by one they died on me so every time one would die I would replace it with a faux one. I’m down to one now but it’s still going strong. It’s actually hard to tell which is the real one! Lol

    • Tania Reply

Lol, that is a great idea, Ruth. Mine are outside and the sun tends to fade out the fake versions.

  10. I loved this outfit so much that I ordered it. Have not worn it yet, but I will soon!
The outfit I am talking about is tje “How to Wear Fall Colors in the Summer”.

I would love to hear from YOU!
