Just because we’re cutting costs, it doesn’t mean we’re cutting corners! A primer is a MUST-Have. This Elf primer is very affordable at $8, and it will help make your foundation look fabulous. That’s essential since we’re using less expensive products. One of the nice things about inexpensive makeup is that if you don’t like it, you’re not out a ton of money.

Next up is concealer. I don’t skip this step because many of us have under-eye issues, and a light-colored concealer can also be used to highlight the cheekbones and tip of the nose. Maybelline is a great brand for affordable makeup. It is often on sale for just $ dollars. There are lots of shades to choose from, so you should have no problem finding a good match.

Back to the old standby – elf – for an inexpensive foundation. This brand has made a fortune by looking at other pricier products and making them cheaper. Hey, I’m all for it! This foundation is only 6 dollars and is available in a zillion shades. Even though it’s cheap, it still does the job. It has a 4.2-star rating after over 20,000 reviews!

wet n wild Color Icon Blush

Every makeup bag has to include blush! This powder from Wet and Wild is just $3 – a steal. Of course, it comes in several shades, including some darker shades that would work for a bronzing effect. It’s also cruelty-free, which I appreciate! Don’t skip blush, even when you’re just hanging out at home. Wearing blush can make you feel more put-together and confident. It’s a small step that can have a big impact on how you feel throughout the day.

Does it get any more name-brand than Cover Girl? Every bag should include eyeshadow, so grab your favorite color pallet and throw it in for just $7 dollars. It even comes with an applicator brush, which is a plus. I love the neutral version, but there are several to choose from. Get your go-to colors! Eyeshadow allows you to express your creativity and personality. You can play with colors, textures, and finishes to create endless looks, from subtle and natural to bold and dramatic. That’s easier when your products are inexpensive.

Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara

You’ve heard me mention this mascara many times. Even though it’s just 5 dollars, I love it more than some of my much pricier options. I decided to try it because of the massive number of good reviews, and I’ve never looked back. It’s the perfect inexpensive mascara option. It’s also available in waterproof!

REVLON Super Lustrous Lipstick

Of course, no makeup bag (or makeup look) is complete without lipstick. This Revlon version is a great option. There are a zillion colors to choose from, and it has over 45,000 positive reviews. Not bad for a $5 product! Lipstick can tie your entire makeup look together, adding that finishing touch that makes you feel polished and put-together, so don’t skip this step.

Last but not least, you need a makeup bag to put all of your goodies in. I love that this one opens wide so you can reach all of the products and has some smaller pockets to hold items like lipsticks and creams. It’s slightly padded as well so that your makeup won’t get crunched. It’s just $9 bucks.

Looking good doesn’t have to cost a fortune! Grab these items, and you and your wallet will be looking beautiful.

  6. I tried the Elf foundation and loved the color but found it did settle into fine lines and then I had to sponge it till it was almost gone from my skin. Maybe I need the primer (?) and that would help. Love Cover girl eye shadows too. Thanks!

Tania, I’ve had Lash Princess mascara on auto delivery from Amazon (every 6 weeks) forever. It’s like $4.00 and totally fabulous. It goes on easy and builds the lashes quickly and evenly. I totally love it and highly recommend it. 👍🏼👍🏼

I was hoping for a suggestion on eye brow pencil. I have a high end one and a loreal one and both break alot. Maybe its me!

    1. I use one from Maybelline that I like a lot.

  12. This was really helpful. I like what you said about if you don’t like the product then you can throw it out or just not use it. If I spend a lot on a cosmetic product I might try to use it even though I don’t really like it. Also I can experiment with new colors.
Good to hear positive reviews on lower priced items.

  13. Louise Logan says:
