HOW TO ONE BOTTOM WITH TWO TOPS FOR A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LOOK
Guess what??? I actually took a few hours off from work on Thursday and went to a pool! That might not sound like a big deal to you, but it was a HUGE deal for me. I hardly ever take time off; I sit at my desk, take photos, or go shopping all day long.
My daughter went to the Chiropractor and, on her way back, called and asked me if I wanted to go to the pool. It took me about 3 seconds to decide that I needed a break. So, off we went and ended up staying there for about 3 hours. I didn’t take any photos, no posts on IG stories; I simply relaxed. I had forgotten how good that is for your soul, so I am now scheduling a break each week. I’m calling it my “sanity” break cause I need some sanity. Lol!!!
Today, for my Saturday Casual Style post, I’m going to style one pair of shorts with two different tops. The result is amazing, especially since I didn’t change up my shoes or jewelry. This post shows you how small changes can make a big difference.
Let’s start with this Bright Rose Red V-Neck Short Sleeve Tee. I wear a lot of tees all year round since you can layer them under cardigans and blazers in fall and winter. This one is really nice, and I love the material since it seems like it will hold up nicely. I usually order a large in a tee, and that is what I’m wearing. It fits well, but I’m going to order the purple tee in medium to see the difference in the size. I want it to be relaxed, but I don’t want it to look sloppy.
Here is the view from the back so you can see the length. I have it half-tucked in front, but I believe this tee is long enough to wear with leggings if it wasn’t tucked in the front.
Chico’s has knocked it out of the ballpark this year with their new arrivals. I love their handbags, shoes, jewelry, and clothing. Honestly, like all retailers, there are times when I’m not a fan of the new arrivals, but this year everything has been a hit. This Jute Flower Tote blows it out of the water!!! It is practical and it is also stylish. This tote is too cute to relegate only to the pool, lake, or beach; it would look great at brunch or on a date night. I carried it when I went to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, and it looked fabulous.
Now, let’s switch it up just a little. The previous outfit looks bright, fun, and energized. I think this outfit looks calm, serene, and dressier. The only things I am changing are the top and the handbag, but the overall look is different.
I added a Navy Twist Sleeve Classic Fit T-Shirt to the shorts, and I love the outcome. This tee has the unique detail of the twist sleeve (you can see it better in the photo below), making it stand out from ordinary shirts. It is of great quality, and I couldn’t see through it at all. This is the kind of tee I like when I want to dress up but still be comfortable. I’m wearing a large, and it fits great. I noticed that the size choice is limited in the navy, but there are a lot of colors to choose from, and I especially like the medium blue one.
Here is a look at the sleeve detail. It reminds me of a butterfly. Can you see what I mean?
The Colorblock Kasey Satchel is a neutral-colored bag that will go with almost anything. I like the medium size since it is big enough to carry everything you need, but you can still carry it as a crossbody and be hands-free. The Kasey Satchel is dressier than the Jute Tote, but both bags are gorgeous and could be dressed up or down.
My jewelry was the same for both looks. I’m wearing my Large Statement Earrings (don’t worry, they are lightweight), the Adeline Link Chain Necklace, an 18kt Gold Vermeil Cross Necklace, and three of the Riveria Stretch Bracelets in Natural.
Finally, let’s talk about the cute Paperbag Striped Shorts. I usually steer clear of shorts like these since I don’t like to draw attention to my waist. I will wear these with a half-tuck or an un-tucked top, but I wanted to show you how the shorts looked at the waistline. These have slight pleating in the front, slant pockets in the front, and pockets in the back. They have a 4″ inseam, and I love how they fit. I’m wearing a medium, and they fit me well with no pulling or tugging.
The sandals are an older pair I bought from Talbots, and they are no longer on the website. Here are a few similar sandals that you might like instead.

I am going on a cruise next week and have “pre-packed” with two tops for each bottom (2 shorts, and a skort). Only I will know I am repeating the bottoms. I also love Chico’s and did some damage at their “off the rack” store at our nearest outlet mall. LOL!
I really like both outfits you created with the same pair of shorts. I ordered the navy top in the coral pink and the black & white. That is one brand that I like and the price is great. Larry and I have committed to taking at least 20 minutes every day to be together and relax. It has really helped both of us since we started doing it, so I’m glad you are going to relax at least once a week.
I love that top, I think the sleeves are so unique. Joe and I sat around my firepit last night, and we made our daughter come to join us. I hope it can become a nightly event so we can take a few minutes and relax and enjoy ourselves.
It would be helpful to see a side by side photo of the two looks when you do these type of posts. Maybe something for the future?
I’ll try to remember that, Kelly.
I like both looks but I’m partial to the brighter top. Good for you taking some time off to enjoy yourself!
I love bright colors too, but the navy is calling my name.
Very cute Tania, both ways! Your legs look great too, are you still using a self tanner?
I do use a self-tanner. Right now I’m using Living Tan.
