HOW TO MIX AFFORDABLE AND HIGHER END CLOTHING
I haven’t got to spend time with my granddaughter in Grundy since we moved, so I was thrilled that she was able to come to visit this past weekend. She and her brother are both so busy with sports, they don’t have time to come visit, especially since a lot of their games are on the weekends. They spent the night with Joe while I was gone to visit my mom a few weekends ago, but I haven’t spent time with them in a while.
I have been wanting to go to Grundy to watch some of their games, but so far they have been away games. She might be playing in one part of the county, and Beckham might be at another field. I remember those days when my children were younger. Joe and I would have to split up to take them to their games if they were playing at the same time. I have their mother looking over their schedules to see if there is a day when they will both be playing in the same area, so hopefully, I’ll get to see them play.
Today’s look is a mixture of different brands. There are days when I dress head to toe with one brand, but most days I try to mix things up a little. That goes for the prices also, I like mixing affordable and higher-end clothing. With prices, it is all relative because what I view as high-end might be what someone else considers affordable. We all have different budgets, and that is why I try to style clothing from a wide range of prices.
Today’s Ruffled Popover Striped Top is lightweight and feminine. This top also comes in pink, but I liked the white with the blue stripes the best. The top is 100% cotton, so it will keep you could this summer when the sun is beating down. I thought the split neck with the ruffled neckline added a cute feminine detail to my look. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
The Insley Gold Hoop Earrings in Blue Lapis bring out the darker blue stripe in the blouse. I love the mixture of the Blue Lapis and the lighter blue Turquoise beads. I added the Adeline Link and 18 Kt. Gold Vermeil Cross Necklaces to my look. There is a matching necklace to the earrings, and I wore that last Saturday.
Look at this cute Mother’s Day Turquoise Bracelet Set! I love this set since you can mix and match the strands to create the look that you want. This set also comes in a coral and a neutral version if you don’t care for blue. Each set has dangles with different sayings.
I love a White Cotton-Linen Blazer for Summer! It is crisp, and it is great to wear with dresses, jeans, shorts, or a jumpsuit! It is a “summer essential item” for me, and this one is lightweight and in a classic design. The blazer is lined, has a one-button closure, a notched collar, and hits me at my hips. I’m wearing a size 12, and the blazer fits great.
Here is a view of the blazer so you can see the length. I’m carrying a Tory Burch Striped Crossbody Bag, and I wish they would come out with this bag again this year. It is gorgeous and I love the stripes. The Anna Clutch from Coach Outlet is very similar, except the stripes are pink. I’m thinking about getting that one, but I’m not sure that I will carry a pink one as much as I do this blue one. What do you think? Here are a few other crossbodies that are super cute, and HERE is a Just Reduced link for Coach Outlet.
These are $20 jeans. Those of you who don’t like distressing will think that I overpaid. Lol! These High Rise Slim Boyfriend Crop Jeans are super cute, and I’ll be wearing them on repeat all summer long. They are comfortable and relaxed, and I love the distressing as a style detail. I’m wearing a size 8, and I love the fit.
I love these flax-colored Canvas Espadrilles. I bought these last year, but they are still on the website. I love espadrille shoes for Spring and Summer, and I think a wedge heel is the easiest of heels to wear. They are more stable than stiletto-style heels, and I find them easier to walk in. I’m wearing my usual size in these, and they also are available in navy and black.

Didn’t post to this day’s blog till a day later because I was too busy checking to see if my local Walmart had those jeans in my size…and they did! So off I went to Walmart! Bought them and the fit was great, and they laundered well too. I have some jeans with the raw hem and some with very mild distressing. I wanted some with a bit more distressing in this length, but I was not going to invest a lot of money. These totally fit the bill! I have another pair of Time and Tru that have a released/fringe hem that fit well also. Thanks for always doing a variety of price ranges!
I also enjoy reading the comments. I had been wondering why there were usually so few of them. Love todays jeans. Going by Walmart after while to get a pair. My local store shows they are in stock!!!
Your comment about mixing clothing of different price points reminded me of an aunt who paired a full-length sable coat with colorful plastic heels from K-Mart. She liked both of the items and wouldn’t have cared what anyone else thought about it! She was a Renaissance woman.
Love this look! Where is the blouse from? The link is not working for me. Headed to Walmart tonight for the jeans!
It’s is Friday the 13th, lol.
But when I looked at it, I felt like I had already seen it before.
Lol.
I do love the jeans, but the exact pair, been wearing them very often!
Not a fan of the distressed look, but…I can always do the same with what I like better. Cute outfit!
Great outfit and thanks for showing bracelet colors, love the mix of colors in that bracelet. I’m envious of people that can wear those jeans. This is not a complaint with you, but….the model is 5’10” and a size 4, the inseam is 26″. I’m 5’7 ” with long legs and that inseam would look 4″ shorter on me……..my life, I have to shop tall. Have a great day, you look great.
Robin, I’m 5’7” and I usually wear a 32-33 inseam, but these are meant to be ankle pants.
Tania, many times I try to post a comment but it never shows up. Today’s post is so cute. Luv the jeans. I miss seeing Lucy Lu on your blog.. Hope she’s doing good.
Karen, all comments go in moderation before they show up. So, I have to approve them, and sometimes it takes a while for me to get to them. Lucy Lu is doing fine, she will be in a photo in tomorrow’s post.
I love this outfit. Can’t believe the jeans are only $20. The blouse is so pretty. This is a good one Tania
I love those jeans! You might see them again in tomorrow’s post. Lol!
I love this look. Very modern and fresh. Would definitely wear it!
Yay! I’m glad you like the look! I thought it was modern looking too.
LOOOOOOVE today’s look!!!!!
I loved it too, but I was beginning to wonder if anyone liked it since there were no comments. Lol!
