One of the reasons I started blogging was to help women figure out how to dress your age but not frumpy. Many women, including myself in this group, put our time and efforts into raising our children, and “we” got put on the back burner. Then the kiddos left, and you might have been left wondering what to do with your time. When you put yourself on the back burner, it is hard to prioritize again, and you might not even know where to start.

Fashions can change so fast, and it is hard to keep up with all of the styles. Rules that we grew up with have been thrown out the window, and women are realizing that they don’t have to look “a certain way” once they pass the 40-year-old mark. When I first started the website, it asked me for my tagline, and I chose; “Age Is An Attitude, Keep Yours Young.” Someone asked the other day what that meant, so here is what it means to me. I’ve known women who were in their 30s, and they looked like an older woman. I’ve also known women in their 80s who looked youthful and vibrant. The only difference between these women was their attitudes. It was not a financial issue or even a lack of knowledge on how to dress; it was a mindset. One thought that she was getting older and that it was not “appropriate” for her to dress in a way that made her look younger. The other thought that she WAS young and vibrant and didn’t let the number of years since she was born to change her way of thinking.

Normally, Tuesday is my try-on day, but the clothing only arrived today, so it will be Thursday before I do the try-on haul this week. Instead, today I am bringing you a beautiful, edgy, and chic look that includes faux-leather pants. More about the pants later; for now, let’s talk about this gorgeous tank top and matching jacket cardigan.

I LOVE the length of the tank and the longer cardigan. This length hides my tummy, my hiney, and any other problem area that I might have. I think it also lengthens my torso, which helps me to look taller and thinner. Woohoo! That is a big plus in my book. I can see wearing this matching set with jeans for Thanksgiving or wearing them with leggings for a casual get together with friends. I am wearing a size 1 in both of these items, but the tank is very limited in sizes. The Petite version has all sizes available, and that might be something to consider. I sometimes buy Petites in tops, but never pants, and I don’t usually have any issues, especially since the tank is longer in length.

This geometric pattern is such a dramatic pattern, and it demands attention. The colors are black, white, and a gold/brown color, and there is a slight metallic look to them. The pattern seems to glow, but I can’t explain what I mean by that. Lol! I’ll show you a close up of the pattern down below.

This photo still doesn’t do the colors of the tank justice.

How many of you are open-minded when it comes to earing faux-leather pants? I saw a friend of mine post a question on Facebook asking if a 38-year-old could wear faux-leather pants. 🤦‍♀️ OF COURSE, YOU CAN, and so can you!!! I was impressed by these pants and found them to be very comfortable. If I had read the description, I would have realized they would be comfortable since they are made of a Ponte fabric with a faux-leather coating. Ponte knit pants are one of my favorite styles of pants, and they are a great alternative for jeans or leggings. These faux-leather slim pants are chic looking, edgy looking, and can be worn in so many ways. They create a wonderful long thin silhouette and give you legs for days. I am wearing a size 1 in these pants because I was afraid the “slim” description would make them run small; however, I could have easily worn my usual size .5 in these.

Whoops, I almost forgot to mention my pearl jewelry. You have probably already seen me wear this necklace more times than you can count, but that is how I am when I find something that I really like. The multi-strand pearl necklace does all of the hard work of layering for you. However, if you don’t want to wear all three layers, you can unhook one or two layers because of the unique clasp on the necklace. I love how versatile this necklace is and how many ways I can find to wear it. The earrings are a pair of large pearl studs that I’ve had for ages, and the pearl elastic strand bracelet is one that I found from Lilly Pulitzer and has been discontinued.

You have noticed that some of my photos show me wearing pointy-toe black block heel pumps, and some have me wearing red stiletto heel pumps. It all depends on the look that you want to create. The black heels blend in more, and the red pumps are more dramatic. There is no right or wrong choice; it is all a matter of preference and taste.

A huge part of looking younger also comes down to skincare. Since I started using Rodan and Fields, I am more confident in my skin and how I look. I love my skincare, and I hope that you love what you use also. But, if not, then keep reading. After I started blogging, I looked at some of my photos and was not happy with what I saw. I decided to try a new skincare product that I had heard about, and since it had a money-back guarantee, I felt like I had nothing to lose. I started using Reverse, which was the product for sun damage to help with dark marks and dullness, and I started to see my face brighten (and so did lots of my readers), then I added Redefine to help with fine lines and wrinkles and loss of firmness. I have consistently used the Redefine products for four years, and I am flabbergasted at how the years have rolled off my face. Do I look 20? NO! Instead of keeping on the path that I was on, I am literally turning back the hands of time.

Notice how my eyes are much more opened…this is because of the Redefine Eye Cream!!! I use several products 2X a day, including the Redefine regimen and eye cream, and I never miss using them!

Here is the amazing part……

R+F just IMPROVED the Redefine line……

It is 3x BETTER……

That means you see better and faster results in less time!

PLUS, right now, R+F has a SPECIAL where if you buy any regimen bundle with the newly formulated eye cream, they will gift you one of my favorite products, Active Hydration Body Replenish, which is a value of $66.00.

I just purchased those faux leather pants. Haven’t worn them yet but tried on and they are fabulous looking and feeling! Love your posts! By the way- I am 65 and still work full time so need to look and feel NOT frumpy in an office full of 30 somethings!

    1. Lora, if you are working in an office full of 30 somethings, then you DO need to be on your fashion game. Lol!

  4. Sarah Horn says:

The geometric sweater set with faux leather pants looks so beautiful on you , even better than the website ! Thanks for sharing !

  5. Awesome. You look stunning. One thing I experienced during my heavier days was nothing I wore looked stunning because I was 50 lbs overweight. I just looked frumpy because I was lumpy! I’m over 70 now with 20 extra pounds and I’m not sure about any trouser or pant that calls attention to my lower region. I don’t know how shorter gals can pull off that look. We 5’4” ladies are too tall for petites also in pants but I might consider that sweater set with just plain black pants instead. Since I can’t wear heels anymore that just compounds the problem. I think what really makes this outfit is the pearls. They are great but when I try something like that I feel like I’m 5 playing dress up. My solution has been to-die-for hair and skin. And well kept nails. You are such an inspiration though so I may haul out the long pearls I inherited from my mom. We called them flapper pearls. They are very long.

    1. I love the pearls also, and I have several strands of flapper beads. I love vintage jewelry.

Tania, you look stunning. Your outfit today is probably one of the top ones you’ve posted ever!

    Wow!

I’m tempted to purchase the tank/cardigan and necklace!

    1. Wow! I like the look, but I never thought it was the best. Lol!

  7. Fran Koschalk says:

Love you in this chic outfit. When I see these faux leather pants in the store, I wonder who can wear them. I still would be squimish in them, afraid I’d get steered down in them in my neck of the woods. I think I lack the confidence to pull off this look. I could do the tank and cardigan with other pants though. Still love the outfit!

    1. Go in the store, try on a pair, and walk up and down for just a minute. You don’t have to buy them, but at least give them a chance. You might be surprised at yourself.

  8. This outfit is wonderful!!! Love it and it is one that I would wear. In fact, I just bought faux leather leggings on Saturday.
This outfit looks wonderful on you by the way.

    1. Way to go, Connie. I have a pair of Spanx leggings that I need to get out of the closet and take for a spin.

  9. What lipstick are you wearing? I love it.

  10. Stephanie says:

12 years of Catholic school with uniforms. Then became a nurse back in the day we only wore white uniforms & shoes. I have no sense of fashion even though I have not worked in a hospital setting in 40 years. Thank you for all your photos, ideas & suggestions. A old dog can learn new tricks.

    1. Stephanie, you are exactly who I want to help with my blog. I hope that you find inspiration and that you tell others about the blog.

  11. I got your posts the last couple of days, but there was no note in there, just the link. 🙁

    1. I was wondering if the emails went out, if the link works, and if people knew to click the link.

  12. Age is 100% an attitude! My mother passed away a few years ago at the age of 92. She attended dances and went to the beach on a regular basis up until she was 91. She was the youngest “older” person I have ever known. The secret is to stay active and upbeat. I vow to follow in her footsteps.

  13. You have styled those clothes beautifully! I would have passed if I would have seen them on the Chico’s website. You look amazing.

    1. Wow! Thanks, Jane! That makes me feel great!

  14. Belinda H Kenley says:

What a fabulous outfit! You look stunning in it. I love the red heels with it, too.

    1. The red makes the outfit “modern” and trendy looking and the black keeps it classy and elegant looking.

  15. Barbara Hunt says:

Love the outfit. Hopefully someday I’ll be dressing up for work again. Still working at home most days and when I go in to the office, we’re pretty casual right now.

    1. I am pretty casual a lot of days too. But, I love having something in my closet that I can grab when I want to dress up.

  16. Love the outfit. You look terrific in it. Time to shop!

    1. Yay! I am glad that you like it!!!

  17. The sweater set looks beautiful on you. I love it. If I had seen that online…. I would have passed it right by. Thanks for trying it on for me!😊

    1. I am glad that trying on items helps you to envision how the clothing looks.

  18. Melissa Sloan says:
