HOW TO LOOK POLISHED AND PUT TOGETHER
Is it Friday already? Is this the last weekend before Christmas? I just looked at the calendar and had a small shock when I realized that it would be a whole new year two weeks from today! Normally at this time of the year, I am busy trying to figure out what my word for 2021 will be. But, the only word that comes to mind after the year that we have had is “survive.” But, I don’t want only to survive; I want to THRIVE. So, it looks like my word for 2021 has been chosen.
I think that “survive” might have been 2020’s word of the year, and I would hate to use a word twice in a row. I have mixed feelings about this year’s ending. I am so ready to end this year, but I am anxious about what 2021 will bring. 2020 started with such hope and promise, and everyone talked about 2020 being the year for VISION. Instead, we were all blinded by a pandemic that will go down in history as one of the worst years on record. Can we put 2020 behind us and go on to THRIVE in 2021? I sure hope so, but I guess only time will tell. Here is to the end of 2020, the beginning of 2021, and the hope of a better year! 🍾 🥂
I started this outfit with a basic sweater that I just ordered. Everyone needs a basic sweater for the winter months. This sweater is in the color Ecru, which is described as a yellowish-gray color. Huh? I don’t see yellow or gray in this top, but I am no expert. This looks like an off white, winter white, or ivory, or maybe a mixture of all of them. I know that it is a gorgeous neutral color that can be worn with anything. I am wearing a size 1 in this top.
I love this tweed plaid blazer from Ann Taylor Factory. The blazer looks fantastic with a pair of jeans, but it would look equally great with a skirt. I love the colors in this blazer; it is perfect for wearing in the fall and winter months. Plus, I can see myself wearing this some in early spring. I am wearing a size 12 in the blazer, and I think that it fits great.
I have to admit; these have to be the best-looking jeans that I’ve seen for under $30.00. I do love dark wash bootcut jeans, and this pair by Free Assembly is great. They fit nicely, they look great, and they are super affordable. These are a mid-rise pair of jeans, and they have a 32″ inseam. For your information, I am 5’6″ tall, and I am wearing my usual size 10, and they fit great. Here are a few more bootcut jeans options for you just in case your size is sold out.
The pointy-toe Lex bootie is the perfect neutral. I love the chunky 3 1/2″ block heel that makes the boot very stable to walk in. These boots run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size 9. I am wearing the Chestnut suede color, but these ankle boots also come in black leather. I love a pointy-toe shoe since it elongates your leg and makes you look tall and thin. Woohoo! I love looking tall and thin!
Have you given any thought to your word for 2021? I know what words most of us would use for 2020, but this is a G-rated blog and we can’t be posting those. Lol!

18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
I just found your blog tonight and have enjoyed reading through it. I love your style! I have 12 more days in my 50s and then with the start of 2021 I start my 60s—how can that be???
Anyway, my word for 2021 is going to be PERSEVERANCE. I love Galatians 6:9 “Let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” So, let’s not give up and persevere to the end of this pandemic.
I look forward to more posts from you. Thanks!
I, too, love this outfit. Now, to have somewhere to go so I could wear it.
My words for 2021 are PATIENCE and HOPE. Without hope, we have nothing. But, I see so many of us learning that we have to be patient until this mess is moving in the positive direction. I for one, have had to be forced to sit back and “Let go, Let God” take the reigns. If most of us could have our way we would expect all of this to be fixed NOW! But we are all being forced to learn to be patient. Be patient while a vaccine is created, be patient while our loved ones recover, and be patient for staying home to keep from getting sick.
Thanks for your positive posts that keep us going and hoping we’ll have a place to go and wear these lovely outfits that you suggest. Merry Christmas! Kay
Thrive is a wonderful, refreshing word for 2021! The blazer looks cozy and comfy for fall and winter, thanks for sharing, you are adorable as always!
Toania you always look fabulous and that outfit is no different! I think my word for 2021 has got to be Hope. Because without my hope in the Lord I would not have made it through this year much less the next with the impending doom of changes we may see. So I thank God for you and the blessing that you are in my life each day. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
great outfit !
Thrive is a great word! “Cheers” to you for a better 2021. (Yes, I bought the “CHEERS” T-shirt you featured). I plan to wear it while toasting the New Year at home! Love your outfit, love your blog. Hi Tania,
Yes, you always look cute in all your outfits. Great word. Keep praying for our country.
God bless you and your family,
Nicole
Will do that, Nicole! We could all use extra prayers.
Awesome outfit!
I am glad that you liked it, Julia.
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this blazer and went to purchase it last week. I had it in my cart and by the time I was done shopping, it was labeled “out of stock” in my cart!!! I was devastated and didn’t think an item would have been yanked from my cart that quickly, in a matter of minutes.
Oh no!!! I had that happen with me too from Nordstrom. Except, I. had already checked out and they went in and adjusted the total because it has sold out before the computer could update.
“Thrive” is an excellent word for 2021! And you look ah-mazing in those jeans! I thought for sure they were high end!
Jena, the jeans are really nice in person too. I love how thick and nice they are.
Hey tania! Thank you for sharing your style and stories. I look forward to them! I chose is Alive for my 2021 word. I choose to be ALIVE in the moment.. whatever the moment is.. blessing to you and your family.
I love that, Michele. If nothing else, 2020 has made us more aware of our blessings.
I love everything about this outfit! Are the jeans you have on the dark indigo ones? I’ve never done a “word” for the year but I’m going to give this some thought for 2021.
The ones that I have on are dark indigo. They are a great rich color.
Hi Tania,
Love this look. You look great. Thank you for sharing.
Merry Christmas…
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas also!!!
I love that you choose a word to meditate on in the new year. I have done that for many years….this year Kindness is the word I chose to concentrate on….I enjoy your blog my friend!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎉
Kindness is an excellent word for the coming year. If only everyone chose to be kind, the world would be a much better place.
Tania this outfit is going into my inspiration stack: Blazer with pattern, white shirt, jeans and light colored boots. Great! I think that 2020 was indeed also VISION. I realized following, that without Corona would have never came to my mind:
– I can have lunch every day with my family thanks to Home Office (before regular home office was a no go for our company and this will stay even after Corona)
– I can shift work around important things I have to do with my children (not the other way round like before)
– Embracing my mother means a lot to me
– I even could work full hours sitting on a beach with palm trees as long as there is internet connection (okay this one has to wait after Corona since no travel in 2020)
– The small things offer so much fun – like the 3 minute coffee break talk in front of the coffee machine with colleagues, a quick Uno card game with my 9 year old just before he leaves for school – 2020 let me found the joy again in the small things
And yes, we can THRIVE in 2021 to keep some of these insights going on!!! (sorry for the long comment)
I love your long comment, Manuela. You put a lot of thought into your response and I love that you have found the joy that came from 2020. It is all about finding the silver lining in the dark and gloomy clouds.
Tania, you’ve had a lot of cute outfits lately but honestly this is my favorite !
I also love your 2021 word…praying we all can thrive in the new year. God bless 🙏🎄☃️🎅
Thanks a lot, Christine! I loved this outfit also, it is casual but so CHIC looking.
