HOW TO DRESS UP A CASUAL TOP
Let’s face it, there are days when you just want to look good and strut your stuff. I would insert a photo of a peacock here for a visual reference, but I think that you get the idea. While I love going shopping, there are times when I just want to dress up a casual top instead of having to buy something new. If you are like me, then you are in luck, because I am going to show you how to go from casual to dressy in just a few steps.
Do you remember seeing this top earlier on the blog? When I purchased the top, I knew that I would be able to wear the top with a lot of different bottoms and in many different ways. Versatility is something that I try to keep in mind when I am buying solids or basic clothing items.
For the most part, I would consider this top a casual top. The main reason that I consider it casual is that it is sleeveless. I know that there are a lot of really dressy tops that are sleeveless, but for me, this one would fall into the casual category. Maybe that is because I don’t go out as much as I used to, so I can see wearing this with jeans and shorts most of the time.
However, by simply changing up the jewelry, handbag, and shoes, this top has now transformed from a casual top into something much more dressy. This faux-wrap top is flattering! It does a fabulous job hiding my tummy bulges since the draping of the fabric draws your attention to the side, instead of focusing on the stomach area. I am wearing a large in this top, and I love the way that it fits. The top is made with Rayon and Spandex, and best of all, it is machine washable.
I just got this beautiful link necklace the other day, and it looks so elegant and expensive, that I wish that I had ordered it sooner. Admittedly, the Beckett necklace costs more than I normally spend on a necklace, but I justified it with the fact that it is something that I will be able to wear for years. I can at least save you 20% off your entire order (if this is your first time making a purchase with Kendra Scott) by giving you this link. I added the matching Beckett bracelet, the Amiya gold cuff bracelets with a pearl. My earrings match the Amiya bracelet.
I couldn’t decide if I wanted to wear a classic shoe, or if I wanted to go with a modern and fun shoe. So, I thought, “why not show them both?” A black pump is classic, timeless, and elegant! You can wear a black pump for years and years since they will probably never go out of style. The pair that I have on are from Coach, and I am wearing a size 9 in these. Mine is several years old, but I still wear them all of the time. Here are some for you to consider.
The bright pink pumps might not be as timeless, but they are sure a lot of fun! These shoes look modern, and it changes up the whole look of an outfit. I’ve worn these with a black and white dress and WOW, they really added a “pop” to an otherwise classic look. These were a steal for me at $5.00 since they had a stain that I removed.
Y’all, this handbag is gorgeous, and it is so soft! This was a gift that I bought myself. It was nice to “treat” myself, especially with such a beautiful bag. The strap can be worn short like this, or long as a crossbody or over the shoulder, which gives you more options on how you want to carry the bag.
Once again, this is something that I have shown you earlier in the week. I want to make sure that when you buy something that I have styled, that you get lots of wear from it, instead of it hanging in your closet. These are the No Stain White Jeggings from Chicos, and I am obsessed with them. So far, I haven’t dropped anything on them to see how well the “no stain” works, but I can say that I love the way that they fit. I am 5’6″ tall and weigh between 155-160 at any given time, and I am wearing a .5 size in these. Chicos has a different sizing chart, and even though I am normally a size 10 from other websites, I find that I need to size down in Chico’s pants. I also bought some other items in white, and I’ll link those below.
