HOW TO BRING SOME SUNSHINE INTO YOUR LIFE
It has become a ritual for my granddaughter, Emersyn, to spend the weekend with me. She shows up Friday afternoon and doesn’t leave until late Sunday. We learn to cook, she loves to help me clean, we color, and we play a lot of card games. It isn’t anything special, but she is the center of attention when she is at my house. Everything revolves around Emersyn; what she wants to eat, what does she want to play, does she want to go swimming, or what does she want to watch on television. You get it…a grandmother’s house. Lol!
Well, this weekend was a little different. First off, she had a smart mouth throughout the week, so she was grounded on Friday. She set a timer on her iPad to let her know when her grounding was over, and she came as soon as she could. Lol! And, since Monday was a holiday, she had already figured out that she could spend Sunday night with me also. However, a couple of her dad’s friends (who she adores and very rarely sees) came by to celebrate Memorial Day with him. As soon as she saw their truck in the driveway, she wanted to go and say hello. We walked through the door, and she turned around, hugged me, and then said, “I’m going to have to ditch you, NeNe,” then she ran off to play. Wow! Nothing like being thrown down like a wet rag. LOL!
I love white and yellow this year. I had forgotten that I ordered this shirt from Ann Taylor Factory, and I ordered a very similar top with lemons last night on Chico’s. (HERE) This mood-enhancing top is very lightweight, and I would suggest wearing a cami under it since it is so thin. However, I don’t have on a cami, and you can’t see through it in the photos. I ordered a size medium in this top, and it fits me great. It is machine washable, so the care is easy. And, the price is only 19.99, so it is something to consider if you want a top to brighten your mood. HERE is the link to this top.
I added my large Maggie filigree hoop earrings (HERE) from Kendra Scott. I love how large these are, but they also come in a smaller size and even a huggie size. The Fallyn cuff link bracelet (HERE) is gorgeous, and it is excellent for those who have larger or smaller wrists. You can adjust how the bracelet fits by tightening or loosening the cuff. I also added the Reid Ivory Mother of Pearl necklace (HERE) to the outfit, but I am not sure that it added anything to the outfit. It looked better in person than it is showing in the photos.
First off, these shoes are old, and I mean OLD. They are my yellow espadrille shoes from Michael Kors that I have had for years. I didn’t think that I would ever wear a pair of yellow shoes, but I wear these all of the time, and I love them. Wearing these with jeans, shorts, and dresses are great when you want a pop of color, and they look like sunshine on your feet. Lol! I’ll see if I can find something similar for you gurls.

Matthew 6:25
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
You are one of my favorite “pins”. You have more people checking up on you than you know.
Emersyn cracks me up! What a privilege it is for each of you to be next door to each other.
First of, you always look great! Your outfits aren’t over the top, and you inspire me to try different things that I don’t think of!
I love yellow/mustard this year for some weird reason, so, when I saw this post I smiled. Yellow=sunshine! I’m so practical that I almost always would choose more neutral (boring!) colors for shoes and accessories. But this year I bought a yellow/mustard-ish Kate Spade satchel, and yellow sandals!
I never used to like red also- I just want to blend in and not stand out! But I have some red items now, and will add very soon, red flats/or sandals for a pop of red!
Thank you for your blog. Thank you for you!
I love this outfit on you. I think I like the Ann Taylor blouse even more than the chico’s one. I wear lots of different colors. Light pink is probably not the best on me but that may be a carry over from when a friend told me not to wear pink.
Sunshine is right! I love seeing more color. It seems everyone is coming out into the fresh air and craving color and excitement. Color is safe so go for it, I say. I don’t own any solid pants in color but I have several striped. My fav right now is a pink, blue and light green stripe. Pick out a matching peasant blouse, pair of strappy sandals and I’m dressed. I hate it though when you can’t tell how sheer a top is going to be until you get it. My new blouse is beautiful turquoise and so sheer, I have no idea how to wear it. A cami is not enough coverage.
You look great in yellow!! Wish I could wear that color. Thanks for your daily blog. Love!!
Cute outfit! I’m tempted to get that blouse. Looks great on you! I usually don’t wear yellow. Like me, my older daughter is also a blonde and she looks GREAT in yellow. She has a “lemon” top like the one you linked to, so maybe I should give the “flower” one a try. I love to hear stories about Emersyn. She’s quite the character! I hope to have grandkids one day…but first I need to get my four young adult kids married off. 🙂 Have a great day!
Beautiful outfit on you and I’m one that absolutely LOVES yellow. And love the stories on your feisty granddaughter. She sure loves her NeNe and she’s definitely your mini me 🙂
I love this outfit! My favorite color ever is pink. I wear a lot of black and have been trying to be better about incorporating more color. I did a bunch of on- line shopping (incorporating colors) when the pandemic first started and have lots of cute clothes to wear if I ever get to return back to the office!!
The yellow is so pretty on you! I love bright, bold colors especially blue, red and green. I don’t care for pastels like blush or peach. I do love navy blue and have a lot of it in my closet! That’s so special that you get to see Emersyn often, all my grands live across the country from me. I miss them so! Thank goodness for FaceTime and Marco Polo to stay connected!
This outfit is so cute on you! My favorite color is chambray, or anything blue. I’m trying to add some other colors to my collection to spice things up. Might have to check out the shirt from Chico’s. It’s wonderful you have your granddaughter so close to you. Mine are 1600 miles away. I’m so anxious for when I can travel to see them.
Love this outfit! I miss shopping in the US. My husband and I would come down at least once a year and hit all the outlets – Ann Taylor, LOFT, Chicos, White House Black Market…..
I love yellow, but can’t wear it near my face. I bought a sleeveless shell last year with lemons on it and wear it with my olive green pants. One color that I didn’t used to wear was pink, but now I have found a few shades that work and I find I wear it a lot – even in the winter! Love your blog – keep up the great work. Hi from Canada.
Love the OOTD! Yellow looks wonderful on you. I happen to be wearing a bright yellow top with my black pants to work today.
Lol, I’m tired after our weekend beach getaway and needed something to wake me up.
Love hearing the stories about you and Emersyn.
Hard a wonderful day.
Great outfit. Yellow looks good on you. I try to stay away from white. As much as I like how crisp and clean it looks, it seems to show every lump and bump. Plus with our well water it gets dinghy so fast.
Goodness, you look stunning in yellow!
It looks beautiful on you but I rarely pick yellow when buying clothing. I also do not wear rust red because it clashes with my skin tone. I love peach but I don’t wear it very often.
Love this outfit! It looks great on you! I love purple and any shade of blue. I never wear orange because it isn’t complimentary to my skin tone and I’m not fond of the color anyway.
I LOVE royal blue and red! However this outfit is making me reconsider wearing yellow. ?
Such a cute outfit, classy, sassy and fun!
I usually stay away from yellow on the top – near my face- but can always add a pop of color and it’s all good! It is a mood changing color for sure!!
Like this outfit and like it on you! Yellow to me is a happy color and refreshing! The print on the blouse just makes it pop!
And thank you for sharing the Grandma stories! Love to read and know that I’m not the only Grandma who spoils my Grandson with love! They grow up too fast! And I feel they keep us young!
Thanks so much!
The one color I absolutely stay away from is blush…it just totally washes me out. I love a pastel (nothing too bright) yellow during the summer because like you said, it is a mood cheering color. I also love a pretty green to wear with white jeans. I shy away from patterns and tend to have a mostly “solid colors” wardrobe.
Are those slacks tuscan sun color? They had another style in a bright yellow. They seem to match the blouse perfectly. They don’t look as bright in your pictures as on website to purchase.
Yes, they are the tuscan sun color.
Wow. In our state, social distancing is still strictly adhered to. We can’t hug our own grandkids let alone send them off to be near non-family members! So different in each state.
Social distancing is a thing here also. I am lucky that my grandchildren live next door to me and that my son works for us. The friends visited, but still kept their distance.
Tania, you look great in this outfit! The yellow is so cheerful, and I like the feminine look of the top.
You look so cute in this yellow. Yellow is a color I stay away from. I wear blues and pinks. I loved your story about Emersyn. My grandchildren are six hours away. Oh how I miss them. ❤️
That yellow outfit is adorable on you! I may have to order it! I haven’t seen yellow in awhile and it is pretty. I started watching my 3 grandkids yesterday for the summer. First thing at 8:30, they wanted to go swimming, they couldn’t wait! I let them go about 9:30 and it was cold!! They swam all day long except for about 1 hour! They are the sweetest!
Love the bright yellow sunshine look.
I like the yellow on you! Very bright and cheerful! My favorite colors are pink and red. I don’t wear earth tones like brown and olive green. They look terrible with my fair complexion and blond hair. I prefer brighter colors!
It must be because we are the same complexion and hair color because I don’t like most browns or olive green either. Bright colors make me feel alive!
The yellow is so flattering on you. I struggle wearing yellow, perhaps add pants or shoes would work! I too love blue! Navy, light, all shades of blue! Red makes me happy! You look great in this outfit!
You look adorable in yellow but I do NOT, so I never wear it. some of my favorite outfits on you are yellow though so please don’t take it negatively. This outfit is no exception, I look at it and think “I wish I could wear that”. Have a great day.
Mary, yellow is not the best color for me around my face, but I love the yellow shoes and pants. Plus, it is easy to add dabs of color in a top to get the effect without wearing all yellow. Give it a try.
My favorite color is green, any shade of it but mostly the bright ‘kelly green’ color. i wear all colors but the flesh toned colors was me out so bad. Love this bright sunny outfit!
The bright kelly green is my favorite! I don’t care for most other shades of green, but I adore Kelly green.
Really cute outfit today! You just look great!!! I love to wear blue , and I don’t wear red much! I should give it a try again!! You encourage us to try different things and that’s why we love your blog!!!
I love wearing blue also. It makes my eyes shine. I do believe in giving colors/styles a try since you might be surprised at how they look on you.
