50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO APPEAR POWERFUL AND STRONG | FASHION OVER 40The color red is associated with things like love, passion, and fire. Red is also associated with blood, which gives us life, or it can mean stop and danger. Colors play a huge role in the way we are seen, and in the way others see us. If you wear red, you might be considered powerful, strong, vibrant, and in control. Have you ever noticed how many men wear red ties when they want to appear strong and in charge?
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO APPEAR POWERFUL AND STRONG | FASHION OVER 40Red draws attention, and for that reason, I used to never wear that color. I wasn’t concerned if it was matching my coloring; I didn’t want anyone looking my way. The first time that I wore red, I was sure that everyone I came in contact with was looking at me. Come to find out; people are more worried about how “they” look, than how “you” look. If you don’t believe me, then try that experiment the next time you go to the grocery store, and let me know your results. I am so happy that I have now found a love for red, or I would have missed out on this wonderful waterfall vest.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO APPEAR POWERFUL AND STRONG | FASHION OVER 40The jewelry I have on today is simple because the blouse is so fancy. I chose to let the blouse by the star, and I didn’t wear jewelry to distract from the top. I only added a simple bar necklace and the large gold Dallin hoop earrings. I never want to have too many items competing for attention in one outfit.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO APPEAR POWERFUL AND STRONG | FASHION OVER 40Who doesn’t own a pair of black pants? I love color, but I still own several different styles of black pants. They are a staple in every wardrobe, and they are a classic clothing item. This photo was taken a month ago, so I am not positive which pair of black pants that I am wearing (#bloggerproblems), but any pair would work for this look.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO APPEAR POWERFUL AND STRONG | FASHION OVER 40I chose a skinny leg, or a cigarette style pant so that I could wear my favorite black pumps from Coach. I think that I come up with excuses to wear these shoes. Lol!
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO APPEAR POWERFUL AND STRONG | FASHION OVER 40You gurls are soo sweet to me. I truly feel loved and appreciated, and that is a feeling that everyone wants. I didn’t move my personal stories because anyone said anything, I thought that if you found my picture on Pinterest and then clicked to my blog, you might be confused on who Joe was, and why am I talking about him. Lol!!! A lot of you have probably already thought that more than once. Haha! He came home the other day, and he said, “so, you told everyone about the cats peeing on my clothes.” I just cracked up because you would think that he would know me by now. OF COURSE, I told everyone that story…duh! He acts all grouchy and grumpy, (he is really good at that), but he is really very soft and cuddly inside. I can’t wait until someone in town (yes, I am talking about you, Debbie) tells him that I put that on the blog. Hahahahaha!! There goes his bad-boy reputation down the drain.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO APPEAR POWERFUL AND STRONG | FASHION OVER 40Some of you have messaged me asking what R+F products you need. It occurred to me that it might be helpful if I had an “event” on Facebook to show you the products and tell what each one does. This would be an information-only type of event, and I would love for you to join me on Tuesday night (tonight) at 8:00 PM ET. Here is the link where you can request to join the event.

Red is a favorite color of mine along with black however, I rarely wear red for some of the same reasons you mentioned. Being a business owner,I am stepping up my game, to be the powerful, vibrant and in control lady that I am! The outfit is stunning… I had to reply. However, I see no mention of where I can purchase that top!

  8. I love red! You look great…happy & glowing.

  9. Don’t laugh but I always wear a red top when I get my blood work done. I have small vines and I end up looking like patchwork. It is still a favorite color and as long as it’s clear or leaning toward the blue side, I can wear it. Reds and blues look so pretty on you.

    1. You look great!! And I ordered the cardigan too!! Thanks fo inspiring us to dress better and get out of our “ comfort zone”

    2. Such a beautiful, classy outfit today! You look confident and ready to take on any challenge that comes your way. I’m a redhead and red and pink clothes look terrible on me, but I would try the cardigan in burgundy or peach. Did I miss the link?

  13. LOVE this look on you..

  14. great look! classy and easy for anyone to put together. Love it.

    1. Mary, you are right. Anyone can replicate this outfit.

  15. Hi Tania,

Love the outfit – red is also my color! I love your personal stories too – it makes it real and we want real!!

    1. Joyce, I am as real as you are going to get. Lol!

  16. Love this outfit on you. Stunning! The other day I purchased my first red sweater…since childhood. My mom’s fav color was red, she dressed me in it all the time. Another mom once asked her NOT to send me to her child’s bday party wearing red as it would “disrupt the other children.” I was a quiet 6 year old, hurt & embarrassed by this request. My mom thought the other mom was “a nut”. Red was my grade school’s uniform sweater color – guess they weren’t worried about disruptions. LOL. I was so sick of red by the time I hit high school that I gave it a permanent vaca. Earlier this year you posted a lovely cable-knit red turtleneck. I commented that I never wear red but loved your sweater. You encouraged me to give red a try. Well, I saw a similar sweater this week and ordered it. Thanks for the shove, Tania. I’m going to hit 60 this winter and be as disruptive as all get-out in my red power sweater. Have a great week.

  17. Red really is a colour that can’t be ignored. Very few women who wear red, blend into the background. It’s a colour that says, “Hey! Here I am!”
