HOW TO ADD A FEDORA FOR A CASUAL LOOK OVER 50
Vacations are supposed to be relaxing. The pre-vacation period is a stress-filled time of gathering clothing, shoes, toiletries, computers, cords, etc. I’m always afraid I will forget something important like our medications and vitamins. It never fails that something slips through the cracks, but usually, it is something minor, or you can run down the street and buy whatever you need.
I take thyroid medication, and once when I was on my way to Charleston, I remembered that I had forgotten it at home. Because I get my medication filled at Walmart, they were able to fill my prescription for me so that I had my medicine. Another time when we went to Cancun, I forgot my underwear. After laughing for 15 minutes straight, Joe told me not to worry; we would stop by Walmart before we had to go to the airport in Charlotte. That didn’t happen; then, he told me we would go to a store when we got to Cancun. That didn’t happen either. He still thinks it was funny even though I am still not amused. I bet you can guess the two items that I’ve never forgotten again. Lol!
If I were wearing different shoes, you would think I am ready to go on a Safari. I’m not sure if it is the Fedora Hat or the black and khaki color combination, but this look has the Safari vibe. The Black Resort Shirt surprised me when it arrived. I thought the shirt was made of cotton and would be stiff. Instead, the shirt is a rayon blend, and it is silky and feels nice against my skin. I’m wearing a size medium, and it fits great.
Here is a view of the shirt from the back. It isn’t a long shirt, but it isn’t cropped either.
The Summer Rafia Fedora comes in two colors. That natural with the black band like I’m wearing, and a black version with a black band. The hat is excellent for keeping the sun from beating down on you, but let’s be honest…it is the style factor that we all love. I have a large head, so I ordered the M/L, which fits me great.
How do you like these Oversized Square Sunglasses? I am a huge fan of large and oversized sunglasses, so these are a hit. I’ve been gathering inexpensive sunglasses for my trip, and these were part of a three-pack. These glasses were only around $7, so I won’t cry if they get scratched or lost.
The rest of my accessories include a pair of Adeline Hoop Earrings, an Adeline Link Necklace, a David Yurman Cable Loop Bracelet, and an 18 Kt. Gold Vermeil Cross Necklace. My black Straw Woven Elastic Belt with the round natural colored buckle tied everything together. I bought a 4-pack of these elastic belts, and I love how they can be adjusted to fit your body. I’m wearing a large, and they fit me great.
The Tan Utility Girlfriend Chinos are a great neutral. These chinos are the perfect casual pants, not too dressy and not too casual. I like the oversized pockets, and the raw hem is a modern detail. I think these chinos run true to size, I’m wearing a size 8, and they fit great.
I finished the look with a pair of Tory Burch Minnie Ballet Flats. Tory Burch is a well-known name that equals quality and style so that these flats will be just as popular next year also. The neutral color is perfect for wearing with almost anything, so that is another reason that I’ll get a lot of wear from them. I am wearing my usual size 9 in them.

I remember one vacation to Hawaii and just as we were landing, I realized I hadn’t packed ANY of my swimsuits!! That was an expensive mistake! Bathing suits in Hawaii are ridiculously expensive! And it didn’t even fit that great. Needless to say, I’ve never forgotten my suits since!!

Love this outfit. You need a vacation packing list. Mine is very detailed, especially with meds. It has boxes to check off. I keep it on my computer so I can make changes if needed.

That’s a great idea for an outfit…here is a question and sorry if you’ve addressed before. Do you always match shoe color to pants? Would a pair of black gladiator sandals work with that outfit?
I don’t always match my shoes and pants, but that is my favorite thing to do. If the shoes and pants match, then your legs look longer.

I am just not a fan of tan pants. I have looked at too many people from a distance that look naked that I just don’t wear them anymore. You look cute!!! I would swap.out the pant color though.
The color of the tan is what I look for. If the pants are a Khaki or tan, they are fine. It is the ones that are more a nude color that I steer clear of.
