I just got back from vacation, and I leave again tomorrow. Joe is rolling his eyes at me because that means he has to take care of the dog and cat. What I mean be take care of is, they have to still be alive when I get back home on Sunday. The cat has an automatic litter box that is a lifesaver, and Lucy is extremely easy since all he has to do is feed her a tiny bit in the morning and evening, and take her outside to potty 2 or 3 times a day.

We’ve bought several automatic litter boxes over the years, but this Self Caring Litterbox is the best one we’ve bought so far. When my daughter first came back, we bought one that lasted about two weeks before it quit. Then, we ordered this one and it has worked like a charm, plus it is quiet. Thomas (the cat) is finicky about his litterbox, but this one is Thomas approved. Lol! Here is the non-clumping litter that we use for the automatic litterbox.

When you follow 50isnotold, you never know what you will learn about. Hahaha! Since today is Wednesday, that means it is time for Hit or Miss! Today I’m sharing two items that might be a problem for some of you, and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I think of an outfit like Chicken and Dumplings. Some outfits might have items that I love, but I don’t love them together. That is how I am with Chicken and Dumplings. I like every ingredient, but I don’t like the outcome when they are all put together.

This Sanibel Eyelet Billow Sleeve Blouse seemed appropriate for me to wear since it has a beach print on it. This blouse is lightweight and 100% cotton, plus it has the billow sleeves which are popular this year. The top also has eyelet cutouts in a diamond pattern throughout the top for an added design feature.

Here is the length of the blouse from the back. I like that this is the type of blouse that can be dressed up or down, and it would look great with dress pants or a skirt. I’m wearing a size 1, and the fit is great.

The blouse is a classic navy and white print, and I added a Cotton Twill Classic Trench with it. I already have a shorter trench, but I think this longer version looks a little dressier. I’m 5’6″ tall, and I know several of you are already shaking your head that you can’t wear this because it is too long for your Petite frame. Wrong, wrong, wrong, because it also comes in Tall and Petite!!! I was so excited when I found that out because I hate leaving an entire segment of my audience out in the cold.

I rarely button any coat, and I usually tie the belt in the back to keep the coat open. When I had a coat on the blog previously, someone asked for me to show it buttoned, so here is that look for you. I’m wearing a medium, and I still have plenty of room if I wanted to wear a sweater under it.

Here is the look from the back, and as you can see, this is how I tie the belt in the back. I would say that this trench is a light to medium weight. It isn’t heavy, but it isn’t lightweight either. The trench is also lined and feels like great quality to me.

Because I was adding the dark trench, I wanted a slightly lighter color for my jeans. I’m wearing a pair of medium wash Slim Straight Fit Jeans in a size 8 long. The trench is long, so I wanted full-length jeans. These jeans have a slight stretch to them, so they are comfortable and don’t cut into you. The jeans are of nice quality and won’t cost you a fortune. I know they are limited in sizes, so I’ll try to find some similar jeans for you.

I’ve owned these Franco Sarto Wedge Pumps for a while, and I love their neutral color that goes with everything. I’ve worn these with dresses, pants, crops, as well as jeans. They dress up all of my outfits and make my legs look longer. I love pointy toe shoes for that reason.

The last items are accessories, and they make the outfit. The jewelry I’m wearing is AVI Large Hoop Earrings, Adeline Link Necklace, 18 Kt. Gold Vermeil Cross Necklace, and a David Yurman Cable Loop Bracelet. I’m carrying a Coach Lori Pebble Leather Shoulder Bag in Chalk. This is also a great neutral that can be worn with everything. There are a few less expensive Coach bags on the Coach Outlet, and I’ll link to some similar ones below. Just click on the photo to go to the item.

  1. Total hit. Like you, I love it unbuttoned with the belt tied in the back. 💗

  2. Hit on you. Not on me. Pretty blouse and it looks nice with the trench. I’d slim down the sleeves of the blouse and shorten the trench. Then it might be perfect!

  3. Since many of us 50 plus gurls are having 40, 45, and 50 class reunions. Could you give us some ideas for formal and informal outfits?

  4. I like the print on the shirt but not the sleeves. I love the shoes. Trench coat is nice also, but not anything I would ever wear. I guess it’s more of a miss for me.

  5. Cute outfit but not crazy about the blouse. Those sleeves would make me look to thick. It’s to hot in Texas to think about a coat but a cute trench coat.

  6. The blouse is a miss for me. I’m just not a fan. The trench coat, however, is a HIT! Love it. 🙂

  7. Diana VanWinkle says:

Thank you for helping me stay on trend without looking like I’m trying to be 25 again! I love your classic style!

  8. Love that navy trench! But I wouldn’t like the feel of the billowy sleeves under the trench as it would make my arms feel tight. Also, I think this would look much better with white jeans and, hence, different shoes.

  9. Outift looks nice on you but I’m not tempted by any of the pieces so I guess that’s a Hit for some and a Miss for others…which is how clothes should be

  10. Kathy Hayles says:

I love the top and the jeans. I’m not a fan of the coat. Makes the outfit look heavy. Nothing beats a good pair of neutral shoes!

  11. Jodi Riddle says:

Definitely a HIT, on you, and for me! This outfit is totally my vibe, as so many of your outfits are. Thank you for all you do.

  12. Vicki Putney says:

Love the style of the shirt but not the print. and that trench is gorgeous. I haven’t had one for years. time to get one again! and I love that you talk about anything and everything. one of the reasons I follow you. I’m not here just for fashion.

  13. You look great in the entire outfit and the classic look gives us options. We can always mix and match the pieces we favor. Thanks for the detail description and feedback on how things fit, feel and why you choose the items to go with the outfit.

  14. The outfit is a hit casual outfit. The link to the blouse is incorrect. The trench coat is quite a hit.

  15. I’m not crazy about the outfit as a whole. Seems kind of blah…especially for you, my bright color friend! However, the top would be cute with a pair of bright crops. The navy trench is cute but would look better with khaki pants. Rarely am I a fan of nude shoes. They’re boring.😆. The outfit has to be bold in order to pull them off, I think.
    Thanks for the fun exercise!

    1. You have the right idea. If you like a piece of the outfit, then you have to decide how you would want to wear it. The Trench with bright crops would look great.

  16. When I click on the link for the blouse it takes me to Amazon to the kitty litter.

  17. I got a chuckle when I clicked on the blouse and it took me to the cat litter🤣 I rarely wear a coat. I’m not a fan of trench coats. Love the blouse !

  18. Thank you for sharing such a wide variety of clothing items. I’m not a fan of the navy trench but it is probably just personal preference. I love that blouse for spring and summer.

    1. Just, I like a Trench since it is so versatile and Classic. But, everyone has different likes.

  19. Shirt site comes up kitty litter 😉😆

  20. Julia Gilbert says:

Love the jeans! Top and coat are a miss for me…

    1. I guess 1 out of 3 isn’t bad. 🤣

  21. This outfit is a hit for me! The only tweak would be a shoe with a slightly rounded toe. Looks fabulous on you!

    1. Nancy, I struggle to wear rounded toe shoes. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  22. Ginger Hiller says:

Welcome back to the States! Well, I think the blouse is very pretty and versatile. I’m not a trench coat kind of gal, nor do I need one down here, so I would pass on it. I bet the blouse would look great with white jeans. Great scripture verse today. Have a blessed day!

    1. I’m glad you liked the Blouse. I think it would look very crisp and clean with white pants.

  23. Love the shirt but not keen on the trench.

    1. It is all about picking and choosing the parts that you like.

  24. I can’t seem to get to the link for the blouse. It goes to Amazon and the litter box. Thanks.

  25. The navy trench coat is a miss. Even in the petite sizing too much
    The blouse is a hit!

    1. I’m glad you liked the Blouse.

  26. Not a fan. Shirt appears see-through. Trench is too long. Need different shoes perhaps? Sorry. 🙁

    1. Looks like it was a miss all the way around. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  27. Cute! Thanks for buttoning the coat. It helps to gauge what size to order based on how a specific size fits you. There’ve been several coats/jackets I have not ordered because I couldn’t figure out the right size. It’s cold where I live and a closed coat & layers under it are a way of life. Please continue to show a pic of buttoned/zipped outer layers. It’s a game changer.

    1. You’re welcome, Kathy. I rarely button a coat, so it isn’t usually something I think to do.
