GIRL RAISED IN THE SOUTH
Happy Monday everyone! I hope each of you have a great weekend. Mine was hectic, but filled with lots of laughter. I loved seeing my daughter, I can’t beleive it has been January since she was in the last time. After 10 minutes or so, it was like she had never left. It will take several weeks after she leaves for Joe and I to get over missing her. You get so used to having her in the house, and then all of a sudden the house seems empty.
Ashleigh is like a whirlwind. She is always wanting to go and do something, and we are used to our easy going routine. There is also an adjustment phase at the beginning of her visit. Lol! When we go to bed at night, we will run a box fan to help hide the noise from the television still being on. The food we eat changes along with the time we will eat. And of course, no walking around the house without clothes on! ?
Pink and brown is one of my favorite color combinations. This scarf top combines the two colors, and makes them look so elegant. The material is like satin, so it is very smooth. I am not usually that big a fan of the boatneck look, I prefer a v-neck or a low round neck, but this top is still one of my favorites. I think the cap sleeves, along with the dark brown on the sleeves, help to draw your eyes outward. The elastic banded bottom keeps the top in place, with no need for “tucking.” This top is by A. Byer, and I think I purchased it at JC Penney. I couldn’t find a similar top, but I am linking some that I really like.
Scarf Top: JC Penney | Inewbetter | LYI only have on one necklace today, but it has multiple strands. Lol! I really like this leather Plunder necklace. The first time I wore this Kimberly necklace, I paired it with lace. This necklace has it all; pearls, rhinestones, and leather. What more could a girl want? Haha I have an August contest running with Plunder. EVERYONE who places an order from Plunder through me in the month of August, will be entered in for a $25.00 Plunder gift certificate. You can buy a bracelet, and you will be entered into the contest. To shop with me, here is the website: http://www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens Try copying and pasting this in the address line, and hopefully it will work. If not, then type in my stylist number 241007 in the stylist box at checkout. I have started an online party, and there is a dropdown box where you can choose Tania’s P Party at checkout also. Several of you ladies have already taken me up on this offer. Good Luck!
Since I was wearing leather in my necklace, I chose to wear to leather cuffs, in the matching dark brown. Both of these cuffs were bought at little coffee shops, so I don’t have a brand to link to. The large cuff has the saying, G.R.I.T.S., Girls Raised In The South, and the smaller on says, I Can Do All Things Through He That Strengthens Me.
Bracelets: Same | Similar | SimilarI didn’t want to bring a lot of attention to my feet, so I chose light tan leather for my shoes, instead of the dark brown. I wanted to keep the attention at my face. However, these Rialto sandals with the gold trim are extremely cute.
Rialto Sandals: Navy | Rose Gold | EmbellishedMy pale pink ankle pants are Old Navy Pixie Pants. I love Pixie Pants, they fit me great, and they are flattering. I will even wear them in the fall and winter by tucking them into my knee boots. Once again, this takes a clothing piece and makes it more versatile. Or how I usually phrase it, “More Bang For Your Buck!”
Ankle Pants: Talbots | Ellen Tracy | Old NavyHere is a photo of part of the girls that came to the party on Saturday. My daughter is in the orchid colored dress, second from the right. As you can tell, she did NOT inherit my bosom.?
This was the second wave that showed up. Some only stopped by for an hour or so, while others spent the night. This crew has been together since grade school, and it looks like 10 years after high school, they are still close friends.
I struggled to take pictures when I was at the woman’s club conference. In fact, I didn’t take any pictures for the blog at all, but I did manage to take a couple selfies to send to Joe each day. I didn’t want him to forget what I looked like. Lol!
Here was day number one. I have on a dragonfly pin, that is the symbol of our new District President. We wore the pins because we were hostesses for the conference, and anyone who had questions could ask someone wearing the pin.
Here was selfie number two. I am still trying to learn the “art” of the selfie. It is incredibly hard to take a picture, click the button, smile into the camera, and look decent all at the same time. I had hoped he would take the hint and send my a selfie of himself, but that never happened.
I am leaving you with a Brad Paisley hit. This is probably my very favorite song by Brad, and that is saying a lot. He has a huge amount of hits that I really like. But, when this song comes on, Joe and I will always start slow dancing. I can’t hear it without smiling. Play it when your hubby comes home tonight, and get your own dance going. ?

What is the cross necklace in your second selfie picture? I don’t do selfies well either, I do always use delay so I can hit the button and smile before it shoots!
Tricia, that is the Nellie necklace by Plunder. I am wearing it the shorter version in that photo.

Hi Tania – I love your hair in the 1st day of your conference pic. I wish I could get mine grown out to look like that. Also, love the dragonfly pin. I collect dragonflies!
I have a houseguest right now (and her dog), so no, NO WALKING AROUND NAKED, ha! You crack me up.

What a blessing to have so many girls at your house all gathered around your beautiful daughter! And you take awesome selfies! WIsh I could learn to do that! Mine look like some old homeless hag!
Charlcy, I think we are our on worst critics.
Really like the selfies; such a fresh look. Today’s outfit is very nice – good summer look. Thanks for the music.
Looks like you just keep losing weight. Always hard after 50. Great job
I am trying to find your blog of how you style your hair. Can you tell me where to go find this? Thanks.
I enjoyed hearing about your adventure with your daughter when she first came home. No matter how short a time or how long of a time someone stays over night there is always a change in the house one way or the other.
Love your hair!!
Oh that dragonfly pin! I love that, I bought a dragonfly brooche in the UK in May, I wore it once and it was gone! Don’t know if or where I lost it but I was really sad because it was from my beloved England. So now I’m going to buy a new one, next week we are going on a holiday to the UK again. I love your selfies but I don’t think Joe will forget you!! Hahaha. Enjoy the time with your daughter.
I agree with Tash about your hair on day one at the conference and your lip color is gorgeous! What brand and color is it?
Good Monday Morning To You Tania…..I’m so glad you had a great visit with your daughter. Again, another great outfit. Your hair looks lovely with the curls. That necklace is one of my favorite Plunder necklaces. I like vintage jewelry and a lot of their pieces look vintage. I enjoy your inspiration, humor and entire blog. I am really looking forward to your fall fashions coming up soon. ~Lisa~
Love the music, love your new hair and really love your blog. Look forward to receiving it as everyday is a surprise
Super nice blog post Tania – love your pink and brown combo! Today is the first day of school and I’ve had 5 weeks of my daughters chitter chatter around the house and friends coming round so the house seems some what empty now…but i’ll have more time to work!
Today I posted about pre fall fashion – it’s coming into the shops big time in Zurich – how about where you are? Anyhow you might like to take a look at Europe’s top trends: http://funkyforty.com/perfectly-passionate-about-pre-fall/

Hi Tania,
I just adore your hair on day one of your conference. So soft and famine, gorgeous
Yes! You look so cute in this picture. Selfies are difficult. What necklace is this? It is beautiful!
Love the hair in the selfies on day one.
Tania, this is one of my favourite outfits that you have worn, I love everything about it. I’m with you on boat necks, sometimes they can make you look too much like a block but your gorgeous necklace pulls the eye downwards and the elasticated waist means that you’re not constantly yanking it down, you can just put it on and forget about it. I’m so glad your daughter had fun with her friends and how great does your hair look with a curl!
I couldn’t agree more!!
