FASHION THAT LOOKS LUXURIOUS BUT IS AFFORDABLE
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We had a lot of fun this weekend and way too much food. My cheat meal turned into a cheat weekend, but I don’t intend to stop living because I am trying to watch my weight. I cooked Saturday night, and we went to a Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday that was so delicious.
Our friends, the Hackneys, joined us for the weekend, and it was nice catching up with each other. The weather was beautiful on Sunday but a tiny bit chilly. I was thrilled that it wasn’t raining, especially since we had such bad weather Friday and Saturday. We planned to sit on the screened-in porch or beside the fire pit, but the weather forced us inside. Joe and Freddy were called into grilling duty, and they did a great job on the steaks. Doesn’t Joe clean up well??? We just bought his Windowpane Plaid Sportcoat on Friday, and I loved it on him so much that I made him also grab this brown Traditional Check Sportcoat. Our date nights are going to be fancier. Lol!
Because the weather was chilly, I wanted to wear something that would keep me warm. It turns out I didn’t have to worry about that since they sat me right in front of the fireplace. This is a Spaghetti Strap Smocked Maxi Dress in a dark red floral pattern. The wonderful thing about this floral pattern is that you can also wear it in the fall. The colors in the print have both traditional fall colors, as well as white, light pink, and a brighter pink that are associated with spring and summer. I love the smocked bodice and how the dress flows away from my problem area, aka…my tummy. Plus, it has pockets! Lol! I’m wearing a large, which is fine, but I could have worn a medium also.
Here is what the dress looks like without the blazer. I know that some of you will ask me what kind of bra I’m wearing, and the answer is none. Usually, I wear Hollywood Fashion Secrets Silicone Coverups, which work for me. I’m linking to a 2-pack because it is cheaper than buying only one. For those who are larger chested, you might want to try this pair or this one. My daughter has agreed to be a Guinea Pig, and I’ll let you know her thoughts soon.
I added this casual long sleeve blazer to my outfit to keep me warm, but I loved how it made the outfit look finished. I feel like the blazer is longer than it looked on the website, but I like a longer blazer, so that was fine. I ordered a large which fit me, but the sleeves were slightly long. I used the rubber band method (Put a rubber band over the sleeve, shoved the sleeve up, and then covered up the band), and then I was happy. This blazer has lots of great reviews, and it comes in a wide variety of colors.
Here is the look from the back. I saw that someone complained about the blazer having fake pockets, which is confusing since the pockets aren’t fake. This blazer isn’t the same quality as ones I buy from Chicos and Talbots, but the price reflects that.
This cute Woven Evening Crossbody Bag also comes with a gold chain if you want to carry the bag by its handle. This is a small bag, but it held my phone, keys, and lip stain with no problem. The bag is smooth and subtle, but it isn’t leather. I think the bag still looks exceptionally lovely, or I wouldn’t have carried it to the brunch. If you want to try a handbag for a pop of color, take a look at this one since it is affordable and comes in lots of colors.
My daughter caught a photo of me swishing around singing; It’s Got Pockets. Lol! The jewelry that I’m wearing is some you’ve seen me wear a lot. The Danielle Mother of Pearl Link Earrings, Adeline Link Necklace, 18 Kt. Gold Vermeil Cross Necklace and a David Yurman Cable Loop Bracelet are pieces that I reach for all of the time.

I love this outfit. Although the dress was from Target and the jacket was from Amazon, I think it looks expensive and very classy.
Paulette, I thought it looked expensive and classy also.
I feel the same way about needing to wear a slip. But my DIL says you don’t have to so instead I wear jockey’s slip/panties. You know they look like bike shorts but are lighter material. I feel like that helps me feel covered and my thighs won’t rub and No panty lines
Love Sunday’s look Tania! Glad you had a wonderful day with family & friends! QUESTION: I bought the white dress that u posted a while back & I’m wondering -what undergarments did you wear with it? I know it is lined, but Im wondering if I still should wear a slip in the bright sunshine. ????? I’m 53 years old, so I have a little difficulty letting a dress liner suffice. I would die a thousand deaths if I thought someone could see my undies beneath the dress!!!! What say you????
Deborah, you made me laugh about dying a thousand deaths. I don’t think it needs another slip, but I would put it on when the sun is out and have someone check for you.
