Are you a fan of lady jackets? I have to laugh because last week, I asked my sister that question, and she was so confused. She had no idea what a lady jacket even was! I had to send her photos and links to get her to even believe there was such a thing. For you and HER, today I’m sharing some fantastic lady jackets to wear now.

I love this new trend, probably because it is a take on a vintage look. The Lady Jacket is an inspired trend of a Chanel-ish look. It gives off a classic, upscale vibe, and I love the elevated casual look. I wore this outfit to the dermatologist the other day, and I thought it looked polished and put-together.

Fantastic Lady Jackets To Wear Now – From J Crew

This is a traditional lady jacket. They are basically an updated Chanel-like jacket, usually short or cropped length, without a collar. You’ll find a ton of them in stripes. This lady jacket from J Crew comes in several fun variations, both striped and solid. These work for almost everyone, but my petite readers should make these a staple in their wardrobe.

Lady jackets don’t have to all look the same. This is cropped and striped and has distinctive buttons, but I love the V-neck and the fuzzy sweater material. The color is “warm sesame and indigo” but if you like your jackets darker, it’s also available in black with warm sesame stripes. On a side note, I think I’ll tell Joe to hand me my “warm sesame” sweater and see what he comes out with, lol.

Fringe is featured a lot in lady jackets. I love the marled yarn, the black and white color combo, and the gold buttons. Plus, it has short sleeves, which means I can wear it in late spring. Believe it or not, it’s also machine washable! This jacket is 17.5 inches long and should hit right above the hip.

Fantastic Lady Jackets To Wear Now

Here’s another marled yarn version that I think is gorgeous. It’s really giving me retro Chanel vibes. I like the navy and black, but it’s also available in, that’s right, warm sesame! Pair this with a great pair of jeans and either loafers or chic sandals depending on your climate, and you will look incredibly chic. Take note: the shoulder is dropped, so if you find that style unflattering, you may want to go with one of the other versions.

Fantastic Lady Jackets To Wear Now – From Amazon

This is a very affordable version of the lady jacket rendered in classic black and white. I love the black edging, and I REALLY love the price – just $29 dollars. This is machine washable and comes in black with white trim, navy and white, khaki, and bright white. At that price, you can buy several!

This is from the same company, but a little bit more expensive. I guess stripes cost more, lol. Still, it’s reasonably priced at under $43 dollars. The red and white is great, but it’s also available in a nice blue with white stripes version – perfect for a nautical vacation. There are ten options in total, so take a look at the link if red isn’t your favorite.

Even though lady jackets are based on a classic Chanel jacket, they don’t have to be worn in a staid or boring way. This has a very modern feel when paired with boyfriend jeans or some funky platform sneakers. The quality of this jacket is high, and it’s a bit more expensive because of that. Still, it’s under $100 dollars and the reviews say that it looks much more expensive than it is.

Fantastic Lady Jackets To Wear Now – From Macy’s

You’ll be pretty AND polished in this pink lady’s jacket from Macy’s. Dress it up or down, whatever the event calls for. It’s fully lined and, unlike the others, has a hook and eye closure instead of buttons. The long sleeves have a slit at the cuff, so you won’t feel constrained. Don’t love the pink? It’s also available in a nice green plaid.

I may be stretching this to call it a lady’s jacket, but it’s cropped and has buttons, and I liked it! The description calls it a cropped blazer, but whatever you call it, I think it would be great to wear to work or play. I love playing with opposites – hard and soft, work and play, structured and less structured. Put this on with a pair of dark wash jeans and some high-heels for an elevated and chic outfit.

Okay, ladies. Let me know if you’re a fan of lady jackets, or like my sister, have never heard of them!

Whenever you SHARE my posts on PINTERESTINSTAGRAMYOUTUBE, AND FACEBOOK, it helps other ladies who might be style-challenged to find my blog. I appreciate every one of you, and I consider you a friend.

  29. I have heard of these jackets and have one. I just love the look. Just ordered another one of your recommendations.

  30. I quess I’m a lady cardigan owner, I bought one a year ago just because the beautiful buttons 😂
    I love your posts !

  31. I had never heard of lady jackets either, but I should probably give them a try. I’m petite and usually avoid blazers because they are too boxy on me, but sometimes I want something a bit more polished than a cardigan or jean jacket.

    1. There are lots of different styles of these jackets. Some are knit, so they would by lighter weight, and possibly not as boxy.

  32. I as well had not heard of a “lady jacket”. Definitely very feminine for sure. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of fashion.

  33. Karen Daniel says:

You inspired me to order a lady jacket from Amazon. I feel like this is a trend but for me it could be a forever style. I had a striped one a while back and used to wear it all the time.

  34. Linda Shearer says:

Never tried on a lady jacket probably too hot for me but really like those NYDJ jeans and the Ella Tote!

  35. LOL! I’d never heard of a Lady Jacket but after reading the post, I’m happy to find I have two of these in my closet. They are both old but I loved the “blazer” like look of these collar-less sweaters and kept them. And both are stripped. I guess fashion really does come around again. They just rename it!!!

  36. I wire a cropped jacket once when I was teaching. I turned to the chalkboard (no white boards then), and reached up to start writing. Of course, the jacket went with my arm. So although I like the look, l I know better than to wear anything cropped. I’m always pulling it down, and I don’t want to be fidgeting with my clothes!

  37. I really like the look of these lady jackets. So classy!

  38. Jenniffer Groski says:

  44. Karen Nau says:

Had no idea that these little blazer/jackets were called “Lady Jackets” As an elected official, my wardrobe needed an update last year. Might use my Macy’s gift card on the pink outfit and my Amazon credit on the black. Thanks for the fashion lesson.

  45. I’m glad I’m not alone as I too didn’t know these were called lady jackets. They look great with high waisted pants as I wouldn’t want my mid section showing. Maybe in my younger days 😉

I have a berry colored one that gives me Emily Gilmore vibes.

  46. Love these lady jackets!

  47. I have an ivory with navy stripes tweed crop Loft jacket from several years ago. It qualifies as a lady jacket. I’m glad I have kept it. If I think I paid a lot for an item, I hang on to it. I know the retailers may change the style a bit but not always. This jacket is a good example. I think with lady jackets an older woman had to be careful what she stylesit with to not look frumpy. Styling with jeans looks modern.

  48. Diana VanWinkle says:

The name lady jacket kind of makes me cringe. Lol. I love the look, but the short cut would not work for me. The longer Amazon one you shared is already in my cart, however!

  49. I’ll admit, until the last year or so, if someone mentioned “lady jacket” to me, I wouldn’t have had a clue what they were talking about, but now that I know, I assume everyone knows! I went into my local Loft store (15 minutes before closing), looking for a specific sweater, describing it to the saleslady as looking “like a lady jacket”. She paused for a second with a deer in the headlights look, “A what?” We both walked around the store searching for a red sweater that looked “like a lady jacket”. She had given up hope when I spied a whole rack of them – right in front of the register!

    1. Lol! You would have thought that someone in retail would know they are called that.

  50. I never knew these were called lady jackets, and to think I got rid of the ones I had. I thought they were outdated. I also didn’t know I could pair them with jeans, love that look. Wish I had kept mine.

  51. Gloria Payne says:

I never knew these were called lady jackets, and to think I got rid of the ones I had. I thought they were outdated. I also didn’t know I could pair them with jeans, love that look. Wish I had kept mine.

  52. Mary Carol says:

I honestly had no idea what a lady jacket was!! Very stylish, especially for cooler spring days.

    1. Anita Douglas says:

These are all great for indoor activities in Florida, as the air conditioning can get a bit too chilly.

  53. Hmmmm. Cute but I think I need my jackets a little longer. Maybe if the pants are high enough in the waist.. I’m keeping an open mind. Thanks, Tania, for giving us ways to update our looks.

  54. Didn’t know anything about lady jackets, very cute! I just ordered the striped one from Amazon. They are currently on sale ladies!!

  55. I love the lady jackets, they remind me of Jackie O. Unfortunately I am large busted 36DDD and thy look ridiculous on me. Any suggestions? Thank you love your posts. Jamie

    1. Jamie, I’ll have to think about that. I’m not busty, so that is harder for me to answer.

  56. Delanie Collings says:

Lady Jacket…..I love that description! It sounds so elegant. I love how you’ve shown how these Lady Jackets can be dressed up or down. So versatile. Again, thank you for doing the shopping!

PS: I love decorating with sentimental decor items too! Especially family history stuff and vintage (old, actually 😂) family “heirlooms”. I love your foo dog!

  57. I love a lady jacket.
When I looked on Amazon, the Illusury lady jacket is on clearance! I bought 2 🤣😂

  58. I am 5’2″, but I have a health condition which makes my stomach really bloated at times. I wish I had the skinny stomach of those models so the short styles would look cute on me! I prefer the longer styles that hide more. Thanks for the style ideas!

    1. Maybe the one I’m styling tomorrow will work for you.

  59. Laura Garrett says:

Love the jackets. I have one from St. John that is ?? Years old but I won’t get rid of it since it’s a classic style in ivory with hot pink details – still current! Have a great weekend, Tania.

    1. I love St. John, but it seems like everything I have from them is so old and dated. 😒

    1. I too, never knew these Chanel styled jackets were called lady jackets. Coco Chanel would roll over in her grave seeing her style now be Shown with bare bellies.
      Not classy at all.

      1. Obviously, that is a style that younger ladies might like, but mine will be worn with a longer top.

  60. I love these jackets, and wear them often, never knew they were called Lady Jackets, thanks for sharing

  61. My fashion vocabulary has increased today. Never heard the term Lady Jacket, but I do love them. Nice to have a name for them now. They’re very Jackie O, in my opinion, and I’m a huge fan of classic style.

  62. Debbie K. says:

I love a good jacket, but I’m not a huge fan of the cropped look. I like a bit more coverage. Some of the gurls are larger than size 8. 😉

  63. Love the lady jackets, especially the red and white stripe!! Beautiful

    Debbie

  64. Kimberlee A Thompson says:

I love lady jackets and have purchased many this season! Thanks for doing a post on them!! Btw, when do you sleep?? You are constantly surprising me each morning with your new and timely posts!!! Love you and your great eye for fashion ❤️

    1. Lol! I looked at my sleep score, and I had a 91 last night. I must have slept really good.

  65. Barbara Armacost says:

I love lady jackets!! They add a nice polished look to an outfit. I especially like the J Crew jacket.

  66. Yes, to lady jackets and basically just short cardigans! Also yes to having family keepsakes displayed in your home to enjoy versus storing them away!

  67. I didn’t know about “lady jackets” either. So glad I found you, it’s like having my own personal stylist.

  68. I love lady jackets.the can really elevate an outfit.

  69. I love this post! The post came just in time! I cleaned out my closets and threw my nice Talbots lady jackets in the give away bag. I didn’t know that they were in style anymore 😳 I’m petite and have always liked this style. Tania you saved the day! I also purchased the Amazon one you recommended today. Thanks so much!

    1. Rhonda, I hope you like it! We always miss things we get rid of. Lol!

  70. Stephanie Weeks says:

I have been thinking about buying one

  71. I really have to be careful with things being too short…I do love the pink jacket!! LOVE the Foo Dog ashtray!!! Happy Friday❤❤❤

  72. Cathy Carter says:

I have some in my closet… used to wear them to work but i didn’t know that is what they are called!

Good for you on your home decor… having unique items in your house makes your house a home and different from everyone else’s! I have special things from my parents and aunt and i treasure them.

  73. Oh, how I love the white with black trim lady jacket from Amazon! And the price is great- I thought it was a misprint. These lady jackets remind me of the fashion in the 60’s. Jackie Kennedy wore this style and always looked so chic.

  74. Love the jackets. Wasn’t familiar with lady jackets. Great post. I am the same about decorating. I’ll look on Pinterest and copy a room. Only way I know how lol.

  75. I am like your sister, I never heard of a lady jacket. I really like the Chanel -ish look. Classic. Now I have to decide which one to order. Lol. Thank you for this post!

  76. Thanks for educating us! I didn’t know these were called “lady jackets”

  77. Years ago I had a sweater just like the first one with gold buttons I bought at The Jones Store. Loved that store hummm…days gone by…

  78. Love the lady jacket style and own several, so chic. They do remind me of the Channel inspired boiled wool jackets from years ago.

  79. Love this season’s lady…I’m petite so the shorter jackets are better on me! The pink one is my fav!

  80. Check out the Talbots clearance. There are lots of the “cropped” jackets left. Some are in colors that might could be worn for Easter, depending on your climate, since Easter is in March. I just got this one and can’t wait to wear it.

  81. I think I have lady jackets in my wardrobe from years ago. Did not know they were called that. Will certainly not be wearing them with my belly sticking out. I think my favourite was the Amazon jacket.

  82. Mary Kinard says:

I’m with your sister, I had no idea what a lady jacket was until now!

  83. ❤️I agree having pops of sentimental pieces do make a house a home.
The lady jacket trend does seem timeless.

  84. My home is a conglomerate of family pieces as well. Things of this nature are priceless. I love it♥️

  85. I have always adored the Chanel style jackets – with lots of pearls and gold chains! Very classic. Great jackets shown in this post.

    1. I do too! Thanks for the reminder!

  86. Love lady jackets!!!

  87. Although lady jackets are cute, I’m not really a fan if they’re too cropped. They can look great on someone who is short like I am, but I prefer they at least come to the top of my hips.

    1. The great thing about these jackets being cropped is that they make your legs look long.

  88. Love your blogs. The price range you provide is ideal. Keep it up! Plus you love football & dogs! My kind of gal!

  89. Such a beautiful classic look!

  90. I have wanted a Lady Jacket from J Crew for the longest time but I’m so long waisted that I don’t think it will work. I think the navy and white looks lovely on you! You have inspired me to go try one on and stop wondering! Have a great weekend!

    1. Lori, I ordered a long one from J.Jill, and it will be on the blog tomorrow. It is longer, so you might like it better. https://bit.ly/4aWMCph

  91. Love these jackets. Will be looking for them. Thanks for the examples.

  92. Love the foo dog. Like the jackets but couldn’t wear them because they are so short.

    1. You might be surprised, Karen. They are not all short. I’m long waisted too, and I am loving them.

  93. I’m like your sister 😳
    But I love the look.

  94. I love jackets and have never heard these referred to Lady Jacket. I am off to Amazon right now to purchase my LADY jacket (love the stripped one!) Thank you for teaching this “old dog” a new “trick”. I am getting together with my GURLS for a volunteer opportunity helping teachers and will educate them about lady jackets!

  95. Stephanie says:

I do like Lady Jackets & have several but I never knew that is what they were called. Like the way they look with jeans. Definitely elevated casual.

  96. monique dickerson says:

I love that you have your grandfather’s ashtray! My home has a lot of “little” touches to remind me of my grandparents, including the house itself!
