Are you a fan of lady jackets? I have to laugh because last week, I asked my sister that question, and she was so confused. She had no idea what a lady jacket even was! I had to send her photos and links to get her to even believe there was such a thing. For you and HER, today I’m sharing some fantastic lady jackets to wear now.
I love this new trend, probably because it is a take on a vintage look. The Lady Jacket is an inspired trend of a Chanel-ish look. It gives off a classic, upscale vibe, and I love the elevated casual look. I wore this outfit to the dermatologist the other day, and I thought it looked polished and put-together.
Fantastic Lady Jackets To Wear Now – From J Crew
This is a traditional lady jacket. They are basically an updated Chanel-like jacket, usually short or cropped length, without a collar. You’ll find a ton of them in stripes. This lady jacket from J Crew comes in several fun variations, both striped and solid. These work for almost everyone, but my petite readers should make these a staple in their wardrobe.
Lady jackets don’t have to all look the same. This is cropped and striped and has distinctive buttons, but I love the V-neck and the fuzzy sweater material. The color is “warm sesame and indigo” but if you like your jackets darker, it’s also available in black with warm sesame stripes. On a side note, I think I’ll tell Joe to hand me my “warm sesame” sweater and see what he comes out with, lol.
Fringe is featured a lot in lady jackets. I love the marled yarn, the black and white color combo, and the gold buttons. Plus, it has short sleeves, which means I can wear it in late spring. Believe it or not, it’s also machine washable! This jacket is 17.5 inches long and should hit right above the hip.

Here’s another marled yarn version that I think is gorgeous. It’s really giving me retro Chanel vibes. I like the navy and black, but it’s also available in, that’s right, warm sesame! Pair this with a great pair of jeans and either loafers or chic sandals depending on your climate, and you will look incredibly chic. Take note: the shoulder is dropped, so if you find that style unflattering, you may want to go with one of the other versions.

This is a very affordable version of the lady jacket rendered in classic black and white. I love the black edging, and I REALLY love the price – just $29 dollars. This is machine washable and comes in black with white trim, navy and white, khaki, and bright white. At that price, you can buy several!
This is from the same company, but a little bit more expensive. I guess stripes cost more, lol. Still, it’s reasonably priced at under $43 dollars. The red and white is great, but it’s also available in a nice blue with white stripes version – perfect for a nautical vacation. There are ten options in total, so take a look at the link if red isn’t your favorite.
Even though lady jackets are based on a classic Chanel jacket, they don’t have to be worn in a staid or boring way. This has a very modern feel when paired with boyfriend jeans or some funky platform sneakers. The quality of this jacket is high, and it’s a bit more expensive because of that. Still, it’s under $100 dollars and the reviews say that it looks much more expensive than it is.

You’ll be pretty AND polished in this pink lady’s jacket from Macy’s. Dress it up or down, whatever the event calls for. It’s fully lined and, unlike the others, has a hook and eye closure instead of buttons. The long sleeves have a slit at the cuff, so you won’t feel constrained. Don’t love the pink? It’s also available in a nice green plaid.
I may be stretching this to call it a lady’s jacket, but it’s cropped and has buttons, and I liked it! The description calls it a cropped blazer, but whatever you call it, I think it would be great to wear to work or play. I love playing with opposites – hard and soft, work and play, structured and less structured. Put this on with a pair of dark wash jeans and some high-heels for an elevated and chic outfit.

Love these styles! I was in TJ Maxx last week and saw several of this exact same style. I came close to getting a white one trimmed with pink stripe and gold buttons. Very classic and classy looking. I’m drawn to anything that I can visualize Jackie O wearing.

I had never heard of lady jackets either, but I should probably give them a try. I’m petite and usually avoid blazers because they are too boxy on me, but sometimes I want something a bit more polished than a cardigan or jean jacket.
There are lots of different styles of these jackets. Some are knit, so they would by lighter weight, and possibly not as boxy.

LOL! I’d never heard of a Lady Jacket but after reading the post, I’m happy to find I have two of these in my closet. They are both old but I loved the “blazer” like look of these collar-less sweaters and kept them. And both are stripped. I guess fashion really does come around again. They just rename it!!!
I wire a cropped jacket once when I was teaching. I turned to the chalkboard (no white boards then), and reached up to start writing. Of course, the jacket went with my arm. So although I like the look, l I know better than to wear anything cropped. I’m always pulling it down, and I don’t want to be fidgeting with my clothes!

I have an ivory with navy stripes tweed crop Loft jacket from several years ago. It qualifies as a lady jacket. I’m glad I have kept it. If I think I paid a lot for an item, I hang on to it. I know the retailers may change the style a bit but not always. This jacket is a good example. I think with lady jackets an older woman had to be careful what she stylesit with to not look frumpy. Styling with jeans looks modern.
The name lady jacket kind of makes me cringe. Lol. I love the look, but the short cut would not work for me. The longer Amazon one you shared is already in my cart, however!
I’ll admit, until the last year or so, if someone mentioned “lady jacket” to me, I wouldn’t have had a clue what they were talking about, but now that I know, I assume everyone knows! I went into my local Loft store (15 minutes before closing), looking for a specific sweater, describing it to the saleslady as looking “like a lady jacket”. She paused for a second with a deer in the headlights look, “A what?” We both walked around the store searching for a red sweater that looked “like a lady jacket”. She had given up hope when I spied a whole rack of them – right in front of the register!

I honestly had no idea what a lady jacket was!! Very stylish, especially for cooler spring days.
These are all great for indoor activities in Florida, as the air conditioning can get a bit too chilly.

I am 5’2″, but I have a health condition which makes my stomach really bloated at times. I wish I had the skinny stomach of those models so the short styles would look cute on me! I prefer the longer styles that hide more. Thanks for the style ideas!

Oh, how I love the white with black trim lady jacket from Amazon! And the price is great- I thought it was a misprint. These lady jackets remind me of the fashion in the 60’s. Jackie Kennedy wore this style and always looked so chic.

Check out the Talbots clearance. There are lots of the “cropped” jackets left. Some are in colors that might could be worn for Easter, depending on your climate, since Easter is in March. I just got this one and can’t wait to wear it.

Although lady jackets are cute, I’m not really a fan if they’re too cropped. They can look great on someone who is short like I am, but I prefer they at least come to the top of my hips.
The great thing about these jackets being cropped is that they make your legs look long.
