EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS BY TRYING SOMETHING NEW

Yesterday, I was in bright and vivid colors! Today, I am in darker shades, which are a new color for me. I have made a vow to try new retailers, new styles, and new color themes this year. Sometimes we get this preconceived notion of how something will look on us, but we never actually try it to see. That might be a personality trait, or it could be a trait that comes with getting older. I know that you’ve all heard the term “set in my ways,” and it is not usually said in a good way.

When someone tells you that you are set in your ways, they mean that you are unwilling to bend, cooperate, or try new things. UGH! I don’t want to be accused of that, especially since I have been trying to convenience the grandkids to try new foods and styles. I can still remember my mother saying, “because I said so,” when I would ask WHY I had to do something that I didn’t want to do. So, now I am telling all of you the same thing…TRY SOMETHING NEW! It can be fashion-related, or it could be something else that you’ve been unwilling to try. When you find yourself balking, hear my voice saying, “BECAUSE I SAID SO,” and you can thank me later. Lol!

Ask me if I like this outfit, and the answer will be YES. Ask me if I wish it were in a different color, and the answer will be OH YES!!! I love this colorblocked turtleneck sweater, but I am not sure the color does anything for my complexion. However, the design is very slimming, so there is a trade-off. Lol!
I am not sure about the color of this sweater. It looks lighter and brighter in my photo than it does in person. Also, in person, I feel like it has a tint of olive to the color, but it looks solid brown in my photos. I am wearing a size large in this top, and it fits very slimming to the body.

I figured that if I was going to try this color, I might as well go all-out. So, I also ordered this faux-suede ruana with the fringe trim. I am telling y’all, this is way more olive than it appears in my photos.

The boho-style wrap is light and creates quite a statement. It would be so cute worn with jeans and the wooden cross that I wore a couple of days ago. The ruana is a one size fits all, so you can’t get the sizing wrong. Lol!

The ankle pants that I am wearing are also in the same color as the ruana; it is called Sergeant. These are the comfort stretch pants from White House Black Market, and they are a best seller for a good reason. They have 360-degree power smoothing technology that holds, lifts, and shapes for a flattering look from every angle.
These pants are a nice weight, but they are unlined. I like the ankle pants’ length, and I think they will be great for wearing this spring. They come in several different colors if Sergeant isn’t the color for you. I am wearing my usual size 10, and they fit me well.

The turtleneck sweater’s pattern and fit reminded me of something that I would have seen on Laugh-In. Does anyone else remember that TV show? Anyway, I decided to wear my white(ish) ankle boots to create that 60s vibe. I love these white boots, but they are pricey. The boots were on sale back a month or so ago, but I will see if I can find some similar ones that aren’t so much.

I added a few pieces of jewelry to my look. The mixed metal multi-chain statement Ryder necklace is one that I LOVE! I wear this necklace all of the time, and I think it really makes an outfit special. I also add a pair of stud earrings. The Tima medallion stud earrings have a Moroccan scroll look that gives them a unique style. They are gorgeous on their own, but they don’t compete for attention.

Quick question…you gurls know that I love my Lash Boost, but I’ve had a company ask me if I want to do a sponsored post with magnetic lashes. Now, you know that I won’t use these lashes on a regular basis since my lashes are already long. But, as much as I would like for all of you to be my Lash Boost customer, that isn’t my reality. So, for those who aren’t my Lash Boost customers, would you like to see a post about magnetic lashes???

I have been really enjoying your posts for maybe a year. I am slow to get into fashion!
A request, if I may, I don’t like nor look good in skinny jeans/pants or those that taper in from the knee, but I like slim jeans. If you could note if they taper in from knee that would be a huge help. The websites don’t mention this and it is hard to tell from photos. In the store, haha can’t remember last time that was!, I fold the hem up to make sure it is as wide as or wider than the knee.
I like the color on you. I’ve been reading your blog for a month or so, but have seen you on Pinterest for a lot longer. I also like the scripture at the end. Good work! Your new house is beautiful!
I posted that I received your daily email, but I did not tell you that I found you from Pam’s site over 60 feeling 40. I have followed her since she started. I just found you a couple of months ago.
Thank Pam for me. She is a sweetheart.
I like the outfit today and would consider buying the sweater if it were a true brown but I can’t wear olive colors. I’ve been on your mailing list and following you since May 2020, when I discovered you on Pinterest. I sure wish I had known about you as soon as you started your blog. Gurl, you could wear a burlap sack and make it look great!!! I always watched Laugh In – it was a great show with lots of laughs.
Lol! A burlap sack. Hahaha. You know that I like things that are soft, so no burlap sacks for me.
Love the outfit. I have long eyelashes but would like to see how the eye lashes work, I heard so much about them.
I’ve heard a lot about them too. I’m not sure about them, but we will see.
This outfit really fits you well. I’m never sure about colors I see on screen, but I think you look marvelous! I found your blog a few months ago and really enoy seeing your picks. It helps me remember that my sixties are more time to explore. Your Sunday posts are an extra devotional that speak to my soul. Stay warm@
Tania, yes I would be very interested in a post about magnetic lashes. They look intriguing to me. I have been reading your posts for several years and love seeing the outfits you put together for inspiration in my own life.
They are intriguing, I will have to do some more research about them.
I am curious if you think more expensive footwear is more comfortable. All of my life I have bought inexpensive shoes and lately I’ve found them so painful to wear. Do you get comfort with higher priced footwear or is it hit and miss in your opinion. I love this slimming outfit on you!
Kathy, I tried on a pair of VERY expensive heels thinking that they would be more comfortable. They weren’t! But, some shoes that are more expensive have better padding, so they are much more comfortable if you wear them all day long. Some brands are well known for their comfort level, so I would start with a few of them.
I have been getting your emails for a couple of months now. I love them! I am not 50 yet but I’m knocking on the door!
Sheryl, I am glad that you are enjoying the posts.
Love the outfit and would love to hear about magnetic lashes and how well they work!
Tracy, I’ll have to do some research, and then I’ll decide whether to do the post or not.
I have been getting your emails for at least 2 years maybe 3. I love your style, your stories, and your lessons on Sundays. I am a lash boost customer but I’d love to see a magnetic lash post! Keep up the good work!!!
Debbie, I worry about the magnetic line you apply, and if the lashes hold well. I’ll have to look into it more.
