DO YOU NEED TO EXERCISE AFTER 50
How many of you saw the title, Do You Need To Exercise After 50, and thought about the word “need?” There is a big difference between need and want. I “need” to exercise, but I don’t “want” to exercise. As we age, our bodies are changing, and not necessarily in a good way. Our knees give us trouble, our backs ache, and don’t get me started about what jumping up and down does to my bladder. Lol!
I hate exercising, I am just not one of those people who like to sweat and hurt. Go figure! BUT, I really hate the flabby arms that wave at people, or those dimples that are anything but cute, on my legs and rear. So Sandy and I decided to start attending a “beginners” exercise class. One of our friend, the energizer bunny, is teaching the class. She is brutal!!! I would hate to see her advanced class.
The reason I mention this, is because I can barely type after tonight’s class. I am exhausted, sleepy, and just plain lazy. So, I am glad that I don’t have very much jewelry on, or a lot of clothing to have to link to. Haha The Merci t-shirt is one of my favorite graphic tees. It fits perfect, without being too tight. Because it is navy, I think it helps me to look thinner, and the color is good for my eyes. Here is where I wore it earlier this year. Which outfit do you like best?

I think this is the first time I have worn flip flops on the blog, in fact I am sure of it. This are a very comfortable pair by Sperry. I like that they have a lot of cushioning in the sole of the foot, unlike the plastic flip flops you see all the time.

I’ve linked to my leather Vera Bradley tote before, so I’ll spare you this time. If you have never seen it before, go under the heading at the top right of the blog, and type in the search box. It will being you to any previous post that talks about Vera. That works for anything, converse shoes, Dooney & Bourke purse, or even hair tutorial. My shorts are a light turquoise/sea foam green. They seem to be a mix of those colors. I like the length, I think they are 6″ inseam. It seems most of the shorts I have found this year are 4″ inseam, and Joe does not seem to be a fan of me wearing those to work. Do you really think those 2 inches are going to make a difference???

My fingers have given out on me; I am going to bed. I am so tired, I may even sleep through the alarm clock. It is a good thing this blog have a timer button I can set. I hope you ladies have a wonderful Tuesday. Leave me some feedback. That is how I know what to talk about.
The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.
This is also something I WANT and NEED: I have added a subscription button to the blog, right under the recent posts tab. I would appreciate it if you would take the time to sign up. You will then be notified by email when a new post is made.

This is how I look everyday of the year! (Except when going out to dinner or what not)I live in St. Petersburg, Fl…….
I discovered your blog a couple of months ago, and really enjoy reading it and seeing your fashion tips. Last fall I discovered water classes. I do H2O Cardio and Pool Tabata 2 to 4 times a week, and LOVE it!! I’m ALMOST down 30 pounds and have never been sore or felt like I was exercising! I feel better than I have in years! It’s actually fun—–and this is coming from someone who has always hated to exercise!
Did you see the Facebook article/post about the woman turning 80, and she lifts weights and looks fabulous?
It really gives me inspiration—just like you do with your clothing!

so yes—we need to exercise,right?
I’m a fan of the Tee with jeans. Very attractive bracelet! I really enjoy your stories, keep sharing please! Makes my day!
Tania, Your skin looks beautiful in the closeup pictures! And your makeup also. Could you possible let us know what your skin care regime is and what you use? And also your makeup routine. You look great in those shorts, and believe me, exercise will pay off with good benefits! Sometimes as we age, we just have to tweak our exercising to compensate for our limitations.
You are the second person to tell me that my skin is looking good. I haven’t changed my makeup, but I have been doing a skin care regime. I have been thinking of doing a video of the process, but of course that means those wonderful pictures of me with no makeup?
Just told my doctor last week “what can I say, I like to eat and hate to exercise”. She laughed. Exercise does not energize me, it’s exhausting but necessary. Really like that shirt, adorable. The whole outfit looks refreshing with just the right amount of accessories. Hope your day is filled with great joy (and energy)!
Thanks Michele. Just last night, as we were leaving the class exhausted, I told one of the girls that I would love this class in about an hour. It would take me that long to recover and forget how much I hurt. Haha
I’m right there with you regarding exercise. I have to do it to keep my weight down and as 60 looms out there in a few years, to stay strong. Just wish I enjoyed it – never have but it’s a necessary evil!
Perhaps something to chat about in the future would be dealing with those miserable hot flashes. Guessing I’m not the only one who can’t make those buggers stop! So, I dress in layers throughout the year, hiding my middle and upper arms as much as possible. Not always an easy thing to do!
Have a great day!
Hot flashes are the worst. In fact, all the symptoms that go along with menopause are just miserable. I don’t think it would be as bad if you had a time frame. If they said you would be having these problems for 3 years, 5 years, or even 10 years, then I could start the countdown. BUT, you just never know, and that is frustrating.
I am reading this as I get ready to go to my 0515 exercise class. I would rather be in bed but I know that as I quickly approach 60 it is really necessary. It will get better I promise 🙂
Celeste, my hat goes off to you. I LOVE my sleep!!! Maybe as I see “results” I will be inspired to do more. You are an inspiration.
I just recently started receiving your blogs however, I’ve read quiet a few for the past little while. I should have subscribed a long time ago 🙂 I look forward to seeing your name pop up in my inbox. I thoroughly enjoy “your style” as I will turn 50 in August. I want to age gracefully and you look great. I also really enjoy your Sunday post as I am a Christian and so glad to see you post about your faith. I like your Merci T-shirt better with the jeans…..however, girl you can rock it with anything. Keep up your inspiring posts, fashion and faith. ~Lisa~
Thanks Lisa! I love hearing from my readers, and especially the new ones. My Sunday posts have quickly turned into my favorite part of the blog. Getting dressed and taking a picture is easy, but writing about faith is challenging for me. I am so glad that you, and others, see my struggle and will pray for me.
I turned 53 last month and suddenly my body was like, okay time to take on those bat wings, spread out the cottage cheese and throw in some hankles. So, I felt better reading your post…..hehe misery likes company. I have two very sick dogs right now (one is actually going to be getting her angel wings very soon) so exercise has been kinda snuffed out of me for now. BUT, aahhh there is always a but, I have been visiting the second hand clothing store in my area and finding lots of beautiful treasures that make me feel very pretty, oh my and the delishes handbags! My fingers tingle just writing that he he. I so enjoy your posts and pinning you on Pinterest
Cheryl, you made me smile, well actually I snickered at the hankles comment. Haha I just used the “misery loves company” comment last week, ain’t it the truth. I am sorry about your dogs, I know how they can be a very important part of the family. Strive hard to be thankful for the time you have had with them, and remember all the fun times.
