Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes
They say the eyes are a mirror to the soul. I don’t know if that’s true, but it’s pretty much what every single person you speak to will be looking at while you talk. I’m always amazed at how many people throw on some mascara and call it a day. Gurls! Take the extra few minutes. Don’t worry I you don’t know what you need. Today I’m sharing everything you need for great looking eyes. 🙂

When it comes to makeup, it doesn’t matter if you wear some, none, or look like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show; we can all agree that we can all use a little “enhancement.” Most of you probably use lipstick occasionally to add color and brighten up your face.
The same is needed for the eyes, especially since they are always on display. They aren’t ever covered, unlike the mouth that was covered when we all wore masks. Below are items that I’ve used over the years or that my friends and family members use and love. I love experimenting with makeup, so what I use can change weekly. Lol!
Be sure to check out the name-brand sellers that I buy from on Amazon. I prefer getting my products there if possible since I’m a Prime member I get free shipping, and the products are here before I can blink an eye. (Get it…eye!)
Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – Concealer
I did an entire post about concealers recently, but I wanted to add one more. This Bye Bye Under Eye is the real deal. It is thicker than others, but don’t let that scare you. Just put a TINY dab on your finger and lightly apply. A little goes a looooonnngggg way. It’s one of my faves. This might not be the one that I use on a daily basis, but believe me; there are times when nothing else will cover the dark shadows!
Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – Eye Shadow
Tarte is one of my go-to eye shadows. I’m a huge fan! This is one that I use all of the time. It has 28 different colors. Some are shimmery, some are matte, but none go into full metallic. These are rosy, plum, and bronze neutrals that look amazing.
This is another great pallet from Tarte with browns and tans. It is my second favorite, and I’ve used it so much that I probably need to order another one. These neutrals are good for just about anyone. I use dark black as a smudged eyeliner. I wear a lot of tan eyeshadows, especially on the brow line as a highlight, but they work especially well for people with brown eyes.
Have you tried eyeshadow sticks? I think cream sticks go on really easily, and they tend to last a long time. These come in 6 to a pack and are waterproof. They are very popular, and have great reviews! I honestly haven’t tried this brand; here are some that I’ve used.
- IT Cosmetics Superhero No-Tug Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick
- By Terry Ombre Blackstar Smudge Proof Cream Eyeshadow, 3 Blond Opal
Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – Mascara
I’ve also done an entire post on mascaras recently. I featured several, but one of my all-time favorites is this one by ILIA. I love that it’s very gentle for my eyes because all of the ingredients are non-toxic, and it removes easily. It also doesn’t bother my contacts. And it gives me nice, thick lashes, which is the whole point, lol. Other favorites are:
- Tarte Maneater Black Full Size Magnetic Volumptuous Mascara
- Urban Decay Perversion Volumizing Mascara
- essence | I Love Extreme Volume Mascara Crazy Volume
Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – Pencils
How can anyone leave the house without eyeliner?! Properly applied eyeliner makes your eyelashes look fuller, and can be used to reshape the eye! Cat’s eye, anyone? This eyeliner is waterproof and comes in several shades. Remember when I mentioned reviews? I also love one by ILIA; it doesn’t tug at all.
This is another option. I know some people don’t like liquid eyeliner, but I love it. Liquid eyeliner is darker than traditional pencil liners, which results in a bolder line. When Taylor Swift sings the lyric that says, “Draw the cat eye sharp enough to kill a man,” she should add, “and use liquid eyeliner to do it!” Lol! I also use Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, which has a fine tip and a finer tip.
Everything You Need for Great Looking Eyes – The Brows
Eyebrows are SO important, yet so many women don’t even bother! Eyebrows can completely change your look. I know that women of a certain age start to lose their eyebrows, so let’s start with this stencil kit. You’ve probably seen these advertised. You put the stencil where you want your brow to be; then you stamp in the color. This takes some trial and error, so don’t freak out. It can be disconcerting to go from no eyebrows to eyebrows. Play with different shades and shapes!
Sometimes you just need a bit of fill and shape. Gurls, when I tell you that this brow pencil is popular, I mean it is POPULAR. This is very skinny to fill in tiny spaces, and it comes in lots of colors, so you should have no issue finding your correct shade.
Finally, once you get your eyebrows done, you’ll want to set them. This is clear, so think of it as hairspray for your brows! Get them in the right shape, set, and go. Everyone knows the CoverGirl brand, so it should surprise you that this is a very affordable!
Comment and let me know if you’re going to start taking more time with your eye makeup!
If you’re interested, here’s a tutorial I did last year. Enjoy!

Have you done a blog on the under eye mask? Too many options to choose from.
I’ve not…maybe I should.
where did you get the cream sweater you have on in this post?
Here is the link, but it is sold out in most of the sizes: https://bit.ly/3ZEA808
Thanks so much for the Amazon Gift Card! Imagine my surprise when I opened up your email to find out I won it this week! Thanks again!
Thank you for the eye tips. I am definitely going to try the IT concealer.
I’ve been looking for a new mascara and brow gel. Can’t wait to try these. ❤️
Eyes are so very important to looking well!
Affordable make up that gives good results! thanks for this.
Thanks for the eye tips!
I do like Tarte and Ilia; neither of them bother my sensitive eyes. My favorite drugstore brand is Milani. They make a lovely palette of matte shadows.
Tania, your eyes always look so beautiful. I neglect my eyebrows too much. I will have to try the pencil and gel. Thanks for all the choices you find for us daily. I don’t know how you do it all.
These prices are great! Okay, you’ve talked me into spending a little more time on my eyes!!
I have essential tremors in my hands so I have had to almost give up doing my eyes and I miss it so much. I try to get at least eyeliner and mascara on!
I’m looking at the brow pencils. Thanks, Tania.
I am reluctant to wear mascara because my eyes are so sensitive, but I am certainly going to try this one! Thank you for making it easy to find products ❤️
I hope that you like it! 😊
That sounds like the perfect weekend!!
Thank you for sharing all the eye makeup ideas. Have the best time with your family!! 😀
I use the Brow Gel and Micro Pencil from Cover Girl,
Thank you for all the great suggestions. I’ve never heard of an eyebrow stencil kit! Gonna have to give that one a try. Have fun with your family.
I am going to try the eyeshadow pencil set. I have never had thick eyebrows so making mine wider, etc., now would be very unnatural. I wear eyeglasses with transition lenses, so where there is bright lights, you don’t really see my eyes that much. I am starting to wear makeup when I have appointments, but since my eyes are very sensitive to all of the makeup removers, no matter how gentle they are, wearing eye makeup daily just isn’t something I should do. Enjoy the family time!
Thank you for this post- it was very timely for me this week! I wanted to work on my eyebrows- good tips on your video. Question for you on under eye concealer- how do you choose the best shade? Go lighter, darker or closest match to cover any darkness? 😁
Tami, I’ve done both ways, but I prefer matching the closest to my skin. Then, if I want, I can add a lighter color under my eyes to brighten up that area.
bye-bye under eye is wonderful! I’ve been using it for a year now; is it the concealer or that all the kids have finally moved out? I’m not telling!
Lol! I would bet it is a whole lot of BOTH!
Great post. Going to have to try some of these products. I never leave the house without mascara or my eyebrows being filled in. I use Anastasia eye brow products. I’m happy with them but doing my brows is the hardest part of my make up routine. What do you think of brow lamination? I was thinking about getting it done.
Nicole, I’ve seen a lot of people getting that done. I haven’t done it yet, but who knows. I would love it if it looked more natural, and less like a tattoo.
Nice prices on sooo many items! Thanks!
Would like to try ILIA mascara but i need a waterproof and quick search didnt turn up one from ILIA
The ILIA one isn’t waterproof, but it is water resistant.
These are great products for the eyes! I do try to play up my eyes to draw attention away from my wrinkles. As I age I try to focus on the prettier parts of the face. I would love to know more about hair styles that are up to date for older women but nothing too short maybe medium length. 😀
Rhoda, my DIL is here this weekend, and she is a hairdresser. I’ll try to get her to give me some suggestions and looks.
I really wish I could wear eyeshadow!!! My eyes are too sensitive… I love how it looks on other ladies! Happy Saturday❤
Awww, I hate that. I love wearing shadow, even if it is just a nude color.
You’ve probably tried so many already but thought I’d mention these two. I am so sensitive to makeup and lotions but I find I can wear Mary Kay and Urban Decay. Urban Decay one that is small set without any glitter shades. I think it’s the mica in those that bother me. I buy it at Ulta so easy to return if allergic. I can use Neutrogena and Almay but can’t tell I have anything on with those.
And no, I don’t sell Mary Kay.
I agree, Tania, highlighting the eyes helps show off their natural beauty. I’ve had so much fun over the last couple of years learning what looks pretty with my hazel eyes, now that I’ve chosen to let my hair go to it’s natural color of … white! (Yikes!) Who knew w he at was under that blonde hair dye?! Not me!! Anyway, I’m having fun learning what goes well with my true coloring now.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Have fun experimenting.
Amen! I’ve gone to my “virgin hair color” – silver! Everything’s new- makeup colors- clothing, etc. I, too, am having fun!
Thanks for this post. I don’t pay attention to my brows, but will check several of these items out. Already got 3 of them in my Amazon cart! Enjoy the weekend with your family!
love these makeup suggestions. …simple and not overdone. I I look forward to your daily posts with my morning coffee.
You have beautiful eyes! I agree makeup can definitely enhance eyes if not overdone. Thanks for sharing these products
That makes me think of Mimi on Drew Carey. Lol!
The IT bye bye under eye is my favorite
tarte is my favorite brand of eyeshadow also. I use a liquid eye liner and love how it enhances my eyes. thanks for this post.
Kellie, Tarte is a great brand, and I’ve liked all the products that I’ve tried from them.
Thank you for sharing all the beauty products. Some I have used and others I want to try. Also, love reading your verse of the day!❤
Dark eye circles are so “square.” 🙄😜🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the recommendation for those, and all the other things, too!
Eyebrows are really important! I’m excited to try some new products!
the eye brow tutorial was great!
Lol! That was forever ago.
Tania,
My sis and I were recently talking about upping our eye makeup routine and stepping out of our box to try some new products. Loved your suggestions..and the prices were great….an Amazon order is in my future. Thanks so much.
Yay! The post is great timing!
Thanks for this information. It was during covid and zoom calls that I realized I needed to define my brows without looking like something from Angry Birds, lol! All your suggestions are very helpful and I will be watching your recommended video.
Lol! That made me laugh.
I started taking more time with my eyes a year ago and wish I’d done so earlier. What kind of eyes brushes do you use?
I use several different ones. I like Sigma, Morphe, and a few from BK Beauty.
Thanks Tania for all the info. I’m always on the hunt for the best concealer as my eyes are probably what age me the most. Have a blessed weekend!
Have a blessed weekend! 😊
Your eyes looks so pretty! No matter what I use or try I end up with a black ring under my eyes. I don’t like waterproof mascara. I’ve tried pencils, shadow etc and nothing seems to help it stay in place. Any suggestions?
Trish, try using eye shadow, instead of a pencil to line your eyes. And, make sure to set any concealer that you use with powder before adding any type of liner.
Have fun with your family. I always make a mess with mascara. I might try the brands you list. Do you have a link for that cute cream sweater you have on.
Happy Saturday!
Linda, here is where I have that linked on my LTK storefront: https://liketk.it/4jIsN
Love these makeup tips! I sruggle with eye pencils smudging and giving me darkness under the eye.
Just now on the eyebrow train-there is a definite learning curve!!
Love love love this post can’t wait to try these products! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for these great suggestions! I’m going to try some of the eye makeup!
Yes, I definitely need to make the time and do my face up right! Checked out several products, thank you.
Excellent information
Want to go out and purchase these products asap !!
Thank you for helping us “more mature ladies” 🤭🤭like myself who will be “The Big 60” on the 8th! You have helped me with makeup and clothes. I’m only 5’6” and really overweight, you’ve made it easier to dress this body that I’m still getting used to😏😜
Connie, welcome to the 60s club! I’m 63, and I’m 5’6″ tall too!
Thank you for the recommendations. I’ve ordered a couple of products you recommended. Can’t wait to try them out
Thank you for the recommendations. I’ve ordered a couple of products you recommended.
I love IT cosmetics! Enjoy your family time! 🍁
Thanks for doing all the research!! You have excellent taste and always include items that are in my budget!! Thanks for all you do.
All great tips!
I have really big eyes, so I don’t dare leave home without “doing them”. If I don’t have on eye makeup, I looked older and more tired than I really am….lol! I like that these have affordable price points. I just don’t see paying $30+ for mascara, etc. like at the department stores, cosmetics departments. Have a great time with your tribe.
Excellent information. Thank you. Enjoy your time with your beautiful family 🌟
that sweater look great–perfect for this transition season
I agree, Peggy. A clothing item I really like appears and the post is all about makeup. Bummer! That sweater looks very expensive.
