I’m a huge fan of J.Jill clothing, especially since they’ve added colorful clothing to their stores. It was always a great place to find basics, but now you can also get the fun items. When I was in Tennessee a couple of weeks ago, I ran into a few stores and did some try-ons for you. Here is part 1 of the latest styles with J.Jill try-on haul.

One look at this outfit, and you can see what I mean by basics and fun items. I’ve combined the two categories and made an outfit that is versatile and also super chic!

This Cotton V-Neck Cardi is a classic piece of clothing that everyone should own. In a capsule wardrobe, this would make the cut. I added a navy and white striped Pima-Stretch Knit Tank to the look. Stripes are having a moment this spring. They are always popular in the fall, but they are shining this spring!

Here is how I would style the cardigan and tank for a classic look. I think they look great with these Wide-Leg Trousers, which remind me of Catherine Hepburn. I would dress the outfit up a bit with a pair of high heels (you know I love my high heels), statement jewelry, and a gorgeous handbag. Wide-leg trousers are a classic style, and I own them in several colors. The praline pants are a pair that could be worn all spring and summer, and into early fall.

Normally, I wouldn’t wear a flowy top with wide-leg pants. However, I thought the colors looked great together, so I decided to give it a try. I didn’t bring a belt with me to the store, so I didn’t tuck in the shirt, but I think it would have dressed up the look that way.

Look how perfectly the floral print matches the pants! This lightweight 100% cotton shirt will be great for spring and summer. It will be cool, but the 3/4 sleeves will add a tiny bit of warmth.

Here is another outfit where the print of the top matches the pants perfectly!

J.Jill carries many tunic-length tops, which are perfect for pairing with leggings and showing your rear. This Piped Paisley Tunic is a little heavier than some of the tops, making it perfect for transitioning into spring. The color combination is unusual, and I love how they added a light olive green, blush pink, and a deep blue together.

These Cargo Slim-Leg Pants are as close as I’ve come to wearing skinny jeans in a long time. They fit great around the hips and waist, but were pretty tight around the calves. I love the cargo pocket on the pants. I’ve been looking for a pair of cargo pants where the pockets aren’t oversized and bulky.

This outfit was one of my favorites from the try on session. I love casual clothing that still look like you put some effort into your look. The silky printed top and cuffed jeans pull off the elevated casual style that I like. You can see more of this top in the Latest Styles With J.Jill – Pt. 2. I styled these jeans in three ways, you can see that post here.

Are you a fan of button fly jeans? I’m still on the fence with them. I think they look great, but I don’t like having to fiddle with all the buttons. Lol! These High-Rise Button-Fly Jeans are a good length that will showcase your shoes. The jeans look great dressed up or down, and can be worn with heels, sneakers, or loafers.

I love the colors in the Dahlia Tweed Jacket. It is so pretty and springy looking, and I love the color combination of pink and orange. I wore a rose colored Pima-Stretch Knit Tank under it to bring out the pink in the jacket. I tried the medium and the small, and the small ended up fitting me better.

I love tanks since they can be worn all year round. You can wear them under jackets, blazers, and sweaters, and they make a fantasic layering piece.

I threw on the Open-Knit Shrug over it to cover my arms and add warmth. The store only had the XL/3X size in stock, but the S/L one would have been perfect for me. I love the nubby open knit that adds a lot of texture and visual interest.

The burbank wash of the Barely Flare Jeans looks like a pair of jeans that you’ve worn for years, and that is kind of the point. Medium wash jeans are a safe look and what I normally wear, but in the spring and summer, I add light wash jeans to my wardrobe. I love the way these fit, and they are also available in white.

I hope you liked Pt. 1 of my latest styles with J.Jill try-on haul. Be sure to check out Pt. 2 for more gorgeous styles from J.Jill.

73 isn’t old either! As a 20+ year fan of JJill, their clothes are current, yet timeless. I’m wearing pieces from 20 years ago, still. I enjoyed seeing your fashion mixes! It’s inspired me to go see what’s new for spring! Cheers!!
