50 Is Not Old | DreamsI was skimming through a new book that just came in, and the author was talking about dreams and plans. There are some people who make plans and meticulously put those plans into action. And then there are some who just seem to go wherever the current takes them. In reading the dreams of the author, I caught myself thinking that I was over 50 and I was just too old for making new plans. WHAT!!! Did I even read my mantra? Age is an attitude, Keeps your young!50 Is Not Old | DreamsOkay then, after telling myself to stop being ridiculous, I started thinking more about dreams. I am a pretty simple person, I don’t really want for a lot of things. I have a nice car, a nice house, and as you all know, I have plenty of clothing. Traveling has never really been my “thing.”50 Is Not Old | Dreams

But what if you COULD go and do, what if you could have anything you wanted? Am I really that simple, or have I just started settling? I have never made a bucket list, I never liked that name. But, I could make a few suggestions for a “Dreams Really Do Come True” list.

  1. Visit New York City
  2. See the Aurora Borealis
  3. Appear in a magazine advertisement
  4. Own a pair of Charles Louboutin
  5. Celebrate my 50th wedding anniversary50 Is Not Old | Dreams

These are just a few things that come to mind to give you an idea of what I am talking about. I read about this person who for their job, had to change their password every 60 days. It was a real pain to try to remember the new password, and she was fussing about it one day. She decided to do an experiment the next time. Newly divorced and still bitter, she wanted to let go of the bitterness. So her first 60 days password was “forgivejohn.” She said after having to type to forgive her ex-husband for 60 days, she actually did forgive him. So they next time she changed her password to “goonacruise” She typed “go on a cruise” for 60 days and she started making the plans, and went on the cruise. I think you can see where this is heading. She took a pain-in-her-side problem, and instead made it a life-changing experiment.50 Is Not Old | DreamsI picked a strange topic to talk about with this outfit. Even though I paired the grays with yellow, the whole look of the outfit is still a little dark and gloomy. Maybe that I why I chose and uplifting topic. Or maybe what I was really wanting to change was this outfit. Haha Anyway, I will start with the positives. I love these yellow espadrilles by Michael Kors. I wore them in this post, which is one of my very favorite looks.

Espadrilles: Vince Camuto | Charles David | Nine West50 Is Not Old | DreamsMy yellow, white, and gray tie blouse is an old one. I don’t wear it real often, I prefer an open neck look. The tie makes me think of a business suit for some reason. I think this look would work in most office settings, you could wear long pants if your office does not allow ankle pants. These are black pixies from Old Navy. I am just shocked at how many of you had never shopped at Old Navy. They have a wide array of clothing and it is very reasonably priced. It is the less expensive and less quality version of Banana Republic.

Yellow & Gray Blouse: Floral | Tunic | Blouson
Black Ankle Pants: Old Navy (ankle) | Old Navy (long) | Old Navy (Plus)50 Is Not Old | DreamsThis charcoal gray jacket has 3/4 ruched sleeves. It is several years old, but I still like the way it looks and feels. It must be something about this jacket, the last time I wore this I talked about dreams also.

Jacket: Similar | Similar (Up to a 4X)50 Is Not Old | DreamsI know several things I would put on my “Never Gonna Happen” list.

  1. Skydive
  2. Dive with the sharks
  3. Sing in a Broadway Show
  4. Climb Mt. Everest
  5. Hold a Tarantula

Of course, I never thought I would have a blog and wonderful readers either. And, my sister probably never thought she would be a published author. Dream, plan, and remember that “age is an attitude.” What are some of your Dreams Really Do Come True items?

  1. I love reading your posts .. But today was just the kick in the butt I needed ! Thank you for helping me get back on a positive track ?

    1. I am sitting here laughing, trying to envision me kicking you in the butt. Hahaha

  2. I think this would be a perfect workplace outfit. You have such a knack for pulling all the pieces together and coming up with a great look. Yes, I think whatever we focus our attention on (good or bad) can come true, whether you call it dreams, prayer, the power positive thinking, manifestation or whatever, so it’s important to focus on the good in life. 🙂

You are the start of my every day! Thank you for your thoughtful posts. Today’s outfit looked very pulled together. Typically I dress rather boho, with a classical twist. People compliment that I’m not afraid of color, and warm, earthy tones suit me. That being said, the goldenrod in your blouse and shoes are awesome.

I turn 60 in July!? I feel like I’ve got a good 40 years in me.?

  4. Great look! I like the tie top on you. Looks classy. I have dived with sharks……neat story. I was a little scared, but it was an amazing experience. Love your blog!

    1. Lori, it sounds like you and my daughter would get along fine. She LOVES sharks!!!

  5. Absolutely awesome post! I love your thinking and the outfit. Now I’m off to change a password. 🙂

  6. Thank you for sharing. I thought I was the only one that has never made a bucket list. I still need to get to Old Navy and check out there pant section. I always thought Old Navy was more for younger people. I remember the first time my girls and I went to an Old Navy store. We were visiting relatives in California. (The year was 1999) The girls went nuts over all the fleece. Did not think we were going to be able to fit everything we bought in our luggage for the flight home. Have a great day!

    1. Crystal, this made me laugh. I have had my fair share of those kind of shopping trips.

  7. I love your outfit! Thank you for your daily inspiration!

  8. Thank you for Today’s blog topic. Inspired me to begin developing my own list. It was just what I needed to start my day on a positive note.

  9. I love the color combo and the shoes. I dream of living in a small cottage with a water view. And chickens. I love chickens.
I have held a tarantula. Her name was Susie. ?

    1. My brother had a tarantula, but there was no way I would have gotten anywhere near that thing. I am terrified of spiders, even the small ones. Haha
