THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

50 IS NOT OLD | THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMASIt’s the day before the night before Christmas, and I am busy, busy, busy being good. That is the words to one of my very favorite Christmas songs. Most people would say White Christmas, Silent Night, or even Jingle Bells, but not me. As a child, my sister and I listened to one album over and over and over. I can still sing you every song that was on that album.50 IS NOT OLD | THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS364 days in the year they fuss and feud and fight, 364 days in the year who cares who’s wrong or right. 364 days in the year morning, noon, and night. And then suddenly a change, a very big change, and everything seems alright. I guess it kind of loses something in the translation. But in my mind, I can hear them singing the words. It was an album by the Caroleers. Did anyone else listen to this as a child?
50 IS NOT OLD | THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMASIt is Christmas Eve and I am sure some of you are frantically shopping, cooking, or wrapping presents. I am just chilling here, sitting by the fire and watching the twinkling of the Christmas lights on the tree. NOT!!! I am the one shopping, cooking, and wrapping, Hahaha! Let’s make this a short post, so here we go. The turtleneck sweater poncho is the star of this show. I just had to have it when I saw it. I have kind of steered away from ponchos this year, but there was just something about this one that I really liked. It is plush and I love the pop of red running through it. There wasn’t a tag of any kind inside the poncho so I have no idea what the brand was. I bought it at the boutique in town.

50 IS NOT OLD | THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMASI layered two necklaces together for this effect. The short one is called the Isabelle and if you look at the picture on the Plunder website you will notice that it had a piece of lace tied to the necklace. I didn’t want the lace so I took it off. The longer necklace is called the Tabitha. I like the versatility of this necklace. You can wear it short or long like I have here.  50 IS NOT OLD | THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS I love these silver bangles which is funny because I was not crazy about the gold version. These have “I Choose Happy” and “Blessed” inscribed on them. I could wear both of these every single day just for the sayings.50 IS NOT OLD | THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMASThe two black bracelets are my By The Book bracelets. I have on Proverbs 3:5 and John 3:16 today. I have worn these bracelets several times and I love the gentle reminders they provide. Two of my other favorites are Philippians 4:13 and Jeremiah 29:11. I need to order me another Jeremiah one, I gave mine away when I went to Las Vegas to someone who needed it worse than I did at that time.
50 IS NOT OLD | THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMASMy Old Navy red pixie pants just matched the red in the poncho. The Tignanello suede purse also matched perfectly because of the red inserts on the side. I never zip these closed but you could. I have searched all around and this is one of the only ones I have found. Someone is selling the purse on Poshmark.50 IS NOT OLD | THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMASMy black boots are a pair that I bought on clearance at Belk this spring. They are a pair by Bandolino. I didn’t really “love” this pair when I bought them but I keep going back to them all the time. That just goes to show you what I know. Hahaha

50 IS NOT OLD | THE DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMASI was truly humbled yesterday at everyone comments. I can’t believe that I have made a difference in your lives. I read some of the comments to Joe and he was blown away. I can honestly say that you have made a difference in my life. I can have something happen to me during the day and I start thinking about what I am going to say on the blog. Take yesterday morning for instance. I got up early because I was going to start cooking for the dinner we were having at work. I got out all the ingredients and found out that I have left off a few things when I went to the store the night before. I needed to go get a couple items but Joe was still in bed and I didn’t want to wake him up. Finally, I decided to go in the utility room and get dressed from the clothing that was in there. Great, except for 1 item that I was missing, a bra. I put on a denim shirt and pulled on a sweatshirt and a pair of jeans. I had no makeup on and I ran my fingers through my hair and went out the door. I kept thinking to myself, if the gurls could see me know. Lol!!!!

Hi…Love, love, love your posts! You are such an inspiration to me. I’m a misfit when it comes to girly things (hair, jewerly, fashion, beauty…). I wear a uniform to work so I live in sweats, sweat suits, crocs & converse on my days off. You have opened my eyes to so many things. I still have a long ways to go but I’m now seeing things differently & in a new light. Shopping my full closet in ways that I’ve never done before. My husband told me the other day that I looked nice (I wasn’t wearing sweats). It felt GOOD! Who knew there was a light @ the end of the tunnel for this 53 year old!! Lol! So THANK YOU!! May you have a wonderful Christmas with your sweet family. Much love & hugs to you! You are awesome! Can’t wait for 2017 posts! ?
