Gurls, I stopped by Chico’s recently to see what was new for fall, and apparently, brown had taken over the store while I wasn’t looking. Lol. Chocolate brown, camel, burgundy, paisley, dark denim…it was all there.

That actually worked out well for me because these are the kinds of colors and pieces I can see wearing over and over this fall. I wasn’t looking for anything overly trendy or something I would wear once and forget about. I wanted pieces that could mix into a wardrobe I already own and give it a fresh update.

I’ve talked quite a bit about Chico’s sizing and fit in my Chico’s clothing review for women over 50, so I’m not going to repeat all of that here. This post is really about the new fall pieces I tried on, how they fit me, and which ones I think would be easiest to wear in real life.

A quick note about my videos: I filmed a short video of each outfit so you can see how the pieces actually move and fit from different angles. Chico’s was busy while I was doing my try-on, so I skipped the play-by-play commentary. You’ll get all of my fit notes here instead, without having to listen to the entire dressing room in the background. Lol.

A Camel Sweater With Just Enough Sparkle

The Sequined Cape Sleeve Pullover caught my eye because it gives you a little sparkle without looking like you’re headed to a holiday party at 10:00 in the morning. Lol. Most of the shimmer is concentrated around the neckline, so it adds some interest near the face while the rest of the sweater stays simple.

The cape-style sleeves give it a relaxed shape, and I like the wider band at the bottom because it helps give the sweater some structure. I wore a size 1, and I thought the fit was comfortable without swallowing me up.

I first tried it with the Faux Suede Juliet Slim Ankle Pants. These are a rich chocolate brown, and the faux-suede texture makes them feel a little dressier than an everyday pull-on pant.

I wore a size 1 in the pants, and they were a little baggy on me. I would want a closer fit through the leg if I were bringing them home, so that is something I would keep in mind when choosing a size.

The camel and chocolate combination is very fall-looking without requiring much effort. If you like the brown trend but don’t necessarily want dark brown right next to your face, pairing brown pants with a lighter camel top is an easy way to wear it.

The Same Sweater With Animal Print Pants

Then I kept the same sweater on and changed into the Animal Print Coated Girlfriend Slim Ankle Jeans.

This completely changed the outfit. Instead of looking soft and monochromatic, the animal print gave it more personality while staying in the same brown-and-black color family. The print is busy enough to be interesting, but because the colors are tonal, it doesn’t feel like the pants are walking into the room five minutes before you do. 😂

I wore a size 1 in these as well. The slim ankle shape works nicely with the fuller cape sleeve because the outfit has some balance. I also like that you could easily wear these with a black sweater, ivory shirt, denim jacket, or a simple solid tee and let the pants do the work.

Brown is one of the bigger color stories for fall 2026, but you don’t have to build an entirely new wardrobe around it. I recently shared more ideas in my post on fall 2026 fashion trends that are actually wearable, including ways to mix brown with colors you may already own.

Burgundy Jeans With a Paisley No-Iron Shirt

Now we’re getting into some serious fall color. The Paisley No Iron™ Stretch Shirt has shades of cream, camel, burgundy, blue, and olive all mixed together. That makes it one of those tops that gives you plenty of options when you’re deciding what to wear on the bottom.

I paired it with the Girlfriend Slim Ankle Jeans in burgundy. I wore a size 1 in both pieces, and I liked the proportions together. The shirt has enough length to wear untucked, which I know many of you prefer, but it still follows the body enough that it doesn’t look oversized.

One thing I especially like about this shirt is that it can do more than one job. Wear it with burgundy jeans like I did here, or pull out one of the other colors in the print and pair it with denim, cream, olive, or chocolate brown.

And yes, the words No Iron get my attention every single time. I have better things to do than stand over an ironing board.

A Long Black Vest With Dark-Wash Jeans

This might be the most classic outfit of the entire try-on.

I layered the Faux Suede Ponte Long Vest over the No-Iron™ Stretch Shirt and paired them with the High-Rise Wide-Leg Trouser Jeans.

The long vest adds a strong vertical line down the front of the outfit, while the white shirt keeps everything from becoming too dark. I wore a size 1 in both the vest and shirt, but both felt a little too fitted for the way I like to wear them. The shirt is a slim fit, and I would have preferred a size 1.5 for a little more room. I also think I would have liked the vest in a larger size, especially for layering over a button-down.

The jeans are a size 8 and have a wide-leg trouser shape, which gives them a dressier look than a traditional five-pocket jean. And apparently, I liked them more than I planned to because even though I still have 45 pairs of jeans in my closet, these somehow sneaked into my car. Lol. That should probably tell you everything you need to know.

A Printed Shirtdress That Does Most of the Styling for You

I saved the Crinkle Chiffon Godet Printed Shirtdress for last because this is the piece that does almost all of the styling for you.

The print mixes paisley, animal print, black, camel, rust, and cream, so it already has plenty going on. I wouldn’t add much beyond simple jewelry and shoes.

I wore a size 1.5, and the self-tie belt lets you adjust the waist instead of relying on the dress to magically hit every woman in exactly the right place. The longer length also gives it a graceful look without feeling overly formal.

This would be pretty for church, dinner, a fall event, or even Thanksgiving if your family dresses up more than mine does. Mine would probably notice the dress for three seconds and then ask when we’re eating. Lol.

Accessories I Wore With These Chico’s Fall Outfits

I know I’m going to get questions about the jewelry, so I’m putting everything in one place. I wore the same mix of gold bracelets with most of these looks, including the Cleopatra Oval Hinged Bangle, Panther Cuff, Caviar Bubbly Cuff Bracelet, and Embrace Caviar Versa Bypass Bracelet. I like stacking bracelets because they add some interest without competing with the clothing, especially when the outfit already has a print.

I also wore the Ava Necklace, a new piece from Miranda Frye, with several of the outfits and the Jumbo Diamond Huggies (I wear daily) with the long vest and shirtdress looks. These are the kinds of accessories I reach for because they work with a lot of different outfits instead of feeling tied to one specific look.

The Vionic Ankle Straps Heeled Sandals were the real workhorses of this try-on. I wore the same pair with every outfit, and more importantly, I wore them all day long. They have a block heel, so they give me a little height without feeling wobbly, and I found them comfortable enough that I never felt the need to change shoes. That says a lot because if my feet start complaining, I am not suffering for fashion. Lol.

They also worked with everything from slim ankle pants to wide-leg jeans and the printed shirtdress, which is exactly what I want from a neutral shoe. One comfortable pair that works with several outfits is much more useful to me than a closet full of shoes I only wear once in a blue moon.

What I Noticed About Chico’s Fall Collection

The biggest takeaway from this try-on was how easy the colors worked together. Brown, camel, burgundy, dark denim, cream, and black showed up repeatedly, which means you could buy one or two new pieces and probably wear them with several things already in your closet.

That is always more appealing to me than buying an entire outfit that only works one way. If I’m adding something new, I want to immediately think of several ways I could wear it.

I also liked the mix of classic pieces and more interesting ones. The white shirt, dark jeans, and long vest are pieces that can stay in your wardrobe for years, while the animal print pants or printed shirtdress add a little more personality.

You don’t have to choose one camp or the other. A closet full of classics can get boring, and a closet full of statement pieces can make getting dressed exhausting. A little of both usually works a whole lot better.

Which of these Chico’s fall outfits would you wear first? I’m curious if you’re leaning toward the brown pieces, the paisley, or that long black vest.
