I decided to run into Chico’s on the way to my parents’ house, and you already know how this will go. One minute I’m browsing, and the next I’m in the dressing room with an armful of clothes. Lol!

What I Wore to the Store (Because Comfort Matters Too)

Before we get into the try-on, let’s talk about what I wore walking into Chico’s.

I wore my Leopard Print Caftan with my NAOT Sandals, and let me tell you… this outfit sparked a conversation. My daughter questioned whether I should be wearing it out of the house, but I stood my ground.

It was comfortable for the drive, easy to slip on and off in the dressing room, and honestly, that alone made the whole try-on experience better. At this stage, if something isn’t easy, I’m already halfway out the door.

Why Chico’s Still Works After 50

There’s a reason Chico’s has stuck around for so long.

Their clothing is designed with real women in mind. Not just how something looks on a hanger, but how it fits through the shoulders, the midsection, and yes… the upper arms.

Plus, they carry misses, petite, tall, and plus sizes, which makes a huge difference. Instead of “making do,” you can actually find something that fits your proportions.

And when something fits right, everything else falls into place.

An Easy Everyday Outfit That Doesn’t Feel Frumpy

I’m starting this post with a home run. I love this outfit, and it is one that can be worn anywhere that doesn’t require you to be “dressed up.”

The Pull-On Straight Jeans fit perfectly, and I love the ankle length that still allows my  NAOT Sandals to show. They are easier to wear since there are no buttons digging in when you sit, and no adjusting every five minutes. They smooth everything out through the midsection without feeling tight, which is something I know a lot of us are looking for.

I loved this navy Short-Sleeve Floral Sweater, and it even came home with me. It is very soft and comfortable, and adds interest without being loud. Plus, the sleeve length gives just enough coverage for anyone who prefers not to have everything on display.

When You Want to Look a Little More Polished (Without Sacrificing Comfort)

Paired with the same sweater, this outfit easily transitions into something you could wear to a luncheon, casual meeting, or even church.

The linen ankle pants are relaxed without looking sloppy. They skim the body instead of clinging, which is great if you’re trying to avoid drawing attention to the tummy area.

A Simple Tee That Covers the Arms but Looks Elevated

Black and brown is one of my favorite color combinations. One day, I noticed that my Yorkie was black and brown. That is when the light bulb went off, and I started looking for color combinations in nature.

The Straight-Leg Trousers are a little dressier than the pull-on pants above and create a clean, elongated line down the legs.

Let’s talk about sleeves for a minute, because I hear about this all the time. This Lace Crochet Sleeve Tee is a great example of how to get coverage without looking heavy or dated. The lace detail softens the look and draws the eye upward, instead of focusing on the arms.

A Dress That Defines Your Shape Without Clinging

I know sleeveless can be a sticking point for a lot of women.

But here’s what I liked about this dress. The surplice neckline draws the eye inward and creates shape at the waist, helping define your figure without feeling tight or restrictive.

That said, this one ran a little small on me, so I would size up for a more comfortable fit.

This Sleeveless Surplice Linen Dress is so sharp!!! I love the white piping detail that creates visual interest. If you’re someone who prefers more arm coverage, this is an easy one to pair with a lightweight layer.

A Casual Dress That Doesn’t Make You Look Boxy

Shirtdresses can go one of two ways. Either they look polished and relaxed… or they make you feel like you’re wearing a sack.

This Linen-Cotton Striped Shirtdress does it right.

The mix of stripe directions adds interest and breaks up the body visually, which helps avoid that boxy look. It’s loose without overwhelming your shape, and it’s the kind of dress you can throw on and go.

One More Thing

After trying all of this on, I was reminded why Chico’s continues to be one of those brands women come back to again and again. The pieces aren’t fussy, they’re comfortable without looking sloppy, and they’re designed in a way that just makes getting dressed easier.

Joe always says he can tell when I feel good in what I’m wearing, and honestly, that’s the whole goal. I’m not chasing trends or trying to look 30 again. I just want to find clothes that fit well, feel good, and make me feel pulled together when I walk out the door.

If you’ve been on the fence about Chico’s, or you haven’t walked in one in a while, this might be your sign to give it another look. I’d love to hear from you. Do you shop there, or is it one of those stores you forgot about?
