Y’all, I will not let COVID keep me from celebrating Valentine’s Day with my hubby. It has already robbed me of so many tiny celebrations, and I am refusing to let Valentine’s Day go without a fight. I realize that my celebration might not be splashy or include a weekend trip away, but that doesn’t mean that a celebration can’t happen. So, here is my plan…

Joe and I have been married for 34 years, so the days of candlelight dinners are long behind us. But, I’ve been swamped the past couple of months, so I want to makeover him just a little. I ordered him in a pair of UGG slippers, I have him a box of chocolates, and I am going to fix a Prime Rib dinner that he loves. Even though I haven’t had anything other than water and black coffee since January 1st, I might break down and have a glass of wine over dinner so that we can make a toast.

I will be the first to put my hand up in the air to confess that I put Joe on the back burner way too often. I know that I like to be made to feel special, and I bet he would like that also. Do you gurls have any additional suggestions? What do you do to make your husband feel appreciated?

When I purchased this gorgeous cranberry v-neck top, I had no idea how flattering the top would be. The color is beautiful, although it is a deeper shade of red than it appears in these photos. The color on the website is an accurate representation of the color.

The elastic at the waist creates this marvelous blouson effect, and I think this look is very flattering. It appears that I have tucked the top inside the jeans, but you don’t have to mess with trying to get the right effect. I am wearing a medium in this cranberry top, and I think that it fits me perfectly. The v-neck is not too low, the sleeves are long enough, I have plenty of room through the body, and the top is not too short. I give this top an A+!

The top is fine to wear alone with the jeans, but I wanted to show you how to dress the look up also. This navy double-breasted jacket with the large gold buttons is one that I’ve had for a bit. I would never wear this jacket buttoned, I prefer it to hang loose, but I thought you might want to see how it would look buttoned.

I love the material’s thickness, and I think that the blazer is very chic, very classic, very polished, and very flattering. The blazer is a size 12, and I love the way that it fits. The jacket is limited in size, but the good news is, if your size is available, then the jacket is 50% off once you add it to your cart.

I know how much you enjoy seeing the view from the back, so here you go. The color variations of the jeans are interesting, and I love how it looks worn in the seat.

You either love them, or you hate them. These high-rise cuffed jeans look amazing, at least they do to me! I have always loved a large cuff on a pair of jeans, so this look is right up my alley. Since this was the first time I had ordered jeans from J.Jill, I ordered my usual size. I feel like these fit me like boyfriend jeans, and I think that I will order in the next size smaller to see which fit I like best.

I had to add a Valentine’s looking scarf and my gorgeous bright red pumps to complete my look. The silk heart-print square scarf is FABULOUS Dah-ling! This is such a cute scarf, and I think it will be something that I will use a lot this spring and summer. I will wear scarves around my neck, in my hair, with blazers, and tied on a handbag.

My bright red pumps are a pair that I’ve had for years, and I still wear them all of the time. That is the great thing about classic clothing and shoes; you can wear them for years, so you get your money’s worth from them. I will invest a little more in a classic item for that reason.

My heart hoop earrings and small druzy heart necklace are perfect for any time of the year, especially during Valentine’s Day. I love celebrating Valentine’s Day, even if it is just wearing a casual outfit.

I hope that I make my husband feel special in that I love to cook and bake for him. I look for new recipes as well as making those I know he loves. I also show him by appreciating all he does for me, our daughter/son in law, and grandson, our dogs, and getting our house ready to sell. That is all his work on the house. He is also dealing with the building of our new house since he is an experienced contractor, although he is not building our new house. I think it is the little things daily that show him how special he is to me.

  2. How about breakfast in bed, arrange to have his car detailed at a car wash, a gift card for car washes, a gift card for a massage, order a favorite meal from a restaurant, have a star named after him.

  3. You look fabulous. Enjoy your time together!

    1. Penny Jo, I think that men like to be pampered and made over just like us women. I put him on the back burner way too often.
