CAN YOU WEAR WHITE BEFORE MEMORIAL DAY
It was so pretty over the weekend. The sun was shining and it “looked” warm outside. The temperatures were in the 30’s so looking warm was all it was. I must be getting in the Spring Cleaning frame of mind because I spent the entire day on Saturday working. When I say that this is not normal, I am not exaggerating. I think this was all spurred on by my desire to fix me a studio where I can take pictures and get off of my front porch. Here is what I have in mind…….
I would love to be able to go “on location” to take photos but that just isn’t realistic for me. One, I have a job that I have to be at so I can’t go off daily to take pictures. I would have to take several outfits and change into them and then take pictures all at once. Nope, wouldn’t work because I tweak an outfit several times before I take a picture. What I think will look good and what actually does is usually different things. Lol! Second, because I use a timer and a tripod it makes it harder to focus on a spot without me being blurry once I get in the picture. Anyway, I have decided to make a small studio in a room of the house that we don’t use….the exercise room. Hahaha! I need to order in some backdrops, some lighting, and some accessories. I am excited at the possibility but I am worried about the execution. I am not great at follow through. ?
I wish you could see this top in person. The stripes are silver metallic threads so they have a small touch of sparkle as you move. I love this, talk about a unique detail!!! The ruched sleeves are really cool also because they have the large bell and a small dainty tie on them. The top is 95% cotton so it will be cool enough to wear as the days get warmer but the sleeves are perfect for right now. This was a top that was in my latest shipment from the Trunk Club. This comes in several colors and I ended up exchanging this for a light blue version. I love classic black and white together but I look better in blues.
When I wear classic black and white I tend to pick out pearls for my accessories. Pearls are a classic also but this jewelry set is also trendy. The Rosemary necklace is such a statement piece of jewelry. The different floral designs using seed pearls are beautiful. The matching Lorelei earrings have a 2.25″ drop and the same floral design as the necklace.
Black pumps!!! I really don’t need to say much more than that. These are classic and you can wear them with almost anything. If you do not already own a pair then I highly suggest that you go shopping. I will link a few pairs but you can always go to a store near you and try them on. Buy a “good” pair since they are classic and won’t go out of style you will be able to wear them for years. This pair is by Coach. I think this is my first pair of Coach shoes and I love them.
I know a lot of people are still stuck on the don’t wear white after Labor Day and not before Memorial Day but did you know why this was ever a rule? The reason is all about snobbery. It was a way that the women with “old” money could distinguish between them and the “new” money people. It didn’t matter how much money you had, you had to dress by “their” standards or they would simply look down their noses at you. So, there was nothing practical about the rule, nothing really fashion orientated about the rule, it was just a way to distinguish the social classes. WHAT??? So, throw that old antiquated rule out the window and feel free to break out those white pants. If anyone mentions the “rule” to you then you can inform them how they are WRONG in their thinking. This is 2018, not the 1890’s.

I’ve already been wearing white jeans. Especially when the weather is so nice here in the south. I am most interested in your comments about the AMP roller. I’ve seen a difference in my skin texture from using it them following with the Active Hydration Serum. I really like those 2 products. Probably my favs!
Hi. It was drilled into my head from young age that you never wear white before Memorial Day & after Labor Day so it’s still hard for me to do. However, I’ve never known exactly why. Thanks for that tidbit of info. I’m going to tell my Mom. I’ve been wanting some white jeans but was going to wait until ” it was appropriate ” but now I think I’ll try some a little early this year.

Hahaha, Kim. As a blogger, it is a tightrope we walk. If I style from older clothing them someone will comment that they want to be able to buy the clothing and prefer me to style newer clothing. The same holds true when I shop at local boutiques and I can’t find the exact item. I try to shop from all of the different arenas the best that I can. Trunk Club makes it easier for me since I am at least 2 hours away from any shopping mall.
