Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a neutral cable knit cardigan in tan and jeans For all of my ladies who love soft and cozy clothing items, you are going to love this post. It shows you how easily a neutral can be the star of an outfit. But, before I dive right into talking about my outfit, I wanted to ask how your 2020 is going? You gurls listen to me talk all the time about me, but I rarely get a glimpse into your lives. Are you a cat person or a dog person, a mom or a grandmom, exercise regularly, or think that collecting videotapes about exercising counts? That last ones is for me. Lol!
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a neutral cable knit cardigan in tan, jeans, an animal print boots For the record, I am “trying” to eat better in 2020, but I am still a work in progress. I have cut out meat for January, and I am not eating sugary snacks or desserts. I have also cut out caffeine for the most part, but it is sometimes in products that you wouldn’t even think about. Exercising is almost non-existent, so that is something that I am going to have to work on for next month. I need to get more organized with my time, and stick to the plan, instead of getting sucked into other non-productive areas. It is funny how we know what to do, but we don’t do what we should do. I have the best of intentions, but my follow-through is lacking. A habit is hard to establish, but hopefully, walking daily is one that I will be able to adopt soon. What are you working on for 2020 in your life?
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a neutral cable knit cardigan in tan and a white turtleneck sweater This cozy cardigan by Rachel Parcell is soooo soft. I am relatively tall, so I love the longer length cardigans. However, if you are not sure if a longer cardigan works for you, then I suggest that you try several different lengths and take pictures of you in them. Pictures tell a story that the mirror can’t. Also, wearing tighter fitting clothing under the cardigan will help to eliminate bulk and keep you from looking larger than you are. I will size down in cardigans to keep them closer to my body, or I tie the sash in the back to have them appear smaller. (I have done that with this cardigan) I am wearing a medium in this cardigan, but I probably need a small. Here is the link to the cardigan. Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is showing a neutral cable knit cardigan in tan I thought that you might like a close-up of this gorgeous cable-knit design. Also, I forgot to mention that the cardigan does come in a pink color, which is trending for this year. I adore this neutral color, but it might not be for everybody. Also, this sweater is hand washable and lay flat to dry. And, the biggest thing that you need to know is that it is on sale for 40% off!
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a neutral cable knit cardigan in tan and showing gold jewelry The Vienna necklace (or bridle bit necklace) is a go-to one for me. I like the simple design, the lack of color, and the fact that it reminds me of a Ralph Lauren jewelry piece. The necklace is a longer piece at 38″ long. The gold hoops are the Dallin earrings, and they are also a go-to for me. These earrings are only 12.00, so they are very affordable. My most recent go-to for gold hoops have been a pair from Kendra Scott. They are more expensive, but they are also more sturdy. Here is the link to those if you are interested in them.

My bracelets are the Lelani (chain links) and the Lucille. (marbled circles) I love how these two bracelets can be worn alone or together for an elegant look. Both of these bracelets are on an elastic cord, so they are simple to put on and take off.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing jeans, and animal print boots This pair of jeans is a pair that you will want to look at closely. They are called the Tess, and they are a high waisted crop skinny jeans by Mavi. I had never tried that brand before, but the 40% off sale tempted me to give them a shot. You will see me wearing this a lot in the future, especially with spring coming soon. They fit me like a dream; I am wearing my usual size 10, which converts to a size 30. I am making an effort to buy clothing that will work for now as well as spring so that I can extend my amount of time that I can wear them. Here is the link to the jeans, which are machine wash and lay flat to dry.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing animal print boots Speaking of one of my favorite items, you can count these animal print booties on the list. I can’t stop wearing these pointy toe ankle boots, and you won’t be able to either. They are stylish, sophisticated, a neutral item, and they make anything that you wear them with look so much better. The heel is 3″ tall, but I find them to be very comfortable. I am wearing my usual size 9, so I think that these do run true to size. Here is the link if you want to walk on the wild side. (Think about Valentine’s Day)
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a neutral cable knit cardigan in tan, jeans, and animal print ankle boots I added a turtleneck sweater to this look, but I normally prefer to wear an open neck with a cardigan like this one. But, I was cold today, and I decided to go for extra warmth, and this sweater from Banana Republic looked like it would work great. As I was putting on my makeup, I decided to roll the turtleneck down to make sure that I didn’t get makeup on the neckline. When I went to take photos, I noticed that it was still down, but I decided to leave it that way. Lol! I wore it that way for the rest of the day, but I did adjust the one side that wasn’t laying down correctly.

I am starting to embrace neutrals more and more. I love the chunky bracelets too.

Just curious, how tall are you? I’d like to see more mustard color outfits. Could you put some of those together? Thanks.

  2. I am actually waiting for a pullover sweater in the same color as your cardigan to arrive. I’m glad that you wrote that you order a smaller size in the cardigans. I just put two nice cardigans in the donate bag because I felt like they were just too bulky. Duh! I will buy them in a smaller size next time. Thank you!

Sally, sometimes when I buy a cardigan in a smaller size, it won’t close all the way. But, I don’t mind that since I don’t intend to wear it belted. The small gap that it leaves open helps to create the look that I am after.

So does “running” late count as exercise ???? Love the jeans and the cable knit look of the cardigan – you look great in this outfit.

  4. I love the neutrals and the double sweaters. My office is very cold so I wore a two sweaters last week. I am trying to eat better too. Sweets are my downfall so I’m not buying them. I really miss dessert!

I freeze easily too. I sit with a heated throw over my legs and a heater under my desk at the lumber company.

  5. Hi Tania…let me introduce myself. I am 61 years old and have been married to my Indiana farmer for 40 years. I worked in county government for over 20 years until I was let go a little over 2 years ago. My husband told me if I wanted to go ahead and retire instead of trying to find another job that was fine by him. I jumped at the chance to retire. We have two grown children (a son & daughter) who are both married and raising their own families. They have given us 5 grandchildren to spoil. Our daughter just lives an hour away and our son lives close and farms with his Dad. I have recently decided to eat healthier and lose weight, so on my doctor’s recommendation I strictly count my carb intake…I consume less than 100 gr of carbs a day. I have lost, and maintain the loss, of 20 pounds. I feel so much better and shopping for clothing has become fun again. (Yes, the brown teddy bear coat arrived but is still sitting in its box waiting for me to decide if I should keep him…he is so cute) I am a collector of exercise DVD’s which remain in their packages 😆…maybe someday. My wardrobe consists of jeans and loads of tops to wear with them…sweaters in the winter and knit tops in the summer. Boots and tennis shoes with good cushioning and arch support are my footwear (nothing with a heel…my knees will not allow that). Nothing too exciting here, but I love reading fashion blogs to see what everyone else is wearing.

Michele, it is great to learn a little about you. I also have 5 grandchildren, and one of my sons lives close to me, while the other two of my children are hours away. Congratulations on maintaining the weight loss, that is so hard to do.

Patti, I have no idea about the nail polish. I told the nail person to paint a neutral in Shellac and I didn’t pay any attention to the name or brand.

  6. Hi Tania – I’ve been following you for a while and always enjoy your stories and fashion tips. I live in N. California in the same town I was born in. I’m 67 years old (yikes! How did that happen?). I’ve been married to my sweet husband for 36 years and we have 2 daughters and 4 granddaughters. We’re fortunate to gave them all close by. My husband will be retiring from his job in the rice industry this year and I was lucky to be able to retire at age 50 from my County government job. My wardrobe mainly consists of jeans, yoga pants and sweaters in the winter. I’m 5’8” and have terrible feet so not able to wear any of those darling booties or heels. Love the cardigan from today’s post. I purchased four or 5 this year and wear them almost daily. Oh, and I’m also a PC of your R+F business. The skin care has been a game changer for me!

Connie, it is crazy how fast time flies by. I still feel as young now as I did when I was 30, so your attitude is a huge deal. Congratulations for retiring so early, and be sure to have something for your husband to do once he retires…other than driving you crazy. Lol! I am thrilled that you are loving R+F. It really is a game-changer!!!

    Hi Tania!
I LOVE this outfit. I’ve been getting and reading your posts for over a year now….I Love your style. My husband and I live in Tennessee on Norris Lake and will soon celebrate our 2 year anniversary. This is a second marriage for us both, as 5 years ago my husband of 40 years passed away from cancer. My current husbands wife passed away over 10 years ago. We were re-introduced and as they say, the rest is history. I’m learning to laugh and smile again. That’s one of the reasons I love your posts. You’ve not only made me smile with your stories but you have given me many ideas for my own wardrobe.
I’ve been on a particular diet for about 8 months, the weight is coming off at a snails pace, but its at least coming off. Exercise?! I don’t like that word haha!
I do love your posts and you have inspired me. Thank you so much.
PS….now when I get dressed for my day and go out I feel really put together and that gives me confidence!! Keep up the good work.

Lana, it is great to “meet” you. I am with you when you say the weight goes off at a snail’s pace. But, as you said, at least it is going. I am so glad that you are enjoying the blog and that is helping you to feel more confident.

  8. Neutrals are my go to or better yet my safety net:) I really love neutrals for their classy sophisticated look, however my skin is fair and as I get older it can make me look somewhat washed out, especially with light hair. Have a great week:)

    • Tania Reply

Anne, you can always add scarf to help if a neutral washes you out.

  9. Old hippie. Highly opinionated and married to a typical alpha male. I’m a Christian a d a faithful follower if him and your blog. I like this outfit. It is definitely in my wheelhouse.
