How To Style Black For The Holidays And Still Look Festive
For some reason, I love wearing black for the holidays. Usually, I’m a color-loving girl, but black is my go-to color for all holidays. Today I’m going to show you how to style black for the holidays and still look festive.
Did I mention that I also like to add a little bling for the holidays? This slouchy, oversized Sequin Rib Sweater has just enough sparkle to satisfy my need for bling. Usually, when I buy ribbed clothing, I have to size up, but it is just the opposite for this sweater. If you are between sizes, I suggest sizing down. I love this pale silver color, and I think it will look great even after the holidays, especially with jeans. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
Velvet looks so luxurious, and I love wearing it for the holidays. This Black Velvet Blazer will elevate any outfit you wear. I love wearing a velvet blazer with jeans; it looks polished and chic. This blazer has a relaxed fit, I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
Here’s a photo where you can see the length of the blazer in the back. The website says this blazer is machine washable, and that’s a nice feature.
I didn’t add a necklace to this outfit because I wanted to let the sweater be the star; however, I did add a pair of Prosecco drop earrings. These earrings have already sold out, but I’ll add other choices. I have the Sip Sip Hooray Champagne Earrings with pearls and crystals, and I love those. These earrings are cute for any celebration or event; I know I’ll wear them for my anniversary and birthday.
These Ponte-Knit Flare Pants are so comfortable. They are lightweight and can be dressed up or worn with a jean jacket for a casual look. The slight flare leg gives the pant a modern look, and they look great with sandals, flats, or boots. I’m wearing my usual size 8, and I think these run true to size.
Here is another way to wear the sequin ribbed sweater. I wanted to add a little flair to my look, and this crushed velvet double-breasted blazer is the perfect addition.
I’m crushing on this gray Crushed Velvet Double-Breasted Blazer; it is gorgeous! I wasn’t sure if I would love the crushed velvet, but it is perfect, and I can’t wait to wear it with jeans and a graphic tee. Crushed velvet is a little more fun and whimsical than a regular velvet item. I’m wearing a size medium, and it fits me perfectly.
I live in leggings almost every day. I prefer a cotton top legging over compression leggings since I’m not working out in them. These Go-To Stretch Cotton Leggings are lightweight but not see-through. I’m 5 ft 6 in tall, and these were long enough for me. I’m wearing a size medium, and they fit nicely, but if you’re between sizes, I suggest sizing up.
You will not believe the price of these gorgeous Faux Suede Block Heel Sandals. They come in several colors, including metallic silver, in case you need a pair for a special event. I saw several reviews talking about the straps being too large; I didn’t have any issue with that. These sandals run true to size, and I’m wearing my usual size 9.
Nordstrom is running a Triple Points event, and Nordy Club Members and Cardmembers can earn Triple Points on their Nordstrom purchases from November 9th through November 13th. I like to use this opportunity to purchase my Christmas gifts and get myself a few things I might need. Since Nordstrom is having a Holiday Deals Sale through the 29th, I’ll show you some of my picks. This is a great time to get your shopping done while earning Nordstrom Notes three times as fast.
Nordstrom offers free shipping and free returns; it is super convenient. I love trying on clothing in the privacy of my home, but I hate paying for shipping and returns. That is one reason I love shopping at Nordstrom; trying new clothing styles never costs me anything. Nordstrom offers BOPUS (Buy Online Pick Up in Store) and contactless curbside pickup options.
Nordstrom and ShopStyle Collective sponsored this post, and I will receive compensation, but the opinions expressed are my own.
I am loving the way you mix and match outfits! I’m getting more ideas every day! Thanks so much for sharing with your followers!

I love the sweater and the crushed velvet blazer. And the Sip Sip Hooray earrings are just the bling to gift my bestie.
The crushed velvet blazer is lovely and so different. Love it with Jean’s.

Can’t go wrong with a Velvet blazer to jazz up any outfit.
Love the black velvet blazer on you! You look so pretty!
Very stylish and festive! Love your hair too!
What a great sweater! I’ve decided that someone could give you a burlap sack and challenge you to make it fashionable, and you would be able to do it with such flair.
You look beautiful in the slacks and the leggings Tania. Love the blingy sweater too!!
This is one time I’m not a fan of any of the outfits you modeled. I’m not sure why, because I love blazers and leggings-but these don’t do it for me.
Looks fun
Classy balaclava. Love it all
Cute and festive. 😍
Beautiful ideas! I love wearing and styling black and I have a lot of black pieces in my closet. This beautiful black blazer just went in my cart! Thank you always for these styles !
I really appreciate you giving us more mature women options that don’t make us look so old! I’m 59 & absolutely don’t want to look older, most options that sales people want to show me are for much older than I want & definitely not my!!
I love the crushed velvet jacket! So festive 💕
Hi Tania,
You look great in every color, but I love that crushed velvet blazer on you. I would love to see your closet! I too love to wear black and am glad you think it is appropriate for the holidays.

Nice festive outfits. Black is always classy! Thanks for the style tips!
The ponte knit flare pants look so nice! Are they clingy?
Not at all, Mary Jo!
I love wearing black from time to time because it is slimming and can be elegant. I love your posts and get the best ideas from your blogs.

Judy
I LOVE this time of year specifically so that I can wear velvet! Yummmmmm. Thanks for sharing!
I never knew I needed a crushed velvet blazer. Until now! I would style it with some black jeans and black suede boots. Love it. Thanks Tania!
I love that sweater. It looks so comfortable.
We have very casual get togethers but I love seeing what I could wear if we happen to have another event. Thank you!
Thank you for these beautiful ideas as well! Black pants are a staple in everyone’s closet I think. Have a happy Wednesday!
I wear black a lot during the holidays. I love the sweater.
The silver sweater looks perfect for my celebrations. Heading to order now. Thanks
Thank you for sharing, Tania. The sequined sweater is so pretty – just the right am0unt of “bling’.
Love the black & your perfect options!
I really like the bling sweater, it can dress anything up from skirt, to jeans. At first glance I wasn’t a fan of the crushed velvet blazer, but I scrolled back up and WOW I really liked it second look! Like you wrote, how fun to wear with a graphic tee. I am still into graphic ttees; my favorite saying “be kind”. I have to find those champaige earrings, off to shopping!
I absolutely love the crushed velvet blazer! I want to get one & I would NEVER thought I would like one, seeing it on makes all the difference!
I love the sweater on you. We are casual but I l like putting on a pretty sweater or blouse.
I too love black and wear it all the time. I think it’s thinning and flattering. These are awesome basic pieces. Those sandals are so cute.
You know exactly what we want to know. Two great outfits, I loved them both.
Can I just say how glad I am that blazers are back? I had my first black velvet blazer in college in 1973-74 and wore it with everything from evening dresses to my elephant leg hiphugger jeans! All my friends took a turn or two with it as well. I’m afraid that one is long gone now, but I have updated it many times is my life and it is still a go-to for the holidays! Thanks for sharing new ways to wear holiday blazers!
I love black and I love these options!
Always look forward to your fashion recommendations! ❤️
Love the sweater, it looks stunning on you!

A velvet blazer. Always wanted a blue one. It just speaks holidays!
I love love love that black velvet blazer. But with three cats, it wouldn’t look fresh and new for very long.
That sweater looks great on you. Your skin looks perfect.
Our family is very casual for holidays but I love the option of wearing an item that is comfy and pops for the holiday event – at the same time. Love the sweater!
Thanks for the holiday ideas. You look beautiful.
