BEHIND THE SCENES VOL. 3 – HOME AGAIN HOME AGAIN
I feel a little bit like Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz…”There’s no place like home!!!” We’ve been trying to adjust from our recent trip to Palm Springs, and it has been a challenge. We went from 114-degree weather to barely 60-degree weather, and the three-hour time change kicked us in the rear.
Joe swears he isn’t going to turn back the clock once the time changes in November. So, last night he said, “I think I’m going to be; it’s already after 10 o’clock.” I said, “it’s only a little after 9; you’re going to bed too early. He looked at his watch, and I could see he was getting ready to correct me, so I said, “well, that’s what time it will be in November.” Haha! I think he might have called me a few names, but I found it hilarious.
Be sure to scroll all the way to the end to hear about a couple of giveaways!
Fall is in the air
Are you ready for fall? Do you decorate for fall, Halloween, or Thanksgiving? When the kids were small, I decorated for Halloween with spiders, skeletons, spell books, and potion bottles. Ashleigh and Joseph are both born in October, so we had Halloween-themed birthday parties. Now, two of my grandchildren are October babies, so they have a big Halloween/Birthday celebration which is always a lot of fun.
This week, my DIL and I went shopping for some fall decorations at Target, Home Goods, and TJMaxx. This type of decor isn’t something that I sink a lot of money in, especially since I like to change it out every few years. Here is a tip when shopping at stores like Big Lots, Walmart, Target, TJMaxx, etc.; pick up the item and try to hold it against a plain background. Choose a wall or a solid color dress and look at the item. You’ll get a better idea of how the item will look in your home. If the item looks cheap, put it back, but if it looks nice against the solid background, it’ll look nice in your home.
Fall decorations can stay up until the Christmas tree comes out, so I like that I only have to decorate once. Kayla has small children, so she bought a few things for Halloween decor:
Since I don’t have small children in the house, I bought fall decor:
Hair Color
A lot of you have messaged me about my hair color. I’ve shared the formula on FB and IG, but I’ve never posted it here. So, today, I’m changing that.
Roots and {foiled in}lowlites- Redken Color Fusion 6na mixed with equal parts 15 volume (mix 10 and 20 together)
Highlights {foiled in} – Joico Blonde Life lightening powder mixed with equal parts 20 volume
Toner- Redken Shades EQ 10p mixed with equal parts developer
This is gibberish to me, but I’m sure your hairdresser would understand all of this.

I love decorating for Fall. October is my favorite month. It’s both my husband and my birthday, plus our anniversary. Sometimes, I do wish it could be stretched out some. I love your hair color, thank you for sharing!
I recently saw your Facebook post and really enjoyed reading 50isnotold.com
Actually I just turned 65 but a young 65.
I’ve decided age cannot define who we are.
I look forward to reading your posts daily.
Lovely styling! Thanks for the tips!
I love your posts and that you’re a person who loves to share your faith! If we lived closer, we’d be shopping/talking/church buddies! Thank you for all you do and share ❤️
No littles here, so I skip Halloween and decorate for Fall. I have a primitive/colonial style home so use simple decor, leaves, pinecone, burlap etc. I’m ready for our very hot, very dry Ohio summer to end!!
Tania,
I so love the fact that you show yourself as a very “real” Woman of God! You are such an inspiration! Thank you!
Keep Smiling, ’cause Jesus loves YOU, and so do I!! 🙂
Love your fall decor ideas and your hair hair and makeup. Would love to win the earrings!

I love to decorate for fall! I’ve been ordering a few things to add to what I have. I love the glass pumpkin!
I love Palm Springs! Glad you enjoyed. You have great taste in decorations and wardrobe. Home Goods is my favorite.
Thoroughly enjoy your blog. 🌼
From VA, lived in KS 30 years and that’s “home”—Wizard of Oz 😉
Now in Texas and missing my fall and winter seasons. 🙃
Glad y’all enjoyed Palm Springs. 🌞
Most of my fall decorations came from Home Goods!
I look forward to reading your post everyday. It is a bright and relaxing time at the end of the day for me. I was so excited that I got the dress from Kohl’s the other day, it is great! (it just came in)
Love the earrings too. 🙂

Worst summer ever. I am thrilled for Fall and the beautiful clothes.
Happy fall! I love Kate Spade, so I would be thrilled to win.
Hi Everyone! I’m a new subscriber and have been enjoying all of the posts, especially the fashion and decorating. I’m new to the skincare stuff, will look into it. I’m also going to share this website with my sisters, I know they will want to see it. Thanks Tania, you are doing a good job here!
love your posts and follow you daily.
I love fall decorations! (not so much Halloween). Although I like the warmer weather, I’m ready for boots and sweaters and anything below 70 degrees means it’s time, lol!
Fall is my favorite season of the year, so I enjoy decorating with pumpkins, leaves, Indian corn, etc. I’m not really a fan of Halloween decorations though. I look forward to cooler temperatures for layering sweaters, flannel sheets and cozy throws. I try to add warm scents in my home, cinnamon, clove, apples and oranges.
I too only put out fall decorations since we are empty nesters. I am more then ready for boots, sweaters and firepits. We must deal with the time difference as well as our kids still live in Arizona and we are in South Carolina. Hope you have rested up.
So glad you posted affordable looks from Walmart. I will be giving them a try. Always fun to have a new product. I love a cream blush that is versatile! Thank you for sharing your looks, home and life with us! Coffee and Tania my mornings!
“Home again, home again, jiggity jog” is something my mother used to say. She passed away in 2007. Thank you for bringing back that memory for me, even if it was no longer than it took to read the heading of your post.
I love decorating for fall. Ross and Marshall’s are my go-to places to purchase home decor. There’s no guilt because their prices are so reasonable. Your decorations look great! Love that pumpkin pillow!
I love your new fall decorations.
I only decorate for fall these days and not Halloween. Looking forward to you showing what arrived in the packages.
I love your fall decor! I have yet to put out my fall decorations for this year – maybe later this week, despite the 90 degree temps in the forecast…
The Banana Republic pocket sweater comes in a gorgeous green. I think I’ll add that to my closet!
I look forward to your Sunday posts. This one hit home today, I often let fear take hold of me and avoid a prompting to help someone. I need to step outside of myself and do more good.
You are a daily bonus and inspiration for me!
I read you each and everyday! I look forward to the scripture each time!Love the new format in the email!
Really cute decorations
I look forward to opening your emails each morning.
Thanks
Diane
Love the links to fall decor. Especially the throw pillows! Lots of great choices. ❤️
It’s funny I just took the R&F quiz and I was surprised it said I should use reverse. The Redefine regimen has taken care of the lines around my mouth but I’m willing to give Reverse a try. So far I have really liked R&F.
I understand how you feel about the time change when I lived there I had a son living in California and when I visited it was hard to deal with the time change.
I especially love the posts when you mention your family. Do you miss living next door to your son’s family?
I love decorating for the Fall! Pumpkins, displays of fall leaves, and baskets with blanket throws in deep, rich autumn tones are the heralds of the season for us. I’ll put out a few Halloween items but not so much as when my kids were young. Just love this time of year.
Love the fall decor
I love fall decorations. The pillows in your post are so cute@@
I’m with you Tania, it’s fun to travel but always good to come home. Our nights in Oklahoma are cooling but day temps are still too warm for fall layers. Following your advice wearing fall colors but still dressing for the heat here. Love your fall decorations!🍁🍂
I truly enjoy reading your blog daily. Also love your bible verses. Keep them up please.
I enjoy reading your blog everyday. Love hearing about your family. I have bought several items over the years that you modeled. In addition to Appleseeds and all the other stores that I buy from, I also like NorthStyle and Chadwick’s. They are great companies and I love their clothes. Thanks for all you do to keep the blog going.
I really enjoyed seeing all of you new decorations. It has inspired me to go shopping for a few new fall decorations
Loved your post as always! Also, love the Bible verses each day!!
Boy, do I need a reverse regiment! As I age, I need more and more skin care.
I like to start putting Fall decorations out on September 1… and usually can’t stand it and start on August 31. Add a few Halloween things in October, Thanksgiving things in November…then the big guns come out December 1.
Lots of pretty things for fall. Thanks for sharing.
I also have dull, dry skin with uneven skin tone and deep under eye circles even tho the tool didn’t pick up all that very well. Thanks for all your great clothing inspiration and sale info!
I love your fall decor! I live in the Florida Panhandle and praying for a little cooler weather, it’s in the 90’s today. Have a beautiful day!
Love the fall decor- especially those gorgeous pillows. The plaid blouse with the ruffle neckline is so different! Cute!
I am trying to hold off on fall decor until the very end of September.
I mix Halloween and fall. Leave my pumpkins and florals out until the day after Thanksgiving.
Did put a beautiful mum on my porch today.
I don’t always comment but read your blog everyday. I enjoy it so much.
Love some of the fall/Halloween decor!! I guess I need to do some shopping to get my house ready!
I have decorated a little bit for Fall, with the bulk of the decor being on our front porch in the red wagon I had as a child (I’m 65 now, so it’s ancient). I will decorate for Christmas mid to late Oct. because we are deer hunters and we want the decorating done sooner than later.
Like your decorations. I am trying to get motivated. We are still hot , at 90 degrees, sigh. I did put up fall wreath on door, and pumpkin on bench.
I must as you about the gorgeous red leather chair holding the cute fall pillows. Can you share information?
Jan, when we bought our house, we bought the furniture with it because we haven’t sold out house in Grundy. The red chairs came from the previous owners, and I came find any tags on them. 🤷🏼♀️
LOVE fall decorations!!! They make the house feel cozy.
Enjoy reading your posts! I like decorating for Fall with a little Halloween thrown in for the grandkids! It’s very sweet of you to share your color formula!
I decorate for fall and then after my son’s birthday on October 3, I add some Halloween decorations. After Halloween, I switch to a Thanksgiving overlay. My son will be 39 this year, but I still wait until after his birthday. 😂😂
Looking forward to Fall and all of your fabulous finds for us!!
This post has inspired me to start decorating for fall. And I may have to get a few new items! Thank you for ending each of your posts with a word from the Lord.
Love your posts. Kind of glad the searing heat of summer is over. Fall is mode comfortable.
I no longer decorate for Halloween and instead just focus on fall. I can’t say enough about how nice big lots and Walmart seasonal decor are! I do like the plaid blouse you pictured it looks beautiful for fall. Can’t wait to see it styled.
Same. I skip anything “dark” (witches, ghosts, blood, monsters, skeletons), and enjoy the beauty of autumn! There is SO much beauty this time of the year!
I do minimal decorations for holidays. I add some in with my normal ones. Now that my grandkids are here again I’m adding more. They make it fun. Also their mom’s birthday is Halloween.
I enjoy your blog so much. I appreciate that you share a variety of price points as well as a variety of useful topics!
It’s difficult to start letting go of Summer, but you’ve inspired me to decorate for Fall!

I actually started fall decorating last week. I’m trying hard to get into fall mode even though the weather here feels still like summer. It’s been in the high 90’s. Even next week it will be mostly high 96’s and 97’s. Looking forward to the 60’s!! Have a great weekend!! Thanks for all the great outfits and beauty tips!!
Would love to win something!
I love decorating for fall. I have been adding white pumpkins and more organic looking items, so I love the sea grass pumpkin you shared.

I’m really enjoying your blog. You and I are not exactly the same clothing style, but eat enough. I’m new to online shopping, so have found your blog so helpful. The things I’ve ordered based on your styling photos have all worked wonderfully. And I really appreciate when you show styles that are more frugally priced, like form Kohls or good sales! God bless you and your family!
Good tip about avoiding cheap Fall decor. Love your pillows!
