Are You Listening
Several of you have asked me how I can find something to post about each week. I don’t have a posting calendar or a chart that I can refer to when it comes to posting. I sit down at my computer and post about whatever is in my mind. But today, my thoughts are all about silence.
I’m sure all of you have heard that “Silence is golden.” Silence can be a good thing when you need to concentrate. My daughter always wanted music playing when she was studying for a big test, but I need silence when I do something similar. This is not the silence I am talking about; I am talking about God’s silence.
Each week, I pray for the Lord to direct me to a topic that someone needs to hear. I try to pay attention to “signs” that might occur throughout the week. However, this week, I didn’t pick up on anything. Maybe I was distracted, but it seemed like God was silent.
Last night, every time I woke up, I prayed for a sign or a message to post about. Once again, it seemed like God was silent. I started thinking about why He was quiet, and I began to worry and panic. How many of you can relate?
Have you experienced times in your life where you feel like God is silent? Maybe you have even wondered, “Is He even listening?” “Does He care that this is happening to me?” What do we do when we feel abandoned?
As all of these thoughts were going through my mind, I started to examine “my” behavior. Have I been holding up my end of the relationship, or have I been on auto-pilot and going through the motions? Yikes, I am guilty. Why would the Lord want to talk to me if I am off thinking about other things? So, what do we do?
Read His Word
Jeremiah 33:3 NIV
3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
The Lord is talking to us all the time; we only have to open our Bible to find His words. I want everything to come to me in the easiest way possible. Having to search and read the Bible is harder than just looking for signs of His words.
Spend Time In Prayer
Psalms 17:6 NIV
6 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
The Lord hears your petitions, and the Lord welcomes your prayers. Are you talking to the Lord, or are you the one being silent? We should use prayer as a way to grow closer to the Lord. We should tell Him our fears and our worries even though He already knows everything.
Pursue The Lord
Part of a relationship can mean that there are times when we need to be the ones in pursuit of the Lord. Our Lord is a jealous God, and He wants to know that there are no other gods before Him.
Exodus 34:14 NIV
14 Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
If you find that the Lord is silent, maybe that means that “YOU” need to be the one doing the talking. A relationship is not a one-way street, and we need to do our part.
To GOD Goes The Glory!
Have A Blessed Day!
I was reading through my old emails… and glad I clicked on this. I needed to read this today!
Thank you!
Kathryn
Amazing just what I needed ❤️🙏
I got chill bumps reading your post.
Thanks and Amen!!!
I so look forward to your posts! One of the things I enjoy most is the fact that you share your faith unashamedly. The Lord is our HOPE! Thank you!
I love so many of the fashions, but I am short(5’1)short waisted, and many of the long styles do not work for me. Would love to see more options for us short gals! Thanks!
Melanie West
Melanie, I do occasionally do posts for Petite ladies. I keep trying to get my DIL to take photos with me since she is Petite.
I liked your post on “silence”. I know I needed that. We all get so busy with everything going on around us!
Thank you for the reminder.
Thank you for this reminder to study God’s word, spend time in prayer and pursue God 🙏 😊
Sometimes silence speaks the loudest. Great message.
Oh thank you Jesus!
What a wonderful message!! Everything you mentioned is true. It’s these exact same things that I have to do. No, it’s not always easy at first but it works! Hallelujah!! God’s words are true! We can always depend on him!!
He says to be STILL and KNOW He is God. Silence. Faith.
Good word today!
This was excellent, Tania. You ARE hearing from the Lord! God bless you as you continue to desire to bless all of us with your thoughts about our relationships with the Lord.
thank you for reminder love reading your Sunday posts most of all
thank you, Tania. Your posts are always a blessing to me.
I love this message it is so true! Seek him always!
Wow- this hit the mark today & was very similar to our sermon!
I read this as I sit on my patio listening to silence and the occasional bird song. Best part of my day
So very true.
So very true
Love your Sunday posts. They always make me reflect on my behavior
Thank you.
Good message like always.
Great post!
You don’t know how much I appreciate you and your messages about God since I haven’t been able to attend church for several years. Today’s message is perfect timing. I needed it. Thank you❤️
Perfect message today. Thank you.
Experiencing the silence of God can be troubling. I found being diligent with prayer and He will eventually “talk”.
Amen and thank you for sharing ❤️
Great message today! Thank you, Tania!
The post Was beautiful as always I love looking at JJill close and I love seeing how you put them together. The blue and white blouse was absolutely beautiful, but even on sale JJ.ill close are way over my budget, but I do enjoy. Have a blessed day.
Good Morning!I needed to read this today. You are talking about silence and not knowing what to post on. You are talking about God being silent. Like I said, I had almost decided to not read or look at your post anymore. I felt like it really didn’t matter, because you were not really listening to us. Thanks for this post today, I realized that in a way you were listening and answering our questions, even if not personally. I know that is impossible. Thank you ,it made me stop and think and also Thank God! So, thank you and Happy Memorial Day to all. Phyllis
Phyllis, I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I’m not sure why you think I don’t listen to my readers. I don’t have the time to reply to every comment, but they are all read.
Thanks, Tania, for these Sunday posts. I have always found wisdom and reassurance in your posts about our Lord. Have a blessed Memorial Day.
Thank you for this perfect post on this memorial holiday weekend. Silence is sometimes the best answer and powerful reminder we are not alone. God bless our service members and their families.
Ahh, the sound of silence. As a music educator for over 33 years, sounds have dominated my life. I often leave school, even now as a retired teacher working as a music education consultant, I leave the school feeling like I’m leaving a rock concert. The drive home is quiet with just the sound of the hiway. Ahh… how sweet it is.
Beautiful! Thank you…Happy Sunday, Tania❤️🙏🏻❤️
Something else I have read. The teacher is silent during a test. Also, if you have toddlers, silence is an alarm; they need to be checked on. So, God might be testing you, like Job. Or you may be in danger and need to check in with Him. I look forward to you spiritual posts. Thank you.
I think I needed this lesson. Thanks
Love today’s post about “silence” and how you arrived at writing it. Such a wonderful message!🙏🏼
Thank you for this reminder, Tania! I know that I talk too much at times, so I’m thankful that God will never tell me to be quiet.
I look forward to Sunday post so inspiring
GREAT reminder again. God Bless YOU!
This post is so true and from your heart. Thank you. God Bless You!
That is just what I needed to hear this morning. I have been through a very stressful past year and with God’s help and ALOT of silent prayers I have been able to leave an abusive relationship. Thank you for the reminder to be still and pray.
Gretchen, I’m so glad the Lord was with you, and you were able to leave. No one should have to stay in an abusive relationship, but finding the strength to leave isn’t easy.
Your arms always look beautiful in outfits. I’m six years older, low weight and in good shape however I don’t wear anything sleeveless anymore because of crepey skin. I don’t feel Crepe Correct is the magic bullet either. Could you touch on either treatments or tastefully covering up that area in outfits! You always look beautiful in your outfits! Thank you so much!
Karen, I have crepey skin too. My mom and I were just talking about it this weekend. I’m not sure there is anything that will help, it seems to come along with aging.
Thank you, Tania, for this wonderful reminder and encouragement. When God is silent, He really is sending a message! Thank you for being so open and real. I love all of your posts, but your devotionals are truly refreshing. I find them to be a wonderful part of the start of a new week!
Silence is golden…
Thank you so much for the great reminder that conversations with God are a two-way street!
Amen. I have been reading “With Christ in the School of Prayer” by Andrew Murray in modern English. It is a dense but fruitful read. It is changing and deepening my prayer.
Love your inspirational word today. Thank you
excellent advice!
Thank you so much for your thoughts relating to silence. I would like to share a time when I was having a difficult time with an issue. I prayed to God to help me. I sat in silence for awhile and all of a sudden this great sense of peace came over me. I felt that God was telling me he was taking care of things. If had not been sitting there in silence I would not have recognized it. Thanks for your words of wisdom, Tania.

I had one of those moments too when my son was in the emergency room. All at once this feeling of peace came over me, and I knew everything was going to be alright.
Thank you for this reminder yet again for me. Often I find myself rushed in thoughts on my “ To Do List” and rush through reading my daily devotional, not really absorbing the message God has for me. I love it when my Father and I chat all day long throughout my day and notice signs given. I love the song, Make Me a Channel of Your Peace. It sums it all up for me. I’m up now and getting ready for church. Love you Girl with his peace and love. Amen!
I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I love days like those too.
Beautifully said
God certainly did speak through you this week! What an important lesson that silence is just as powerful as a message.
Amen!
I needed to hear this today. It’s very convicting.
Thank you for your Sunday devotional post, Tania.
I appreciate your thoughts. They also get me to think more.
Have a blessed Sunday.
Yes. Silence is often the way God is speaking to us. We just need to be silent ourselves, and listen. thank you for this.
Perfect devotional for Memorial Day! 🇺🇸 I know many people think of Memorial Day as “yay start of summer” but I think of it more as a respectful solemn holiday. So thankful for our military & their families!
Hi Tania,
Thank you for this post today today. I needed it.
Hope you have a blessed day.
Your devotional posts are so inspiring. Today your post reminded me of something I heard a while back in a sermon about this. The preacher said God never leaves us we leave him. So I like you think about the times when I worry that I’ve made the Lord unhappy with me when I can’t seem to hear Him. It is definitely me who’s left the relationship. Thanks for your faithful devotions. You’re a special person and a friend to me through your heartfelt posts and daily Bible verses. God Bless you Tania
I am so enjoying the tips you are giving for shopping. It has really helped me to explore items i would never dream of trying on. I am expecting a shipment from Kohls….some excited.
Thank you also for being you…and sharing your faith with gentleness.
Gail
Thank you for the wonderful & needed reminder. I’ve been so busy lately and treating my quiet time like another check on my list instead of precious time with my Lord. 🤍
You sound like me. I like checking things off a list.
Dear Tania:
You have no idea how much I needed to hear this. Thank you!
Lynn
I’m glad this spoke to you, too.
Thank you Tania. A wonderful reminder!
I loved your message today! Thank you!
Thank you for this post! While I love all the stuff you post about fashion, I love the most that you honor Jesus on your blog. Thank you for being a light for him. May he bless you and your family for your faithfulness. 😊
Thank you, Marcie.
Beautiful post. Sometimes silence is the message.
Wonderful post
Love this message. Thank you for reminding ME to talk more to the Lord!
This post is so true. I call on God when I need something but I do not feel like I am thinking of him enough when I am often doing my own thing and don’t need his help. I am going to try harder to correct that. Thanks for the inspiring post.

I have to have silence to concentrate. God’s silence is the best. I love all the color that you have on here.
Very nice “SILENT” thoughts.
Thank you for your Sunday posts. I really enjoy reading them. Have a wonderful weekend!
I love your Sunday devotionals. When I lived in Florida I attended Community Bible Study and was the prayer chairman for a while. My mantra became “there’s got to be a devotional in there somewhere.” I did one on painting the house (did you know we have an aroma to GOD? I didn’t). I did one on our seawall cap being replaced, one on a sewer backup, even one when I got a traffic ticket. (My husband forgot to get a yearly tag for my car). The more we draw close to God, the closer He comes to us. Have a blessed day. 🥰
Pam, I agree that there is a devotional in everything we do. We have to stop and find the message.
You hit the mark this morning, Tamia. Exactly what I needed to hear.
This is very timely. We have just been praying for a dear one — a young mom who had cancer. She passed away this week. We know God heard our prayers. We were waiting for him to answer. Maybe some thought that he was being silent. But he was working… in his own way. It just wasn’t the way we thought it would be. ❤️ We are so used to our noisy world of distractions and instant answers that we are unfamiliar with and uncomfortable with silence. But silence can be a very good thing, and thank you for the reminders today.
Congratulations, Susan!!👏
We often think God doesn’t hear us, but He does. His way isn’t want we always want, but He is in control.
As I get older I like silence more, but I is concerning when God is silent. It helps when I get in my Bible more. thanks
Great words to start my Sunday off.
Just what I needed today. ❤️
Oh Tania, I am SO guilty of not being 100% there when God is trying to communicate with me. I hate to admit it, but I have been known to put together my grocery list in my head if the sermon at church is not grabbing me. It’s a work in progress….
I think we are all guilty of doing things like that.
Beautifully written and so good to remember. Bless you for sharing these insights.
I was just thinking that. Thank you
Good morning Tania… it is in the silence that our God speaks the loudest…
Thank you for these encouraging words
May you enjoy the silence and all the grace it brings with it
Trish

Once again your words are the perfect message! I need to make the silence to really focus on my conversation with God. Good scripture as well. Thankyou!
Beautiful! Finding Gods answers in the silence can be deafening. I appreciate your honesty. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Have a blessed day!
Thank you for this word today. This has been a week of silence from God to me. I know it’s because I’ve been so busy I haven’t been spending quality time with Him each day. I needed this reminder that i will hear from Him and have a more productive day when it starts off talking and listening to Him. Blessings to you…
Amen! When I have to do a design or something creative, I give it to the Lord to guide me, he never fails! ❤️
Amen, I think we all needed to hear that post.
Thank you
Amen! The pursuit of God and being thirsty for His Word will help give us refreshing and perspective daily. It will draw near to Him as He draws near to us.
AMEN!
Yes, I agree with all you wrote. We are all guilty but our God is merciful and long suffering.
I hear you!
I agree with all you said. Sometimes too, God is watching for us to obey Him in the last thing He told us and other times, He just wants us sitting quietly in His presence. Great post and thoughts. Thank you for encouraging me.
Great Sunday post–as usual! Thank you. Please keep them coming!
Love your inspirational posts as much as your fashion ideas.
Amen, great post!
