50 IS NOT OLD | AN INSPIRATION OUTFIT | FASHION OVER 40I am all the time telling stories about Joe and some of the funny things that he does. But, I am afraid that the tables have turned, and he is insisting that I tell a story on myself. Lol! I told him to get his own blog if he wanted a story told, but that didn’t seem to go over very well. Lol!
50 IS NOT OLD | AN INSPIRATION OUTFIT | FASHION OVER 40It is all his fault; anyway, he gives me way too much to do. He recently switched to a different hanger for his airplane because the airport in town is closing down. When he got his new hanger, he had to switch the electric into his name. This was about three or four months ago, and I had forgotten all about this. Yesterday he was all in a tizzy wanting to know if I had seen an electric bill on the hanger come through. I told him that I hadn’t seen the bill, and that sent him into a panic. “They are going to turn off my electricity off in my hanger” was what he kept saying over and over again. Then he called the lumber company to see if he had sent the bill there, instead of sending it to the house. They hadn’t seen the bill either. I told him that we could call the power company and check on the bill if we had the meter number. This went on all day long until he finally got the power company on the phone and had them search the account by the meter number. It turns out the bill had been mailed to the house, and it turns out that “I” had written a check last month and paid the bill. LOL! It turns out that he had been in a tizzy for no reason. Hahaha! I looked in my checkbook and said, “was the amount 52.87?” Oh well, he should pay his own bills. Lol!
50 IS NOT OLD | AN INSPIRATION OUTFIT | FASHION OVER 40This outfit is all old items, except for my shoes. I can’t even begin to tell you how old this top is, or where I bought the top. I only know that I liked the soft muted colors, the pretty medallion print, and how it had a unique neckline that gave it even more visual interest. This is one of those posts where I want you to take this as an inspiration, not as a “buy this” now. I just went to check the tag and see where the top was from, and it is from Talbots. Talbots is having a great sale; I just bought several things last night.

50 IS NOT OLD | AN INSPIRATION OUTFIT | FASHION OVER 40I am not wearing a lot of jewelry with today’s look. The Dallin gold hoop earrings are my go-to when I am in a hurry. They go with anything, and they are a perfect size. The Anadia features a druzy cream bar on a silver chain. My bracelets are a part of the Rachel set that features four bracelets.
50 IS NOT OLD | AN INSPIRATION OUTFIT | FASHION OVER 40My Tory Burch flats are the one new item in my outfit. I bought these with my 1,000 Nordstrom shopping spree that I earned from Rodan + Fields. They are super comfortable, and I was surprised at how good they looked with the gray jeans. Here is the link to the shoes.
50 IS NOT OLD | AN INSPIRATION OUTFIT | FASHION OVER 40These are a pair of my favorite jeans. I love the faded distressed looking gray color. This pair of jeans fit like a glove, and I bought them at Old Navy.

50 IS NOT OLD | AN INSPIRATION OUTFIT | FASHION OVER 40Do you and your husband have a “song” that is special to you? Mine and Joe’s song is Forever and Ever Amen by Randy Travis. We were having an argument when this song came on, and then we immediately realized how silly we had been. In the song, it talks about growing old together and sitting on the porch in a rocking chair. When the time comes for me to sit and rock the day away, I want to make sure that I don’t have many regrets to haunt me. There are things that I already regret, but I am now trying to live my life in such a way, that regrets are not going to be on my mind. You are capable of so much more, don’t hold yourself back! Blogging has been an adventure and something that I could have easily not done since I didn’t know a thing about the process. Running my own skincare business was something that I would have never thought about doing a few years ago, but I am so glad that I jumped in with both feet. When I am old and gray (or older and grayer), I can know that those decisions will not be regretted. Come out of the shadows, surprise yourself, and live your life to the fullest.

BTW, I wanted to thank all of you for all of the comments yesterday. You outdid yourself! I couldn’t reply to all of them since I had to work at the lumber company, but I did read every one of them! Now, let’s do it again today. Lol!

  2. ‘Shameless’ by Garth Brooks is our song. 27 years of marriage and counting!

    1. YES!!! I didn’t know anyone else loved that song. I think that Billy Joel either wrote the song or sung it first.

  3. Regina Kothny says:

Keep the “real” coming! Laughing is great medicine.

That’s why we have separate everything. For years we have had separate bank accounts etc. People laugh at how we do this. But it works for us. Together it did not. True, not for all. We’ve been married for 49 yrs. Happy as ever.

      1. Hey, what works for you is the way to go.

  4. I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing by Aerosmith is our song…..we met in our late 30’s, dated with kids and felt like we needed to cherish every moment. My Mom laughed at our wedding when this was our first dance song, we were not the “typical” bride and groom. We went to Disney a few years back, rode the Aerosmith coaster and as we were leaving they played our song….we danced our way out and got some applause….great memory! Thank you for giving me a reason to look back……❤️

    1. I love that song. I usually cry every time that I hear it. Lol!

  5. Lori Denise Fletcher says:

“You’re my inspiration” by Chicago is “our” song. It was played and sung at our wedding almost 35 years ago. We also like Dolly Parton’s song, “Rocking Chairs”. Have a great day!!!

    1. I will have to listen to the Dolly Parton song. I can’t recall what it sounds like.

  6. Love your outfit AND your new shoes!! Sometimes my husband and I argue over the pettiest things and afterward we realize what a waste of time it was! Life is too short to worry about the small stuff. Made me stop and and think how I would handle something really major if it ever happened to us. I’m getting too old to let the little things in life bother me!!

  7. Very cute outfit. You look cool and comfortable.

    1. It was very comfortable!

  8. Good morning and a very good outcome to the story Tania, well played.
Outfit is adorable love the color, comfy shoes, is an everyday outfit with style
    Have a Blessed Day??

  9. I love this outfit on you, Tania. Great inspiration. I bought those same ON jeans last year at your recommendation, so “thank you”. You had paired them with a Nordstrom gray twist hem sweater. So cute. Bought ‘em both and love that combo. Yesterday’s dress was adorable on you and I picked up that ON pink sweater on sale last month too. LOL. Pairing with blue/white stripes is a combo I hadn’t considered. See – you come in so handy with all your ideas. I will admit to not loving the long vest, Boho not my thing but it did look cute on you. I’ve been on the run lately so haven’t had time to comment. I enjoy you and your blog.

    1. Haha, Tanya! Great story! Funny you mention Talbot’s great sale. I just placed an order that includes “several” cute tops for really good prices! I can’t wait to get my order! Thank you so much for always inspiring us!!

      1. My order will be here early next week.

    2. I am glad that you liked the ON jeans. They are truly a favorite, mostly because of the color.
