ALL THAT AND A BOTTLE OF POP
Have you ever just felt like you had it all going on? You know the feeling, the one where you think to yourself, “man, I look good today”, or “my hair is perfect”, or “these shoes make my legs look like they go on forever.” Well, there is s a saying for that. “You’re all that and a bottle of pop.” Is that just a saying I know, or have you heard that also?
I really, really hate to throw my sister under the bus again since I just did a post on her sea sick adventure, but I’ll get over it. Haha There was this shoe store in the town where my sister and I grew up. They had really cheap priced shoes. I think they were probably returns, some were used, and I have no idea where the rest of them came from. It was basically a nicer version of a salvation army. I can tell you this, my family has no problem with shopping thrift stores, salvation army stores, or yard sales. Some people might snurl (not a real word) their nose at that, but not us. Shoot, that is crazy talk. It is just a pre-loved item that is now a bargain for us.
Anyway, my sister bought a nice pair of boots from that store and was feeling so “fine” while wearing them. She was in college and wore them out one night. A girl that was in a sorority, and a “fancy Nancy” came in and sat down next to her. My sister came home and was bragging and bragging how she kept looking at her new boots. We sat there and listened to her glowing blow by blow account of this girl’s reaction and then she crossed her legs. That is when we all hit the floor laughing. She had no idea what was the problem, she thought we had just gone nuts. We could see that stuck to the bottom of her boot was a bright orange price tag that said 7.99!!! It still makes me snicker to think about that. Hahahahaha
Do you remember this dress? I wore this dress casually in this post, and said I would wear the dress a little more dressy the next time. So today I styled the dress with a beige linen jacket and some nude high heels. I think it totally changes the look of the dress. This look is more “me.”
The denim dress is the perfect length, it hits about 3 – 4 inches above my knee. I like that it is a straight hem, and not one that is a high low hem. I bought the dress at Ross and the brand is Speed Control New York. I am going to steal my daughter-in-laws way of listing links for today, I liked them on her blog post yesterday.
Denim Dress : JC Penny, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren (Plus)
Here is the dreaded look from the back. You can see how the hem is straight. You also get a better look at the side of the shoes. They are Naturalizer, and they are very comfortable for a high heel. Nude heels go with anything and they always make your leg looks longer.
Heels: Naturalizer, Liz Claiborne, Sam Edelman
Blazer: 5th Parallel, Kensie, Ulla Popken (Plus)
I have on my bracelets that Kay & Star sent me. I asked them for the colors and they are blush, white, and serenity blue. The necklace I have on is one that was in my start-up package from Chloe & Isabel.
Necklace: Chloe & Isabel, Statement necklace, Baublebar
Tote: Clava, Dapene, Cole Haan
Don’t feel sorry for my sister, she approves all my posts before I put them on the blog. We are a sarcastic family, and it is just part of our nature to make fun of each other. We ALL try to stay clear from my brother though, he is the king of making you pay. Lol! Love you Ellery!
The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.

A dose of cute and funny too! I love your posts. 🙂
I love this outfit! Very classy!
We say “All that and a bag of chips”.
Love the denim dress with the blazer! You look great and your stories are so much fun to read.
You make me laugh! Throw your sister under the bus?/ I love that expression. Fancy Nancy??? Hahahahah, my name is Nancy and I call my Friday link-up Fancy Friday ( Fancy Nancy, you know). This was a hilarious post, I loved it.
Well, she may get her revenge. I am going to let her write a story for the blog on Saturday. Everybody will want to check back in for that. After all, she is the writer in the family. This should be interesting.
This ought to be good! You two can start another blog and just tell stories about each other all you want. I was never blessed with a sister. I often wonder how we would have gotten along if I would have had one????
I love this dress and jacket combo. Keep it up gurl!
We say something similar “all that and a bag of chips”. Thanks for your blog, it’s great!!!! Def like this better than the sneakers.
I like how you dressed it up. You could easily go to work, a party or chuch in that outfit. Very cute yet it looks comfortable.
I saw that dress on TV in the Ross commercial. Love the story about your sister and Fancy Nancy. My mom worked in a law office years ago. One day she went to work with a Nordstrom sale tag dangling from underneath her arm.
I’ve done that before. My worst one is those clear tags that Old Navy have on their outfits. I hate when your walking around and look down and have a clear tag with a big “L” stuck on your shirt. They all know it is not talking about my chest size. Haha
I especially love to wear new jeans with a 36″ long sticker shouting “14” to the entire world. That, I really love.
I saw that dress on TV in the Ross commercial. Love the story about your sister and Fancy Nancy. My mom worked in a law office once. She went to work with her Nordstrom sale tag still dangling from underneath her arm.
Lackluster color on you . . .doesn’t due you justice. Not a fav. Be well!
