AGE APPROPRIATE OUTFIT THAT IS CASUAL, SIMPLE, AND ELEGANT
Have you ever wondered what “age-appropriate” even means? Do you really care what it means? For some, it is a way of telling a woman that she doesn’t need to dress in a certain way. For me, it means dressing in a way that makes me feel good, alive, sexy, and like a woman! After all, “I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never, ever let you forget you’re a man.” So, if I can do all of that, I am pretty sure that I can pick out my clothing to wear. Lol!
If you want to wear a skirt that is about your knees, and have awesome legs, then go for it. I’ll leave that look for you gurls, because I haven’t had a thigh gap for over 30 years. The same applies to a 2-piece bathing suit; if you can rock it, then wear it. Here are a few suggestions that I have when it comes to dressing in a fashion that makes you feel “appropriate.”
Figure out your figure
As I mentioned above, if you have a figure for a certain style, then feel free to wear it. Most of us have certain assets that we want to showcase. Those who are larger chested might like to show a certain amount of cleavage. If you have a thin waist, then you might like to wear belts, ties, or even sports bras as a top. For me, having my belly showing would look silly on me, so that is NOT going to happen any time soon. Who would want to see the big scar that I have from my gallbladder surgery??? The key is figuring out the amount of cleavage, the amount of belly or legs showing. Just try to stay away from a plumbers crack, and we should be good. Lol! (no offense to any plumbers who are reading this)
Where are you going
Where you are going is pretty important. I wouldn’t want to wear a bathing suit to a wedding or a chiffon dress to the beach. What is “appropriate” for one event might not be appropriate for another one.
Let Your personality shine
I love color; I am bubbly, and I am always a glass full kind of girl. For me, that means that I LOVE dressing colorfully. For some, you might be a romantic at heart, and dressing in ruffles makes you happy. Maybe you are a minimalistic person, and you prefer monochromatic styles. I also love antiques and vintage finds, but I am not going to dress head-to-toe in vintage. Dressing in that manner would make me look like I was wearing a costume, and that is not a good look unless you are in a Broadway Play.
If I look in the mirror and say, “mirror, mirror, on the wall, how do I look today?” I want to hear the words stylish, classy, chic, and sexy coming from that shiny object. I DO NOT want to hear matronly, frumpy, clownish, or skanky. If those words are ever uttered, I might have 7-years of bad luck coming my way soon. Hahaha
This sweater tee is perfect for my personality. It is bright and colorful, it is soft and cozy, and it looks expensive, but it isn’t. I strive to find the best deals that I can on luxury items, and this cashmere tee is one of those finds. I stumbled across this beautiful sweater the other day, and I ended up buying this sweater in rose and blue. The sweaters were on final sale, so that means that they can’t be returned, but I was willing to take the chance.
I ordered a size large in the sweaters, and I think they fit me great. Since I knew that I couldn’t return the sweaters, I ordered a large instead of a medium. I didn’t want to take the chance that the sweater would be too tight, but if it had been, then my sister would have gotten a new sweater for spring. The sweater is under $40.00, and that is cheaper than a lot of cotton tops. So, if looking expensive on a budget describes you too, then be sure to grab the colors that are available in your size.
Here is a gander at how long the sweater is in the back. It is not LONG, but it isn’t SHORT either. So, I’ll pronounce it just the perfect length.
I told you that I have fallen in love with Joe Jeans, and this pair didn’t disappoint me either. This pair is an ankle-length (28″), but I still decided to roll up the cuff for a different look. The straight-leg style is probably my favorite style at the moment, but ask me again next week, and it might be something different.
I have found that I need to size up in Joe Jeans to a 31 waist, instead of my normal size 30. This is a medium to light color, but I also saw these jeans in a darker wash that I will link for you. Plus, I know that these jeans are pricey, I bought mine when they were on sale, so I’ll link to some similar, more affordable options.
An outfit is only so-so until you add the accessories. Accessories are what takes an outfit from blah to wow, and who doesn’t want to hear a wow when you walk by? I will almost always wear jewelry, even if it is only a pair of earrings. Today, I am wearing my AVI gold hoop earrings which you see me wear all of the time. I am also wearing the Natalie hinged bangle bracelet and one of the Davis multi-strand set necklaces. This necklace is so cool because the clasp allows you to unhook any of the necklaces for a different look. This is the cobalt howlite set, but there are many others to choose from.
My leather camel handbag is a fabulous neutral color, and I love the size. This handbag had previously sold out, so I am thrilled to see that it is back in stock. This also comes with a long strap to convert the bag to a crossbody, but I like carrying it by the handles. I always forget to take photos of the inside of my bags, but I’ll upload one for you from the website.
The leopard calf hair flats match the leather handbag perfectly. These slip-on flats are super cute, and they are a great neutral that you can wear with anything. I am wearing my usual size 9 in these, and they run true to size. These flats are on MAJOR sale, and they are under $30.00!
Soooo, what do you think? Is this outfit age-appropriate? Is it casual, simple, and elegant? Do you think that this fits my personality? So, what about you? How would you describe YOUR personality using clothing?
My little Lucy Lu decided to quit looking through the glass at me while I was taking photos, and instead, join me for a photo or two. Isn’t she a cutie-pie???

Wow! I love that hot pink top!
Hot pink and leopard is one of my favorite combinations!
I love this outfit. It looks very comfortable and put together effortlessly.
Just my style (again)! Thanks!
Love your outfit today, well so far every day. I live in Texas where it is really hot so can’t wear sweaters and jackets but will next fall and winter. I love Chico white platinum jeans. You said you are looking for white jeans. Not thick and hot but you can’t see through them. I like to say I wear a size 1. Sounds so small but it’s a 8/10. Anxious to see more outfits!
Perfect outfit Tania! 🌸
Simple, comfy, cute!
And a little leopard, seksi! Lol
My style! I don’t really have a lot of reason to dress anymore dressier.
Some of the brands seem to be more expensive lately you have been styling.
So I replicate with less expensive ones! 😊
I love the color pink on you! Just lovely!!
Love the entire outfit. My style personality is similar to yours.
